Well I asked someone from the official forums about if we are getting maintenance, and if it was just update of a maintenance, and this is what I got. Take it for what its worth, be it good or bad (or nothing at all):

I know lol but damn. The faster we catch up then the faster we'll be able to get AOI.

Seriously. Who the hell would want to wait 3 months extra to get AOI just because people want the cup NOW to get some S-Ranks which will end up being close to worthless after the event.

if we get our updates earlier then we'll just have a big gap of no updates until AOI is released! XD

There isnt even a date set for it. Thats why im saying. Most likely if they run out of updates they'll end up releasing AOI because they'll be done with the original.
