i could never get into the scouts when I was a kid, sure the whole make and race boxcar/paper boat derby were fun, but I never found it that great. I do like camping, but it's not something I would do regularly, and I never joined at the age when they did that. To much order, to much hierarchy, it's like corporate business meets kids.

AlexCraig
Jul 11, 2007, 06:04 PM
Yeah. Not much is going on. Things really only kick up when I ACTUALLY show up. I am sure that if I don't go every once in a while, my friends (which is half the troop) won't show up either. The lack of boys will end the troop and I will be the one the scoutmaster will blame because he is a prick and hates me.

http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif That is why I am starting an underground rebellion against the adults. I made an 'unofficial' survey about what the boys wanted from the troop. Most said they wnted to have fun. When asked if they are having fun, the general answer was no due to the scoutmasters. I make the program more enjoyable for them, but the other adults like to restrict many of the actual fun things and replace them with "fun" things. Kian (With) is struggling to keep order, but it is not looking good.
You know, I may bring my camera and take videos while there tonight.

Be sure to censor everyone's face unless they signed that waiver thing.

Sord
Jul 11, 2007, 06:10 PM
the answer is clear then, you should hold a mutiny amoung the scouts. Usurp the scoutmaster and take his position. You can bribe the underlings with "Human Disposal" and "Gravedigging" badges. Then create another secret sect of the scouts that will forbid them from talking about how they got into it (the mutiny.)

AlexCraig
Jul 11, 2007, 06:16 PM
Hehehe. Well I don't want to be scoutmaster. I will live with my current position as an Assistant Scoutmaster. We are usurping, but we are mostly in the planning stages right now. To answer one of your prior questions, Tact, I get blamed for a ton of shit I don't do or can't help. I can't carry a canoe, and I was blamed for injuring our guide in Canada when she carried a pack (something I CAN do). I was left behind in a swamp with 2/3 my crew and they did not come back when I blew an SOS whistle. There are many other things, but the list is huge. So I am a liason between the scouts and the leaders. I work for the leaders, but I am trying to help the boys.

Sord
Jul 11, 2007, 06:24 PM
fine, hold a democratic election to nominate a new scoutmaster and knock yourself off the ballet. that's probably the scouts thing to do anyways. Not that I would honestly know. Giving it a second glance, I don't think I would want to rule a bunch of little boys either.

AlexCraig
Jul 11, 2007, 06:25 PM

AlexCraig
Jul 11, 2007, 06:37 PM
http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif Well. We'll see.
If I do take videos, they will probably try to stop me. They did before. I was taking video and they said "Put that camera away." Yet, during Couts of Honor, when we pass out awards earned, cameras are everywhere taking pictures of that same things that happened four months ago.
So, what? A casual meeting can't have pictures taken? Are they covering up something? Like their cruelness? I tell you now, if I take vids this meeting, they will most likely try to be all polite, but you can tell there is scorn behind their words.
This does not go for all leaders, though. Some are pretty cool and let me and the boys get away with a lot. The main purpotrators are the scoutmaster, his second in command, his wife, and one other asst. scoutmaster.

well, from what I've read, aside from the aversion to technology in general, boyscouts like to keep things hush hush. So much so that people question if it itsn't a secret society type thing, like your order of the arrow. the way I figure though, in the next 20 years the organization will be good for is soldiers, no one else will bother to leave the comfort of their homes and tech they grew up as kids with. Sure, they'll be a few groups that are always outdoorsy and traditional, but they will be less the norm as we techno geeks take over the planet. Plus there's the whole paving everything over with concrete thing we humans do so well http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
