Laia's character overall is just horribly done.

I imagine Laia finally got the picture when everyone she talked to didn't seem to actually care that Ethan did what he did, especially Leo. The kicker was when Ethan actually reached out to her himself.

The way I see it, Laia is quick to both judge and to change her mind. She's extremely sporadic. All this time she thinks Ethan's a wanted murderer and a terrorist because of hearsay and very little evidence, but as soon as he tells her something different, bam, she's changed her mind.

It's not bad character design, I know people in real life like this. It's the first I've seen it in a hero, I'm a fan of originality.

One of the big reasons for Laia's hatred is Ethan's attempted murder of President Dallgun. The President is her father, and I'm willing to bet she's a daddy's girl. When she learns that Ethan is doing what he can to protect his own father she sees his actions in a new light.
