So, I just started.. and i heard that you can get married in game. Is that correct? and if so, does anyone know the details such as cost and all that good stuff??

Yes you can get married. But you will be ridiculed for it.

Sep 3, 2007, 09:21 PM
You can, but you'll have to call in a specialist (http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=140063&forum=12&start=95&190#130).

Isabeau

So, why would i be ridiculed for it? whats the deal?

DikkyRay
Sep 3, 2007, 09:26 PM
Because you would be getting married to someone in-game. You never met this person IRL yet you are making a commited relationship with them.
Seriously, it screams "I need a girlfriend!"

well 1. i'm a girl... 2. my boyfriend plays.. so i'm dating him IRL

It's common among MMORPGs, really ... In Ragnarok Online I commonly heard of weddings that were disrupted by griefers (until, at least, Gravity put in an actual marriage system).

I've heard of similar things in World of Warcraft and other MMOs, especially when they don't have an actual marriage system, of which PSU is one.

People that'd ridicule you for marrying in-game would be doing so for "going too far into the game." If you do it for roleplaying, those same people would laugh at you for trying to put the RP in MMORPG (which they would do to roleplayers for any reason).

So ... yeah. It's up to you; PSU doesn't have an actual marriage system as I said; there's been "holidays" that celebrate romance and marriage and some decor themed for both, but that's about it.

If you plan on faking a wedding I'd recommend waiting until we get Formal Wear.

Sep 3, 2007, 09:34 PM
ok thank you! yeah thats what i really needed to know.. because yeah in WoW and other mmo's the marriage system is a bit stupid or nonexistant. but if you've every played ffxi its really cool how they have an actual marriage system and its just fun. but i guess PSU's system is nothing like that. Thank you!

This is why people don't get married in video games...

Some people don't approve of those who "get married" in an RPG for the same reason other people don't approve of others playing a chara of the opposite sex: immature insecurity. If there are people like that running around, something might rub off on them!

Well from my knowledge there is not an actual marriage system where there is a ceremony and all that jazz, but yes you can. Also if your Bf also plays it would work out just fine.

Now for the quote i'll have to agree with D1ABOLIK because for those of you who don't know my Character is JOE from the Chronicles of the Black Hand in the fan works section. I play a female character for role playing purposes and the fact that i want to continue my character from pso. Same name, Ramarl class(female ranger) and i have gotten this kind of treatment but rarely because my characters name generally helps prevent these kind of situations plus on my partner card it says guy in irl.

Wow dude seriously some folks take the game WAAAAY to seriously I have a friend who plays only short female characters simply for the shock value.

His voice is deep enough to qualify as a barry white impersonator we have one of the yahoos looking for girls jump into our parties and when he see's whos talking an sounding like good ole mr white they either leave act VERY surprised and laugh it up with us or leave after screwing the mission over by dying.

The laughing guys are very few and far between but it makes dealing with the jerks all the worth it.

BTW congrats if your gettin hitched in the game

never forget folks play to enjoy if someone else doesnt like it thats their issue.

I would so totally go the the ceremony in full formal gear for the heck of it, and besides every wedding needs a witness for prof of marriage, right.

Marriages and relationships in a game can be fun, as long as both sides are realistic and only indulge in it as a form of bliss in the moment, not anything complicated like one day meeting and settling, which is possible but it also quite dumb to think of over the Internet. If you call, meet, then that's a starting point to think of a future, but it's only fun until then. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif Hm, I don't think you'll be ridiculed for getting married on PSU. I think it's silly to be too serious about it, but even so... Who cares? Do what you want. On the game's side, there is no official thing for marriages or anything, but you can always use your imagination?

And if you think THAT's expensive, wait til you see what the divorce will cost. And do you know WHY divorce is so expensive? Because it's WORTH IT!

Shliggles? In my PSYOU General http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif?

Umm well I don't really see anything wrong with marriage in a game as long as I'm invited http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif. If you want to avoid people trying to spam your wedding with "OMG LOLOLOLOLOL e-wedding?!" I'd advise you'd move to an unpopulated server. Though I bet you were going to do that anyway http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

i wonder if video game marriages last longer then real ones because statisticly speaking 50% of marriages end in divorce.

Hmmm..well, as stated from previous posters, there is no official wedding type system like there is in Ragnarok Online or other anything of the sort.

However, I'll say this..if you want to, I'd say go for it. If you guys think it would be a good idea, ask your friends to come along, get a priest, and someone to hold the ring, etc.

Who knows..a few months later, you can invite your friends back into your room for a baby shower, then have them give you all these presents, then a couple of weeks after that, one of your friends can create a short kid to be your baby, lol.

I mean, it can be pretty interesting if you put some thought into it. Also, it can add a little twist to the game to make it another reason why you enjoy it. So, as a few other posters have already stated as well..I will concur and say also:

If you want to do it and a couple of people laugh at you or whatever..who cares? That's their problem, not yours. We play games to have fun and as long as you are enjoying yourself, that's the important thing http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Well, other than that..I know it's a little late, but welcome to PSU and I hope you enjoy your time here!

95% of in-game marriages end in canceled accounts. The remaining 5% actually end up married in real life, at which time they have a 50% divorce rate.

I would say .09% end up getting married casuse 2% of the population is girls, and if you are lucky one is u age and lives near you.......sooo bored
