I apologize if this has already been posted around here, but this little gem I found helped me to up my settings just a little. I haven't noticed a lot of change in loading times but I've noticed much smoother gameplay visually and the sort.

http://boards2.sega.com/psu_board/viewtopic.php?t=21715

Hope it helps you as it has done for me.

And yes, it works on XP as well as Vista. I run on XP. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I followed the steps, opened PSU and to my surprise.......my account expired http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif. I renewed so I have to wait awhile before I can see the difference. Thanks for posting this since I lag alot in missions causeing to d/c.

If you're lagging it's because your internet connection and/or hardware sucks. No kind of software will fix it, so don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

Now, if you mean slow down, then maybe this would help. I play window'd at 1024x768 on a 1280x1024 flat screen monitor, and I don't have any issues to speak of with PSU, so I won't be using this "work around".

It's just a workaround mostly to turn the priority for the GameGuard program down and PSU's up, instead of GameGuard hogging resources. And yes, I doubt it will fix any connectivity lag, but it helps for video problems. This can also be used Offline if you include the offline exe (don't remember the name, or is it just offline? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif )in the list of high priority programs.

Wanting to add a little bump here to see if this gets a little more attention for PC players not checking the second page. I apologize if it offends... somehow. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

XD eh I use it, but I have a pretty new computer/graphics card so it doesnt make a difference to me; since PSU only uses like 20% of my computers resources anyway -bragbrag- XD

i found this a while ago and it helped my PC alot. the game runs much better for me with it.
(i have a pretty high spec pc its just my terrible graphics card that slowed me down)

I used it shortly, but then it effed up AiM and iTunes while playing. iTunes kept skipping and
AiM froze. Basically, my computer froze, 'cept for PSU. -_-

i never really run anything other than psu when playing because of the alt-tab risk and everything, but sometimes i ran media player and i also had the skipping problem i solved it by adding the application to the priority list.

I don't know what the hell it did, but response time was lagging by 1 second. Like browsing my inventory, and even firing and strafing.

Oh well, thanks for sharing though, hopefully others find it useful.

Thanks for this.

Is there any reason this can't be done from the Task Manager?

Flick
Jun 22, 2007, 04:25 AM
you can't get to the psu tasks in task manager because you can't change priority while it isn't running and you can't while it is because when you get to task manager it will close psu which will then remove it from the tasks list

Reason why I got confused:

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e349/skyepic/Untitled-2copy.jpg

=8=
On the main autogear window. Right click on each of the newly added entry, and select "low" for the files you've added in =6=, and "high" for the files you've added in =7=. These came up as the following characters on my screen (low = 'a (funny a) high = , )

For those who may be seeing other encodings, basically, for each entry, right click and select the 6th entry and 12th entry for low, and 2nd and 8th entry for high.
So like, 6th and 12th entry is "low" and 2nd and 8th entry is "high?" Ahh I see. The symbols are the same. But whats the difference between the two versions of each entry?

i'm not really sure it only comes up as squares for me. you'd probabaly have to learn chiniese(?) or ask someone who can understand it

but i guess it sets processor and RAM priority to high and low for their respective entries

OOOHH... I see. I had to select BOTH of each. So it ran smoothly for me for a bit then I get a long delay for movement once every loading.

So far it skips a lot for music and such... Hmm. I might need more ram for it to process >.>;

By then it should work smoothly. Thanks though.

cool =) i'm not sure about the RAM thing i'm using 2gb and i still get lots of skips when playing ,one way around it is to add the music process to auto gear and setting a high priority.. from what i know it works. i've tried it with task manager and that helped i'm going to try the autogear thing once i get home to see wether it's more effective

Hehe I tried that on here as well. It still processes with skip during loading sessions. I'll mess around with it more later. It seems like it has the potential to work if I just get the right settings.

oh ok, thank you http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif ( was using the trial version of Winzip lol, and it sucks monkey's ass <.> )
Edit
Hmm.. Why does everything cost money XD Winrar... i'd have to use the credit card lol, mom locked it away in the safe for no reason at all. Is this Autogear thing worth it? >_>
