View Full Version : Any so called "tricks" on making grinders?

I'm just wondering if there's any real rythem or rhyme to making high grade grinders (like... 7-10?). I just wana know before I start pouring my A Grinder bases into my PM and start getting 1-5 grinders back. =/

I normally don't make grinders, but since I have a lot of spare staves, I thought I'd give grinding a go.

I personally haven't found any method that gives high rate grinders, but I find i get a good mix of various rates when I just put one grinder in at a time as opposed to making the whole batch at once.

I only have a small method for grinding but no really making grinders.

I'll just say... Always make the batch at full (5 synths all the time.) so that you would likely to always pull out A+10 grinders x5.

Even your A+1-4 grinders will be useful so don't throw those away. (They're good for your first few grinds. Especially when it always says "Very High Chance.")

The trick is: Make lots and lots of them and hope you get lucky. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

If you've got too many, sell the ones you don't need. If you're going to be doing a lot of grinding, save some of the low level ones (A+1-4) as DJ suggested. On a 3* luck day it doesn't really matter what you use for your first grind anyway.

You put it to make the grinder and then try to switch back to the lobby actions menu. If you can do all Team movements before the PM finishes synthing the grinder, you get a +100 that never fails, and even raises the PP of Crea weapons.

Hope Lady Luck doesn't piss on you.

Like she seems to piss on people like me. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

As Walter from Hellsing put it, "I highly suggest pissing yourself, followed by praying to your impudent God"

lol, but the real trick to it all is just synthing them in humongous batches

If you're on the 360, you can always (as it shows you what grinders you are getting) press the guide button and sign out. This will allow you to repeatedly attempt the same grinder bases, and thusly allow you to have high rank grinders every time. This works with any synth which has a 100% rate.

There's no real point to that, as it is extremely time consuming

It is time-consuming, but if you are really poor, it can be good.

Here's a question-- is "Very High" always the same percentage? Or are they are different percents based on the + modifier?

Dj_SkyEpic

I believe it's the same percentage since we don't have an exact number to base "Very high, High, low, etc." on.

There is a method, but it takes a while. I don't know about 360, but on the pc/ps2, there's a fix that if you attempt a grinder and turn your game off, the maximum possible grind you can do on the same board is +5.

So you can max out grinders +1-5 in your inventory and PM. Then the minimum grinder you will be able to get is +6. If it's anything lower, then overwrite that board with a new one. This method works well because you're only paying for the cost of the board each time and not for the the price of the board + the grinder bases.

i would recall the last time someone e-mailed sega about luck and someone got an actual response and one of the things it said was that it doesnt effect synthesis except for grinders...

but if i brought that up in public i'd get yelled at http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif So i use it to my advantage ^.^

Haha, I've actually experimented with that. It was pretty time consuming, but a 1-5 board will only come out 1-5. If you get a 7-10 board, you can keep rolling on it to come out a 10.

Nope.

"Very high" is anywhere from 80% to 94.9%.

The what the grinders say is too optomistic. Here's what they really mean:

"very high" = "it might work"
"high" = "i'm probably going to break this shit"
"fifty-fifty" = "haha, no."
"low" = "this is going to end in tears"

I normally don't make grinders, but since I have a lot of spare staves, I thought I'd give grinding a go.

Your chances will approximately be A+8=5%, A+9=2%, and A+10=1%. You'll see less variation from those rates as you make more (using >$1M).

I can confirm the 1-5 part but haven't tried 7-10... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif According to an old email, Sega has been aware of this, but they didn't sound concerned enough to fix it.

Edit:Retrying a board when you're full of A+7 will give you A+1-5 on the next try.

Why fix it, your weapon will (most likely) still break lol

yea a lot of people broke their frying pans when it said no chance of failure!

also my friend has broken 2 B weapons on the first grind wiht high grinders and 2* luck XD

This is news to me.. and I'd never knew the such was possible.. at least with luck involved. Besides this being one of the many secrets/tips.. what I want to know is how to successfully grind a weapon to 10..

How to successfully grind a weapon to +10... involves lots of trying not to kill yourself when you fail grinding weapons that you've managed to get to +9

In general, I stop grinding a weapon when even with 3-luck my best chances are "high".

Kion has a good point. What it says sure as heck isn't what it feels like. I think the trick is that you've got to make those rolls repeatedly, and the chance of making it through several grinds is supercrap. My feeling is that grinder quality DOES modify success chances slightly.

Getting to +5 on Very High chances like with a max luck day? 90% * 90% * 90% * 90% * 90% = 59% total chance
Getting through just 2 of those High chance grinds? 70% * 70% = 49%

LOL.. That may be true for some.. XD jkin.. As for me.. my heart drops when a weapon breaks.. XD Well I have approached "a" method.. but this required the use of higher grinders in order to make this theory of mine work.. if it does.. XD For now I got most of my weapons around 3-4 grind.. never went to 5 because I had the thought of not having the grinder to successfully make it there..

Thanks for the help everyone. :3 I hope I can get a few good grinders out of this and get a couple staves to at least +4, hopefully +5. I don't know that I'd go beyond that.
