View Full Version : Is it worth going online now that the popularity has gone do

Hie!

I am playing offline at the moment. Having completed Story mode, I started Extra mode. However, after playing for 30 minutes or so, I realised that Extra mode has no point. I do not get to beat the game, I do not get to see any endings etc.

That makes me wonder how is online mode. I am on PC and I read that only a few hundred PC players play online. That is pretty bad for a game that is pay to play. Even COH/ COV are doing better.

So if it is not too troublesome, can someone explain more on online mode and if it is worth starting over online now?

Thank you VERY much!!!

online mode is just fine. It's pretty easy to make friends even with such a 'small" population

Whew, back after a long hiatus from the Phantasy Star world myself. Recently picked up the full retail version of PSU for the 360 after trying the demo, and I am not disappointed at all with the population that's around on the 360. Though I can't say the same for the PC version.

In a sense though, I prefer smaller games, smaller more concentrated communities. World of Warcraft is just too big and too much of a jumbled mess at this point that it's ridiculous. So many servers with a lot of my friends spread out everywhere. Not to mention starting fresh there as a newbie is almost pointless.

I was a long time addict of Lineage 1, which only has three central US servers with one being geared directly towards US gamers. So I liked the fact that I was literally playing with "everyone" that was on the game.

I wish future MMORPGs and MMOs could implement something similar to PSU, wherein you enter blocks within a server, yet can still switch between blocks and meet up with others. I hate having to split characters over servers just because certain people and friends play elsewhere.

Wow, are things really that bad on the PC/PS2 servers?

I don't think the 360 servers have ever been as highly populated as they are now, FB really seems to have given the population a boost and I know of a few people who have returned just because of it.

Nah, the population problem is a little exaggerated because of how small it seems. But there really is plenty of people around. I still meet new people everyday.

While the community ain't as large as standard MMO there are still enought to make buds and have a good time http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif Plus on pc/ps2 you get to play on the same server as ME!!!

I do my very best to get people to play this game. It's a lot better online than it is offline IMO, and yes, friends are not that hard to make.

The PS2 community is mighty tiny.

Ive never seen any other universe other than Universe 2 with a single star lit. When i joined i was fairly dissapointed with how little people are online.

However on my alts i see and talk to newcomers every day. Im not sure how many are alts like mine though.

Its just really impossible to find any party outside Universe 2, thats all.

i usually dont have a problem with finding a party though. Game still feels huge enough that when you walk into some lobbies your PS2 still lags a bit.

Plus, the community on PS2/PC is pretty awesome, ive never met just a plain Bastard online on this game yet, which is pretty amazing.

The population is more then enough, i'll say that. I have no problem assembling a party for a mission I want to do. I also have no problem finding random people to party with.

simply put, it doesn't matter how many full universes there are at once, you can only be on one at a time. So if there is one full universe, or 3, or even 12, you'd never see more than 1 server anyways

360 servers have a couple thousand people playing. usually 2000+ during peak hours
