Ok, is it really weird that I can like some RPG type games and not really play the Final Fantasy series? I've played FF1 on an emulator and FF3 for DS but, these two boys laughed at me since I never played FF7 or FF8.

"How could you like anime or RPGs if you never played FF7?"

Eh. Truth is, until like last year or 2 years ago, i never played FF7 either. Just got ff8 for christmas. I dont think you NEED to play them to like RPG's/anime.
Tell them they fail for needing a game to enjoy anime/ RPG's. Although it is up there, FF7 IS NOT THE BEST RPG.

personally, I don't like FF rpgs. In fact, I don't like harldy any menu based RPGs, and I still count 12 as menu based, even if it is more real time than normal.

Real Time RPGs I like though, Fable, Oblivion, Morrowind, some consider Zelda one but I call it a platformer. Xenogears (not Xenosaga) I liked. That's the closest to a menu RPG I'll get and still beat the game without losing out to boredom.

my favourite FF were 5 and Tactics. I'm a fan of the job system.

Oh but van, if you have a ps2, i do suggest you get ff7, as well as ff10. Best of the best.

Gameplay for ff10 is better IMO, not active battle but wait. Both stories are good.
Check them out. They are worth it.
Then again, i LOVE FF games. I LOVE menu based RPG's.

I'm really more of an action RPG guy myself, though Pokemon I let slide.

Also I don't own a PS2, I bought a Dreamcast http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif. They also thought that was weird <_<;
Hey, when I was young if a system had Sonic the Hedgehog on it I'll buy it.
