View Full Version : JP World merger pushed back until further notice.

Since it seems no one else has brought this up, I will.

Read it and weep, folks. (http://phantasystaruniverse.jp/news/wis/?mode=view&id=423)

This week on PSUJP, we were expected to get a new event commemorating the first anniversary of the game's release in addition to the planned merging of the two worlds. Apparently the ran into a snag that has prompted them to delay the release of the event, and on top of that, AoI. So in apology, they're giving us some sort of special wallpaper.

EDIT: Changed the title to reflect the situation. Are you happy now?

I'm sure this wont affect the unoffical release date for the US/EU version, yet. As of now, I'm still going by the Nov. 20 release, though I'm sure it will change.

Zael
Aug 30, 2007, 08:23 AM
Well, it's delayed until further notice, which means we're not sure of the JP's final release date. If it gets too close to November 20, the US/EU version could suffer a delay too :/

Wow this sucks but maybe this is the reason why we didn't get the cup event as well? Their one programmer too busy with AOI.

There's nothing better than pure speculation when trying to get a rise out of the NA PSU community, huh? Our schedule is semi-independent of theirs for better or worse. And it's not like I have many people left on my friends list who are still around to quit over something like this.

SonicTeam says that they believe merging the two Worlds together right now would possibly interfere with the 1st Anniversary Thanks Festa that's going on. They'd rather let people enjoy the festivities without a hitch than do something that might screw things up. (Can't say I blame them.) So, we'll (well, JP server players) probably see Worlds 1 and 2 merge together right around the release of AotI at the end of September.

This isn't surprising in the least. Sonic Team still has a long way to go until they can have a product that is favorable to people on a larger scale. Problem is, they've been working at it for years, so either they need a management overhaul or they just don't care.

This really isn't a big deal, but it just shows that they still can't set things straight on a regular basis.

Say if the game was delayed. Which it by the looks of things wasn't. Games are usually delayed for the better. And Games are ALWAYS delayed. I've seen it happen a lot when I was working at game store.

There was small exceptions where some games were delayed for the worse. (*cough* Next-gen Sonic the Hedgehog *cough*)

But yeah. If it's gets delayed.(which by george it hasn't!) /wrist, listen to Linkin Park, etc.....

Still gonna bank on this fall for us. Hopefully. Optimism FTW! >.>

Good point. Guess the actual missions won't show up until next week, then they'd follow up with the art contest winners the update after. No matter, we'll find out tomorrow, as they say the Thanks Festa site will be updated with mission info then.

Also unlike in america, PSU is decently popular in japan and the servers get pretty quick action if something goes wrong as well as explanations... thus this doesn't effect PSU, for the most part.

Armored core is From software actualy, Total war is another dev too, with Sega publishing, I believe.
Sega is still doing alot of odd stuff though, like Virtual Fighter, Afterburner, Sega Rally, and other Odd stuff. They seem to be doing alot of Publishing though. Also they own the chain of Gameworks Restraunts/Arcades

Shining Force Neo and Exa. Check them out, I'm sure they won't disappoint.

Sonic Team is a different division from Sega themselves though. (Correct me if I'm wrong on this)

Wallin
Aug 30, 2007, 09:37 PM
Actually I've found the Shining series recently to be a huge disappointment. They really should've stayed with the original/Fire Emblem aspect of strategy battles.

I didn't realize before that the server merge was going to take place before AoI was implemented, I had thought that it would happen with the expansion's release... more pointless dwelling, but doesn't this probably mean that we won't get extra character slots on the U.S. server since the two things are totally unrelated?

Sinue_v2
Aug 30, 2007, 10:51 PM
Total war is another dev too, with Sega publishing, I believe.

I believe the company name is Creative Assembly, and Sega bought them out - so they are either an in-house Sega division, or at least a second party, I think.

As far as other games, it's no surprise that many people think that Sonic Team (Sega Team, as is often mistaken) since they are probably the most active and the most popular development team at Sega since the Dreamcast tanked. Which is a real shame since they've been putting out lower-quality or un-inspired products lately which reflects poorly on Sega as a whole. AM2 is still the gold-standard of Sega quality IMO, and I'm eagerly awaiting news on what Yuji Naka is doing at his new development studio (which is also Sega 2nd Party).

I'd also LOVE to know what the hell WoWWorks has Rieko and Tohru working on. I haven't heard anything from those two in a while, and it'd be a shame if they were some neglected peons after the Sega classics they've created like Phantasy Star IV and Skies of Arcadia.

http://phantasystaruniverse.jp/event/1st/mission.html

New VR missions based on Guardian data of the last year, to be used as a simulator for training new guardians. Please help us test for final adjustments.

Yeah who really cares about the storyline reasoning behind it.

The important stuff.

-250% Item drop rate increase
-200% ~ 350% Xp increase, with it getting higher as you get further.
-Rare monster appearance increase, Jaggo Acte for this.
-2 Boss fights, 2 Boss Box sets. Adahna Degahna is shown in the SS, whether you fight him 2x in a row, or him then another is unknown.

Starts early Sept, another mission added mid Sept.

Rest of the site is various census data on the trends of the JP playerbase, most popular mission/race and so on.
