Do YOU think we will get the "Famitsu Cup"?

I personally think we'll get this event, but it won't have a company cup name associated with it, it will just be the EX missions, simply just new missions with EX.

I remember seeing the game dump that Tycho posted a long long time ago... I don't remember seeing Famitsu. I think it was EGM or Game Informer or something like that, but like I said it's been long long time ago.

And for those people who don't know what 'Famitsu' is, it's a highly regarded video game magazine in Japan.

I really really hope we do, but to be honest I have no idea. xD Some people have mentioned an "EGM Cup," but I doubt that. EGM was a big supporter of PSO but they've never supported PSU (and who could blame them? at the time they reviewed the game it only had a fraction of the content it has now).

With the all the goodies (EX missions, reward items, etc.), I'll be really disappointed if we don't get it in SOME form though. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Right now, I'd break down the probability like this:

50% chance of getting no Cup and no updates for 5-6 weeks.
49% chance of actually getting the Cup.
1% chance of getting no Cup, but catching up with JP in regular updates.

NA/EU servers has the same item database as the JPN pc/ps2 so we do have bukra Famitsu and bukra EGM. It doesn't mean if we get this event we will even be able to get a bukra wand they could just leave it out like they did w/ the real weapons in firebreak.

The normal drop rates are only fair if you have a lot of time to play, which as an adult with a job and other things to take care of, I don't have.

On the other hand, there are a number of Japanese players on the 360 server, so it would be strange to not give it to them. If they got it, the English 360 players would as well, which would be unfair to the PS2/PC group. But again, the English 360ers have gotten things the other server hasn't, albeit fairly minor items.

I heard SoA are actually a bunch of monkeys on the loose. Right now, they have a button that says "Give Famitsu cup" and one that has "2 months of no updates." One of them will hit one of those buttons sometime next week and then sometime, their trained monkey who can speak English, Clumsyorchid, will make a announcement. Thats also the reason why they don't view the boards........they can't read or write at all. So they don't give a damn what people think about what they do for the game.

1) If we don't get it, I'll be taking a very long break from PSU. Infact, I wouldn't pick back up on the game until the next update they make. Famitsu for me is for the clothing and rappy mode unit. The rares are a bonus, don't need em, all they will do is make me add a plethora of weapons to my collection that I probably won't use. Though these missions add a fair amount of units old and new and since I am a unit fanatic, those are a must have.

That also means the rares I currently have stay like that where everyone and their mom won't have them heh.

2) If we do get it, fine. Now I have to somehow take time out from college to play. Even then, I won't be playing much except on weekends probably.

3) If we get Dark satilite S2 & Seed Awakened S2 first then famitsu cup, that would be dope. No even better, they release that, then the lvl 100 cap, then the new pas, then the famitsu cup. Even more dope, I could deal with that.

4) Sega knows most of the playerbase will be po'ed if they don't give it. Can't have angry customers eh? I'm sure they are aware and will post something about it either next week or during the begining of September. Remember, you 360 users are the pride and soul of PSU to SoA it seems lol so if they lose you guys, they just lost a lot of $ haha.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't be playing the game much anyways. College starts soon and I am busy with web work. Then there is another game I am addicted to. Got everything I wanted in PSU & accomplished what I wanted, just waiting on expansion tbh. So bored of just runnin x mission over and over. Need that damn casino or somethin else.

So just wait until sometime next week and then after that, you can make your asumptions. Don't worry, next week will be here soon enough......oh wait, time only goes fast for me >,>.

Umm... EGM gave PSU the highest score out of all the other popular magazine companies... something around 8.0 I believe

We are not going to get an AoI beta. There is literally 0 chance of that happening. There's a slight possiblity of something for the 360 maybe, but we will never get a beta like JP had.

You're wrong. EGM did not give PSU the best score out of large North American gaming media. The best was 1up, probably swayed by which SEGA had an agreement with based on the updates they were doling out.

However 1up doesn't have a magazine... EGM does so its possible EGM may get the naming rights to the event if it comes down to the fuss over a magazine item.

lol 1up does indeed have a magazine, it's called EGM! lol Ziff Davis media owns both. In fact if you go to 1up look at the tabs at the top, theres platforms genres, MAGAZINES. Click on magazines what does it say next? EGM of course. Also the reviewer for 1up, James Mielke, has been a regular contributor to EGM for years now.
