View Full Version : Is this game on life support now, do you think?

Yeah... I haven't played PSU in a few long time since january... And I missed out on that firebreak event...

I've asked a few of my friends if they still play PSU, and most of them said they've realized that the game isn't all that it's cracked up to be...

Which makes me wonder... How many people actually even play this anymore? I know that the servers don't give out actual numbers, but from what people say, each star represents around 200+ players or something like that...

I think PC had stayed pretty solid from where it's been for a while. I still say it's a shame that both servers can't play together. There's probably a lot of cool people to meet.

I've seen Uni2 hit 4 stars, so I'd say that there's over 1000 active players. However, not that many are ON at the same time.

Eh... That's good enough for me... Did sega get rid of some of the empty universe servers that players rarely use?

And how was the Firebreak or whatever it's called event?

I think ST should initiate bi-monthly SEED invasions to keep the community on its toes. It doesnt have to be as big as firebreak was, but a week long invasion would be pleasant to get the community back in action.

The reason it appears people are switching to the 360 in my opinion is probably the DEMO Weekends. But the demo requires Xbox Live Gold, which costs more money alltogether just for a few rare items. (Items that everyone with a Gold account will have, mind you.)

I play the 360 version because my PC is a piece of crap, and I happen to have a 360. The Demo weekends are just a bonus.

But the immature people you meet on PSU for the 360 isn't as bad as you'd think. Especially when compared to other Xbox Live games. *cough-bomberman-Gears of War-Halo*

But there are still a fair share of supremists. But there's also a fair share of people on my blacklist. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

While they did fix the Hax, they didn't clear out the people who already had TONS and TONS of meesta saved and stashed away...And with all the meesta, they could go out and synth as many weapons/armours as they wanted; that's why you have so many 50% armours/weapons on the PS2/PC servers.

So, IMO, it won't really balance out until the AoI release...So ppl will trade/sell away all their 50% weapons/armours/etc. for the new stuff.

That's not gonna fix anything. They already run there constantly, the invasion thing is just gonna keep them there more. All that's going to do is kill every other mission that only hardcore people do.

The game seems to be very stable in terms of population, sure some players that started early have drifted off (thats to be expected) but alot of new players have filled the void. It's no where near WOW numbers but its far from in the red... and it'll probably surge on AOI...

That's pretty much dead wrong. Walk around and count all the players in the lobbies and in missions. I guarantee you'll have more than 250-375. There are also tons of people that idle in their room. Just because you don't see 1000 people crammed into Raffon doesn't mean nobody is playing the game.

The 360 has Live, which makes it possible to get "all the good stuff" easily (and most importantly for SEGA, I believe, cheaply). While the PC and PS2... don't. You want "the good stuff", you have to come over to the Bill Side.

Now someone tell me why some useless room decorations are "the good stuff".

"Good stuff" is subjective, anyways. Screw the Sonic figures, I'll take my Rappies any day.

yea you guys got hacked once....and from what I understand by hanging out on the trade boards, the fallout is still rather ridiculous....Ive heard things mentioned like 40k for copernias, same for kubara wood.I don't even want to think abotu what rare slot units go for on the pc servers.meseta for you guys is so easy to attain because EVERYBODY has got so much, its somewhat ridiculous when the market is flooded by 50% 9* grinded 10 weapons because everybody has got the money to mass produce and mass grind the weapons.

yea hacked once you all were, and that musta been fun/sucked depending on which side of the spectrum you were on.but the effects are still there, and to merge the worlds pc ps2 and the 360...it would completely destroy the 360 community's economy which is hanging by a hair in the first place.

that isn't cocky, its not wanting my game to be destroyed.its supposed to be challenging to attain highly powerful weapons and the like, and haxeta(not that it still exists and watever, but lets admit that the ps2 servers still have a lot of extra money floating around) completely wipes that notion away.

that's why I wouldnt want pc/ps2 to merge with 360.

edit:on topic, this game is not on life support, its about to get a serious boost with the expansion coming out.if that doesnt draw new players, itll at least refresh old ones and draw back those who turned away.

and its not like i wouldnt like to meet the people from pc ps2 servers but for both economy's sake it would simply become a really annoying game to play especially while the 360 players would be getting screwed over in the process of adapting to the new regime.

fair point and Im pretty delighted to hear that.

however, the 360 already has its fair share of idiots who price things as though they had the IQ of 4(four).any of us psow'ers who play on the 360 servers can testify that your mood will quickly go red the very second you start searching the player shops.
