This guy who returns games to some store did that, how I got a basically flawless copy of Gundam on Dreamcast. I asked how it was soo scratch free and the clerk gave me that story.

Thank god it was just released at the time and I was able to find another copy easily.

No, it was actually pretty cool. When you performed an action, a ring came up, and you had to hit the highlighted area for it to succeed. To give maximum effect, you would need to hit it in the red area.
