I've been told that I can use a router fix the horrendus PPPoE d/c problems I've been having, but I need to know what brand of router is cheapest that will still do the job. I'm on bit of a budget http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Groovy. I think I responded to another thread about this earlier... I'm sorry, I'm kind of out of it at the moment. Have a cold. (Yes, two days before Christmas. Trust me, I'm loving it.)

I'm kinda regularly maintaining this thread:

Although it says that the router is sold out on the website, that does not mean it is sold out at your local CompUSA. You can call and give them the item number, and they will be able to tell you if they have it in stock or not.

So long as a router will let you run a DHCP server, you will be fine with PSO. You don't need VPN technology, so if a router costs more because it has that, pass it by.

A router which allows you to set up all computers as DMZ Hosts -- basically, able to access any ports whenever necessary -- is also ideal. If you cannot do that with whichever router your purchase, then Snappuru posted elsewhere what ports PSO uses, so you can enable them.

There's also this router, which is a flat price without any rebates...

While it does not say on the webpage that it can use DHCP, you may want to ask about it, because it very well may. There are a few routers available on websites which do not outright say they can serve as DHCP servers, but they have the ability. For some reason, it's not always marketed.

If you're curious, this is the exact router I personally use, and I love it:

It normally runs for $49.99, however. I purchased it on sale. Nonetheless, it will give you an idea of the features you want, although again, the most important one is the ability to run a DHCP server.

Also, give http://www.pricegrabber.com a try, if all else fails. Oh, and http://www.cnet.com, too.

Hope I've helped you, man. Once again, purchasing a router is something you will not regret. It will benefit you for more than PSO.
