I think a single S rank that you found by yourself, without any help, spending weeks doing so, and matches your character perfectly, is worth more than two S ranks that wouldn't benefit you.

Yeah, that's what happened to me. I had to check multiple times to make sure the board dropped and not another copernia (I'm really hating those things now), moving back and forth to make sure the name was right. After I picked it up, I made sure it was in my inventory. I made sure again when I abandoned the mission, and once more when I went to my room. Then I checked to make sure it was in my common box when I deposited it, and checked again when I logged on my striking PM alt. I check her inventory when she picked it up, and I made sure I inserted it and not a different board. I inserted the materials, and searched player shops ceaselessly until I found a decent priced Catilium, and put that into my PM as soon as I could (I didn't even switch characters to look for the catilium). When all was ready, I made sure to check to see if I inserted all the materials correctly, and checked a few times to see if it was synthing correctly. I was very careful to only look at the board when it was in the PM, and not select it for fear of canceling the synthesis. I checked the time, and made sure to log on at the same time tomorrow. I had trouble sleeping because of the anxiety, and the thought of it synthing troubled me all day.
And then, when it finally came time to synth, I quickly took out the item to find a trimate.

Throwing the PS2 seemed like a good idea at the time.

It was technically this day. That Skela is almost a perfect match for Levia. Though I'm not a huge fan of fists, the simple shape of the weapon is enough to scream "I'm aquatic, and you need me to be even more aquatic".
Ah, well, now that I got the board, I know that I'm capable of getting another one, even if it's by myself. Assuming the mission isn't changed again, I can hunt this for as long as necessary. As well as the promise of the weapon, I'm also getting exp and meseta, as well as PA experience, so it's not a total loss. And besides, if I wasn't hunting rares, what would I be doing?

I've been noticing that. Lv100 monsters don't really have much right to be dropping synth materials for weapons we can buy with our PP refilling money. Beyond that, they're getting in the way of monsters dropping materials that I want.
