You need to change universes at the orange box thing that is located in many places. You probably aren't on a very populated universe.

This is the sentiment of many who still play PSU 360. H3 may drop the amount of people on at one time, but I feel there will still be a significant amount of people still playing. H3 is more a diversion for most PSU players.

The PSU population has survived greater diversions than Halo 3. Those people aren't going anywhere.

As far as 360 as a console is concerned, there really aren't any diversions greater than Halo 3...

Same with the PSU population on PC/PS2. We cant be stopped!

Well, I do predict a large drop in the number of annoying kids once Halo 3 comes out. Twelve-year-olds love that series.

True, but most fans of online FPS games have been playing Gears and will continue to do so until the release of H3. The people currently playing PSU will more than likely continue playing PSU, albeit at a reduced rate due to splitting time. I have purchased Bioshock and have been splitting my time between it and PSU, but once I beat Bioshock, I will return to PSU. Same with Halo 3. I'll play the 4 player online co-op with friends. I'll play some online....until I get a good dose of some of the more pathetic players in those communities, then I will stop. I played a lot of H2, but with PSU here and AoI on the horizon, I really don't see the need to spend a lot of time online with H3 listening to 15 year olds cuss out everyone in the lobby, etc. I also think I will be spending some time with Mass Effect as well, but again, this will be shared time with PSU.

....When halo 3 comes out...The most we would probably lose is the people that fill the 2-3 stars in Universe 3. Thats it. Uni 1 and 2 will still be full.

JAFO22000
Aug 27, 2007, 10:50 AM
Uhhh, I could see uni 1 going down to 4-3 stars and uni 2 going down to 3-2 stars, but the population will rise again when AoI is released (360 AND PC/PS2!). Or when the release our version of Famitsu.

I have no idea why people think Halo 3 will impact us. Neither GoW nor Madden had any noticeable impact on the population, and neither will Halo 3. School is what will have an impact, as it already is (my ingame inbox is full of "I won't play as much coz of school" notices).

We'll never drop below the 2000 mark at peak times, mark me words!

Also, the 360 might seem unpopulated at some hours, with only about 3 or 4 stars in Uni 01 and none elsewhere. That's still more people than in PC/PS2!

Are you referring to right now? Halo 2 took a rather large hit (unlike PSU... for obvious demographic reasons) when Gears of War hit, and, of course, since the game is as old as it is the population has been declining. I expect everyone who did play and then some to be back for the third installment, I think, especially with that record number of pre-orders.

You're probably right on the money about the week thing, though. Once Ambition of the Illuminus hits a few months later I expect a bit more to join us as well.

Oh, no, I'm saying that if people pay to play this game, they're not gonna go and play something else that fanatically, especially if it's a different type of game entirely.

I've not really noticed the halo 2 population change, I'd imagine the Halo 3 population will be about the same.

Hell, it might even get us more players, if the people that currently play halo 2 on the Xbox are forced to upgrade to 360.

Win win situation in my opinion.

The people that want to play something else go play halo for a bit, the dedicated stay.

I love the GoW didn't have an effect reasoning, Gears of War came out on 11/7/06 PSU was released 10/25/06, so there probably wasn't a significant hit in the 360 population because those people that bought GoW never bought PSU and the PSU population was just becoming established.

Again with madden, its a completely different type of genre of videogame, in which I'm doubting the majority of PSU players are into which is probably why there isn't much of a dropoff there either.

I think Halo 3 will probably hit PSU players a somewhat at least the fringe PSU players who have been waiting for Halo 3, 20 seconds after Halo 2 was released. The core base of players on PSU will always be sticking with PSU but, I definetely expect Halo 2 and GoW to see some of their players leave for Halo 3.

There are something like 1 million +preorders for Halo 3, with some sites throwing up ludicrous 4 million estimates. According to majornelson.com there were 820,000 UNIQUE participants with 12 million hours of gameplay for a beta. If Halo 3 can command that many people to buy a game just to play a beta for a few weeks I wonder what its going to do when the actual game is released.

yeah I keep hearing about it an I saw pics, but PSU will not lose me till Bethesda makes an MMORPG.

2 worlds does not Impress. Psu has the flair I like

And since no oneelse has said it

Recently the 360 populus has risen to 14* on weekdays, including universe 16/15

Why more people can't understand that is beyond me. People seem to want our population to drop.

Like previously stated, Gears didn't hurt us, Madden didn't touch us, and as far as I know the Halo3 Beta didn't hurt us. Neither has BioShock.

Everyone who played Halo2 and left didn't jump on PSU. They left Halo2 for Gears of War. Everyone who's leaving Gears is going to Halo3. Some PSU players may have left to jumped to Two Worlds, but from what I understand not many people like it. And that hasn't impacted our population. We'll dip the week Halo3 launches and then it'll come back.

Significatively:

Significantly:

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/significantly

The word exists, I at least spelled it correctly, and if the guy meant "significatively", I don't see why I should change it to "significantly". If you're going to be a Grammar/Spelling Nazi, please be a good one; I myself am a Grammar/Spelling Republican, meaning I'll abuse both to suit my purposes, and to Hell with the Constituion, I mean, with the rules for proper English.

I think the only game on the near horizon that could possibly hurt PSU's population would be Age of Conan.

I for one, know that unless the AoC PC Version and/or 360 Beta absolutely sucks in the worst fashion, I'll likely be outta hear come 2008 when AoC launches for 360.
