moving char data

Is it at all possible to move characters from one memory card to the other, permanantly. I really want to move my level 72 char to my new memory card and it doesn't let me move it on the GameCubes Memory Manager screen...

The reason Sonic Team chose this method was so that way no one you know could copy your character data and use your serial number and access key (hey, I've seen it happen before, except for the character copying thing). Sonic Team wants everyone to have their own character and access codes when they go online, unfortunately it comes at a price where you can't copy the data for back up.
