well, there's a chance it could, which is why these are sometimes locked in the past. but then there are plenty of times where enough people don't really care enough about it for the thread to even be worth locking. Another thing is those who are well known here generally already have a reputation built already, or become known for something. While everyone is treated equal by rules, we generally have a sort of unspoken heirarchy which is rarely actually spoken about, and can only be determined by FKL users overall reactions to a users post. Keeping this hierarchy an unspoken thing, we lock away any chance that users have an excuse to feel lower then someone else, or lower chances for someone to incite an argument. Threads like these however can potentially disrupt that, and drag the hierarchy out into the open, which may cause resentment in those users that have low approval compared to others. So they're locked so there is no actual evidence and thus no legitimate excuse for anyone to copmlain.
