View Full Version : Would Macros be good for PSU?

Lonzell

I think PSU should really impliment Macros. Maybe to the select button, or shoulder triggers for the 360. also the obvious F1-12 buttons for PC, and shoulder buttons for the PS2.

The uses? One specific use I had in mind, that I think a lot of people would agree on.... Armor swaping. Being able to swap between your different elemental armor on the fly. Depending on the missions, it could be really useful. Like some missions where you have both fire elemental attacks + ice attacks on a single stage.

What is everyones thoughts on this idea?

That's a hell of an idea. I'm constantly switching armors in missions like Rainbow Beast S2.

Make a petition and email it to them!! This would be a sweet idea... Get every element of armor, The only problem is slot, You would have to equip the ones that get removed if the armor doesn't have that slot..

That is the beauty of macros, but i'm not sure if they could impliment it that way. Normally with a macro in MMORPG, you can create it so that specific equipment is swaped into one specific one at a time.

In other words, have it set up so that on one single palette that a armor is on, you have that specific one also already config'd to swap in specific head/body/arm/extra slot pieces you want in that one.

Not that I think of it, for those of you who are familiar with FFXI (Because i've seen a lot of you motha's on this game comparing FiGunners with Doublesabers to Dragoons), you'd be familiar with the system of armor swaping through macro palettes.

Just have it set up in the option menu to what setup you want on one, and assign it to a single button on a third palette adjacent to the Weapon and Item ones.

You used the wrong "finnish" as well....spelled your way, it means "of or related to Finland or it's inhabitants".

And I won't even talk about that extra "s"....

How about they just impose a penalty for switching armors during a mission (or rather, in/around combat)?

That sounds fine and dandy. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Oh man. You don't know how much I miss PSO:BB's hotkey system.

On PSO:BB, with one keystroke I'd get whatever item I need. Here in PSU, to do the same thing I often have to fight with my palette. Even if I set it up for easy access, it's still frustrating--and I've died a few times when I focused on trying to access my item palette to get one thing or another.

This armor idea would be pretty awesome actually...

But what I really want is the ability to have 8 slots open to melee and support spaces. Armor too would work then.

Why is there only 6 Sega...? ;_;

Shield line switching macros? Are you really that dependent upon shield line elements? Poor things when you set foot in the Neudaiz party mission http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

It has less to do about dependency, and more to do about fringe benefit. Having the option to do that would helpm dispite it not being a necessity.

the hell? yes!

as a fortefighter when on Neudaiz (and other places), i need to sawp between fire and ice armor and be real concious of what enemy is out of my sight.

if i have fire armor on and a Komatoze charges up, should i stand back and plink away with my handgun, or swap to ice armor and get in there with my spear?

Some can be.

But 8 palette slots and armor switching as easy as a weapon or quick-use mate? Oh, I'd almost eternally love Sega for something like that. Even though it must be pretty ridiculously easy to do; them doing it is the hard part.

No. No, no, no, no, NO. If anything, you shouldn't be allowed to switch armor at all, or have to incur a penalty (such as being unable to do anything for some time...much like with switching weapons although that's only because the weapons take too damn long to load!) for switching shield lines so much. That could make neutral or low % armor actually have a purpose. Well, during multi-element missions anyway...

Yuh, R + Y, on the Gamecube at least.

'Cept you couldn't do armors there. It was Consumables, Weapons, and Techniques.

Dance macros, nanoblast/SUV macros, macros to announce that even though you are a tranny you still like to be treated like a lady.

Edit: Last one was a macro I had because I did want to be treated nicely. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

That's the sort of macro that works well in turn-based fighting systems, so you don't have to manually input EVERYONE'S commands, and to facilitate the use of multi-person combination attacks. Now why doesn't PSU have those kinds of attacks?...(imagine combining that missile salvo SUV with a foi tech to make shootingstar!)

Really, a macro is something that allows you to combine commands into a single string. These are usually assigned to a hotkey and are more commonly seen in real MMORPGs. For example...

/Say "Hello I am a big jerk!"
/technique Foie
/technique Resta

wrapped neatly in a single command like /macro 1 and perhaps assigned to a hotkey or something. Just by hitting this one command you say something, use a tech and then use another tech. I just don't see how it would work right with the way this game works. And it's better that it doesn't work this way!

What yousee in PSU is merely a chat shortcut. It's like

/shout "Skrew you guys, I'm goin' home".

and you cannot put another command in that string. Hardly a macro.
A macro would allow you to switch equipment, say thins, use attacks, change equipment again, say something else, change equipment again, use an item, do an emote, all with the input of one command. And perhaps even allow you to LOOP this string of commands.

How it works hardly matters. I'd still be able to input /equip extra "Blitz Buster", which would be much easier than going into my menu and manually doing it.

They should make a macro to switch out my current palette with another one, so its like i have 12 weps on hand.
