Weapons on psu

Definately not as good as PSO, all PSO weapons had a distinct look to them, you could tell a Rare saber apart from any other Rare saber. Now in PSU eveything looks the same, it's only S ranks that are starting to look different >_< I want different early gear >_<

And shields on your arm! That was cool, shouldn't have changed that.

this isn't really a fair comparison. PSO didn't have a great selection of weapons as compared to PSU. the following iterations of PSO (Vx, BB ect) had a much better variety of types and skins. this is the first iteration of PSU. let an expansion of 2 come and then compare. my guess is (based on what we already have) PSOx won't even come close.

Okay seriously, if you think the standard set of weaponry in PSU is worse than PSO's, you have some definite problems.


1. Axes, Grenade Launchers, and Laser Cannons. Theyre big, theyre powerful, they look badass. Did PSO have 2 handed axes? Or arc shooting grenades? Didnt think so.


2. Dual wielding. Im sorry? When could you do this in PSO? Oh thats right, never. You were FORCED to dual wield daggers, dual sabers, and mechguns, but here, in the intelligent universe of PSU, you can buy dual or single versions of daggers, and dual handguns more than make up for the lack of dual mechs.


3. The standard weapon classes. In PSO, we had only 12 different standard weapon classes, with about 5 weapon types that were "nonstandard" (i.e. it was impossible to buy these from NPC's. These included claws, cards, dual and double sabers, and laser cannons)

In PSU though we have a WHOPPING 23 different weapon types, NOT including the extra 4 we get in Ambition of Illuminus.


4. Photon Arts. In PSO, we had the nifty, but now dated, system of combos, where we got to pick from using a normal, heavy, or extra attack when attacking. They all looked the same, (apart from a few lame little special effects used on the extra attacks) and always ended up working out to a 3 hit combo.

In PSU, we have a standard 3 hit combo for melee weapons, and then can add any number more of hits to that depening on the level of the Photon Art, deepening the combat immensely.




So kiddies, the next time someone tells YOU that PSO had better weapons, simply look on like you care, and sympathize with the senility that comes with old age. Dont forget the shitty grammar as well.

Honestly? I think it makes perfect sense that photons are an all encompassing energy source. If you found something that was that useful, why not put it into all of your technology? It makes sense to me.

i just dont think non-S rank PSU weapons are very cool looking. i personally hate the way most A rank weapons look. axes, double sabers, twin sabers, twin guns, and rifles are all stupid looking IMO. the ones i do like are the daggers, mechguns, shotties, and rods. there could definetely be a lot more variety but we will be getting that in AoI.

Well, some of the PSO weapons did look cooler, but it's always possible that they could impove on this, and really, the basic weapons have more diversity, what with having multiple manufacturers with distinct styles, also, remember that PSO's different grade basic weapons had different colored blades and naught else, not that a different colored hilt is much of an improvement on that, but hey.

Sure I'd like to see some more PSO-ish weapons, but I really don't have much of a problem with what PSU has either, also, I've heard that the Crea's look a lot like the PSO-style basic weapons, maybe they'll make more types. ;]

I would like to see some more unique rares, though (as in they function a bit differently than normal, like spread needle, which used one weapon's animation, but another one's attack), but I'm not gonna' throw a fit or anything if they don't. ;]

Why? Because "OHEMGEE DEATH TTLY UZES IT GUIZE"? A scythe isnt even a viable, or really even useful, weapon. Do you hear about some great hero in history using one? No.

PSU has alot more weapon variety. You can build your weapon selection around your character easily, while everyone was probably using more or less the same thing in PSO. So far, I'll admit that PSO's weapons looked more unique, but once more S ranks, I think that much will change.
