So I have a level 76 beast fighgunner and he can't go any higher at fighgunner. I was thinking about changing his class so to keep things fresh, but don't want to make him a fortefighter...he's pretty good as a fighgunner with accuracy and such...I was wondering how he would be as a fortegunner...would he be gimped or not? thx in advance

he will do fine as fortegunner. I have a friend that use a beast for his fortegunner, and he is doing fine. Just about 100 ata less than a Cast, but you can still hit things normally. I said "Go for it" http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Beast fortegunner is definately NOT gimped. My main is a lvl 73 M beast/ fortegunner 10. The accuracy mod is big enough that you shouldn't have to worry about your accuracy. The only thing you may have a bit of trouble hitting with is grenade launchers, but you most likely won't miss very much. But still, I have found grenade launcher to be one of the most useful weapons in the game. You don't have to worry about low damage either. Now I mainly use shotgun, my electric bullets are lvl 19 (They aren't very high yet because I too was figh for the longest time but got bored and made the switch). In her secret mission C (I can't remember my damage totals off the top of my head from higher rank missions sorry) when I use my shotgun which currently has 4 bullets, each bullet hits for about 200. So if all of my bullets hit a single enemy, I'm doing 800+. With 5 bullets I should be doing 1000+ if all bullets hit.

So I say, why not try it? You can always switch back to figh if you don't like fortegunner.

I'll be the first to say: Don't do it, just because someone will eventually. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif You're free to do what you want, but keep in mind, being a fortegunner isn't about doing damage. If you want to do straight damage, stay hunter-typed. Fortegunner is a support class, with the best high level SE spreading (Rifles), and great "taunting" abilities. Damage is just something you do on the side. That's why Casts are the best class for gunners: ATA is what's important.

And good luck hitting things with beast-grenade launchers >_>

You make me laugh with how you're so against beast gunners. Have you tried it? If not how do you know its so bad. I play it so I Know its not as bad as you think. And you know what else, I don't really have much problem hitting with a GL either.

Maybe she's against classes she doesn't see as "fit". Beasts come off as melee-weapon-wielding, rather than gun-totting. Then again, who knows. I personally wouldn't make a Beast gunner, but they don't suck as badly as people claim. Zoa plays a ForteFunnger on Zelas, and she does a lot with traps and various guns.

It's true though. Lower ata weapons is why other classes have higher ata as fG. Granted, you'll still do decent enough. Also keep in mind the damage as a beast fG isn't much more at all compared to a cast fG. Soon enough the race bonuses will top it too ;D

Not trying to sound rude here, so don't take it the wrong way. Beast fG's are still good.

Another thing... people need to stop saying Ranger's aren't meant for damage -.- DoT Se4's can dish out good damage really, especially infect on high hp enemies. Rifle's can deal out lots of damage. So can crossbows. Don't think you're not meant for damage and get all "lazy ranger" XD

just like newman being fortefighter...That didnt stop people from being that class they want to be...lol. Gosh, a Cast can be fortetecher is he/she wants. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

But yeah, I played with Kaiaphas before at Desert Terror S2...we do just fine, and I acknowledge his character as an awesome beast fortegunner. Miyoko does got a point about the damage thing...fortegunner doesnt really need damage though except maybe GL or shotty.
Oh, and Ashley was also there with me and Kaiaphas when we were playing DT S2 as well. Fortegunner rules! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

The only thing not sitting with me is the whole "Rangers are support" thing. SE comes with damage unless you use traps, which counts as offensive. Supports involve buffing and healing, which Techers do. I recall Techers being either nukers or full-on support, sometimes even half and half. However, when it comes to Rangers, in MY honest opinion, they're the same thing as Hunters, just not in the front lines. As in, doing damage from distance. High DPS cancels out the high damage of a Hunter, does it not?

It's pretty close. They have their multi target, somewhat aoi guns, their single enemy forcus rifles, etc. They can still deal good damage which I agree with you on. They can however support , somewhat. There are those ulti bullets which are mostly support focused, and certain traps can help in rough situations. It's barely a focus of fG's to use those tactics anyhow though.

Gunners can choose to support or do damage... depends on the element they pick. Burn or virus can deal lots of extra damage, while shock or silence or confuse has a long-lasting defensive SE.

I'm not saying that if you're a beast fortegunner, you'll be completely useless. You'll still be useful, yeah, it's not like you're going to be completely worthless or anything. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif You'll just have a harder time is all.

And "don't really have much problem"... Considering that I, a 55/8 cast fortegunner, have trouble hitting with a grenade launcher without the support of Zodial, I doubt you have no difficulty hitting with one ;p Haven't you noticed I use my grenade launcher more when Shai's around? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I myself, and I'm sure many others, when we say "Rangers aren't meant for damage" are referring to the ATP aspect of dealing damage. I can't speak for everyone, but when I say "rangers aren't meant for damage", I mean that through utilizing ATP.

But, that doesn't mean your PA's can't be for damage. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif That's an entirely different story. However, that still relies on ATA, not ATP. Also...

There are many other types of support than "healing and buffing". The taunt effect of guns is a control effect. Control effects, in the world of MMOs, are often seen as support. Support involves buffing and healing, yes, you're right in that regards, but support also involves taunting, juggling, knockback, and doing things -other than damage- to assist your teamates. Surely you've noticed how much less you get hit when playing with a good ranger, yes?

Perhaps my definition of support is a little more broad than most, but in my experience on multiplayer games, I've found that support = control related assistance.

Also, I forgot to include in my first responce: If you're expecting Fortegunner to be similar to Fighgunner in play style, and that's why you're changing, I'd be careful about switching over. Be prepared for a major play style overhaul if you decide to switch!
