Do these items increase the speed of the casting animation? Or do they only shorten the time the tech focuses? (When the graphic shows up on the end of the wand / rod).

I was using diga lv1, and I noticed the tech takes almost no time to focus. But it still isn't fast because the casting animation is so slow. So I was wondering, do those tech speed items speed up the animation as well? If not, that's pretty disappointing. Even if all techs casted at lv1 diga speed, it would still be too slow for my taste.

They decrease the focus time, the time your character spends waving his wand about before swinging. If tier 1 Diga with a /Quick is too slow for you...well, teching might not be for you.

Edit: Mind you, as your spells increase in tier (1-10, 11-20, 21-30), the focus time gets longer. So while it may seem meh now, the difference is handy at 11+ and clear as day at 21+.

I think you're probably right. I loved the way Forces were in PSO... that's what got me into the game. But now they're just slow, boring, and frustrating (linking techs and PP to weapons is the worst idea ever).

I can't really get into the other character types either. Man I wish PSO was still going.

I loved playing a Force on PSO and I've come to (after being very skeptical) really enjoy playing as a Fortetecher on PSU. Linking techs to weapons ultimately gives you a ton more versatility than in PSO. I will admit that 'techer got much more fun after I found a Har/Quick. The early levels as a Force can be pretty grim, but the class does open up in later levels.
