Alright. So I just got my first launcher, and wanted your opinions on the most useful PA (not including the Ultimate PA for it). My guess would be Ice, but I already have Frozen Prism and Frozen Hit; but if it's really good for the launcher I'll get it.

And on a side note, what SE does it start as?

I'm sure even without a PA, it'd still be just as useful. As a hunter, I love grenade launchering rangers. Thank you for saving me from the mean Kamatozes.

ice because it absolutely destroys de ragan and gol dova. dark is good for kog nadds.

i wouldnt worry much about SE. the launcher only gets SE lv 2 at best. its more for damage and occasionally crowd control.

Uh, no. It gets SE3 at 21+.

Ice is good for De Ragan indeed, but pushing back enemies is the purpose of a grenade launcher, so freezing them kind of defeats that purpose.

I like using the lightning PA on bunches of small/medium sized enemies, sends em flying, and makes things easier for hunters.

And that's why I wanted to know the SE; it kinda dictated my decision. And thanks for the good examples. Backs up my opinion (and obviously yours as well).

And electric would have probably been my second choice for that reason. But the lack of ground enemies kinda gave me some hesitation.

Personally, the Ground and Light Grenades are really useful. Pushback+Silence or Confuse.
Plus, they occur more than say.. Burn and Virus. Also, Shock isn't too bad. Ice, like Retehi
said, is kind of pointless.

I'd say ground, it's one of the three PAs to get the extra 5% damage mod, and outside of moatoob there are very view ground type enemies

I also voted ground: for grinning beta's, but also for dragon killin' (zolagoug is lightning). But it hits any of them pretty hard in 4 places.

The ground bullets also inflict slience, and silenced gohmon, AND knocked over gohmons are useless gohmons.

Fire, and Virus would be the other 2 contenders. Fire for the SE damage, Dark for SE, and for strateria killin' - though you will not be infecting anything large.

Light is not really a contender, in my mind.

i voted for Ground but wanted to vote for Light.

Light and Ground are the only two you ever need. Being able to confuse enemies in mass, especially dangerous enemies who throw spells is awesome. Its especially useful in the hive where at least 3 of the 5 large type enemies are susceptible to range damage and throw out spells. Also, it fits the MO of the Launcher perfectly. You're being bombarded by bbqsplosions, you should scared as hell and panicking and confused! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I voted for fire seeing as Burn SE3 works on large creatures... And I also love the smell of napalm in the morning. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cool.gif

i'd say ice is pointless... not because freezing is pointless, but because the launcher's ultimate PA insta-freezes. i haven't gotten it for myself (my poor beast ata at the moment is pretty pathetic... i'll get it eventually), but ive seen it in action and insta-freezing is definetly great.

insta-freeze means cancelling magic using mosters more often, which means more opprotunity for hard hitting melee players to get up close and personal.

I voted Fire. Once you hit SE3 you'll be torching large monsters while pinning 'em to the ground, makes soloing big creatures stupidly easy. Personally I've got Fire, Earth, and Dark all at lv21+ ... earth and dark being good elements for the two types of large robot. The SE's come in handy sometimes too (gohmons, worms)

If you have the PA space get Fire, Ground, Ice, and Dark in that order. Fire is good because...well, Burn is awesome. Ground has the best ATP mod, and lots of Lighting creatures in this game so that's a good choice. Ice is really only effective on bosses and enemies that aren't susceptible to throwback (Jarbas, Grinna Bettes, Polavohras, etc.) Dark has Virus, which is decent alternative to Burn, also the ATP mod is good.

Tita--Ice is good for the reasons I stated above. Also, the ultimate for Grenade Launchers isn't all that great. It's only Lvl 1 Freeze (that will give you a couple seconds at best) and the PP drain is crippling. You will get about 7-8 shots out of a Grenade Launcher before its empty at 21+. And unless you plan on being GT of fG, the Beast ATA will probably hurt you a lot.

Instant Freeze is actually worse for cancelling spells. All other grenade launcher bullets have throwback, so their spell would be cancelled anyway. Plus you can do it to more targets with a much better ATA mod.
