Well, it went deeper, they crashed uni's, room's, bombed PM's, filled the server with hacks. This recent outburst means they may be back to add all those other fun incentives. I'm not sure if leaving the main Uni will help us much. I will say most cool people I've met are through here,it's just not going to help the rumor that all of us are elitist pricks.

About 2 months into me playing this game I got hacked and taken for all I was worth,I wasn't thrilled but I had a chance to restart and do my character Einhart right. I've sat down and watched the game pass me by. It's not pretty on our servers. People can't even agree on photon prices. You could say I'm pretty ticked that everyone is making this game to seem like the worst thing ever.

I do my best to welcome new ID's to the game,I give out some starting money for clothes early weapons,sometimes I make some just to hand out etc. I run them to lvl 7-10 usually.
I do my damn best to welcome them,let them know that this community is one of the best there is,and then some fellow makes it his mission to crash a server? Yeah,thanks guy. Your a real internet superhero.

It's really hard to explain to the new people why we have so little population,it gets tiresome to say "Well,we got hacked pretty bad,scared some of the nice people off."

Sometimes I even find myself reccomending 360,just so they have a chance to experience what this game has to offer.

I've gotten quite a few of my irl friends interested in this game,some have stayed and love it,others are hesitant because I'm not able to help them all the time and they have to find parties in the same places. Anyway,I'm getting off topic.

There aren't enough of us on PS2/PC to pull this shit. We don't have much choice other than to stick out. Hopefully AoI will bring us new blood,or by that time I'll prolly cop out and switch to 360. (No wait,fuck that. I won't but still.)

When the hell did I say it was my job to do that? I just said I'd prefer it that way, and it makes me happy when people go there after the uni2 crash which I most likely would have done anyways.

Stick with it, enjoy the game as much as you do usually, and more importantly, just get on with playing the same game, just as before. If people start quitting over it, then collectively we make the game's community even more spread out. Well I am for getting together with the PSO community. But if we isolate ourselves then who will be there to teach the new bloods that do join the game how fun it can be. Their only chance would be if they stumbled uppon us on accident. But then again if we were all on uini 15 and there was one star lit up that also draws atention should this crashing truly be the work of hackers we have just hung up a big sign saying "Hey come crash us". The solution: Move to uni 15 when we do events and party together, if you are just out playing around then go to the other uni and spread the PSOW love.

no actually, most hackers, especially in this game, you never even see what they do. Their hacking has no effect on you. No one realizes there are plenty of hackers in this game not doing anything to anyone, but then you have 2 or 3 doing the meseta steal, deco steal, shop wipes, PM bomb etc.

Most of them refuse to crash or server or do anything to other players, they just do things to make the game more fun for themselves that you don't even know is going on. You're making a judgement about the group when you only see the outcome of the asshole ones.

That's actually all I normally do. Stuff that only affects me and no one else. If I ever steal from someone's room or anything, they either asked me to (to prove to them I could or w/e) or they're my friend in real life. Like I've said before, I discovered the server crash while working on something that only affects me. I just didn't realize that the thing I was affecting was going to send enough junk data to the server to crash it.

It's a person causing the crashes, so it's always going to be the most populated universes that crash. In my opinion, a universe isn't worth being in unless a lot of people are there (or I have a full party of friends), and that would probably have to be at least one star. I bet that even with one star, that universe would be a target. So there's really not much you can do if you want to see good crowds except for wait for ST to fix the glitch or whatever it is, which they should because it's ridiculous.

Just because the servers are crashing doesn't mean its the work of hackers. People jump to that conclusion way too quickly just because of all the hacking that occured before. Considering the problems with the billing site that went on for a full month its most likely just a server glitch. I mean even when we don't have updates they still need to take down the servers for maintenence right? Servers need a lot of upkeep to continue to run efficiently. They can still develop bugs and other problems they aren't immune to that kind of stuff. And honestly considering the hackers from before they would be all over every forum screaming and laughing about what they did. They would want to brag as much as possible about that and I haven't seen that happen yet.

I can only hope that this server crashing is just a glitch on sega's part. Like someone else said, segaplay (while being a total different department) also had issues of their own. Perhaps someone important is on vacation or somethin. And they gotta get rid of their interns who's screw'n up!

Actually I'm currently writing a Fanfic featuring my characters in great detail. Vic and Ein regularly spar and train with one another. Based on the story,I can't say much about it,but if Vic and Ein were to properly fight (SUV's aside) it would be closer to a draw. Vic is unusually tall,a lot of strength comes from that.

And as for a third person,I can't promise it would be pretty for the 3rd guy. Considering the rules would be gone,and it would be pretty likely they'd team up against the other. Gentleman or not,this Pirate plays dirty.

This kind of thing is really bothersome. I don't know if the 360 servers were as populous back before the hack attacks as they are now, but Alex's "I'm Just Messing With Stuff That Only Affects Me Except When I Take Requests To Crash Servers Or Am Just Bored" are probably going to kill off the rest of the population in the PC/PS2 servers.

So what if it's not an FSOD? It's still annoying and if hackers push around the player base too much for their own amusement, they're going to cause people to leave. Repeatedly crashing the servers is not going to make ST fix that hole--it's only going to ruin the servers, much like TMG and Broomop did.

I get the feeling that Alex doesn't actually care, though. He might say that (most of the time) he only does things that affect him so people think of him as a white hat, but he also praises EnvY for thinking like him, what with his "Crash All Servers Except Uni 1 Bow To Your Haxor God >.>" attitude. (Maybe that's why EnvY says he has no friends in his signature? Hmm ... )

That and Alex always stops by to bask in the attention he gets after he crashes a populated universe like 02, which is hardly doing things that only affect himself--especially when he does it a few more times. Once is enough, Alex--you've proven you can do it, you showed how you crashed server 11 after you made your comeback when you crashed Uni 02 the first time.

Ultimately, I'd like to see Alex inform Sonic Team about the vulnerability to their servers.

Even if Alex actually does keep to his word after this and he no longer crashes servers on request or for his pleasure, someone else is going to find out about it. And when they do it'll likely be a script kiddie confederation that turns the PC/PS2 servers into a demolition derby.

Off the top of my head, I'd say to report it using their inquiry form.

Either General Inquiry or Technical Support. As Einhart will recall, at one point I experienced a very exotic kind of client crash--one that wasn't addressed in their Troubleshooting or FAQs.

Since I didn't know the type of error it involved I reported the client crash to General Inquiry and got some useful help that way.

This is the only way I know how to reliably contact them. I don't know if they'll respond/react to a report sent directly to their email rather than through the form.

SoA's staff might be able to fix this if it's a flubber in their own servers and not something that's inherent to PSU's server software. Even then they'd probably inform Sonic Team about it (or so I hope).
