GC Split-Screen Quest Bug?

Hello all, sorry to bother you with what may be a simple question but in offline split-screen mode how do we do quests? I go to the hunters desk with both characters and cannot get a response..

We are able to fight in the levels but without the quests it's very difficult to make money as well as far more boring.

Am I missing something?

As well I hae heard that in offline multiplayer your progress through levels is not saved.. so for example if I defeat the dragon of the forest level with a friend, save and quit, the next time I will have to do the forest again. Is this true>? So should I beat each level in single player then go back and do em in multiplayer?

You can't talk to the quest ladie or the principal in multi all you can do is go through levels and buy, sell, and deposit items.

And yeah, since the Offline Multiplayer kinda acts like Online mode if you haven't completed any of the stages Offline, the game doesn't save any opened stages during Multiplayer play.
