The purpose of this thread is to help keep all of the information we gather on each chapter of The Phantom of Arkguard organized in one place as it's released. All discussion and translations should be posted here.

Also, be warned that the likelihood of spoilers is pretty high in this thread. Arkguard deals with the events between Episode 1 and Ambition of the Illuminus, so if you don't want to risk spoiling anything, don't read any further.

Immortal44 has put my translations into the actual comic to make things easier to understand (since I don't put action marks in the script). Besides, the artwork is awesome and shouldn't be missed. These can be viewed here: http://psucomic.synbios.net/
Special thanks to Parn for hosting the files.

Our story takes place in a far-away location...

The Gurhal system, where four races live among three planets, was invaded and attacked by a mysterious life form known as the SEED.

Through the involvement of the planetary defense organization, the GUARDIANS, the SEED threat was believed to have passed...

However, a new road to downfall is being trodden.

Phantasy Star Universe: Phantom of Arkguard

One month after the assault on the HIVE, Parum has fallen victim to numerous terrorist bombings. Parum's police force, requesting the assistance of the GUARDIANS, began an investigation in the criminal activities of an anti-CAST organization.

Ethan Waber, along with Leogini Santosa Berafort, head to Parum's Holtes City.

CHAPTER 1
Beat of Evil

LEO: This is Leo.

LEO: The target is headed that way.

ETHAN: Understood.

ETHAN: Target confirmed. I'm in pursuit!

ETHAN: He's taking the back way!

ETHAN: Just where does he think he's going...?

ETHAN: He's entering the building.

ETHAN: I'm going to arrest him.

LEO: No, wait!

ETHAN: Why?

LEO: You're being too hasty!

LEO: Wait until I get there.

ETHAN: Gah!

LEO: At the most recent bombing site...

LEO: ...it's possible that there were multiple terrorists...

LEO: ...so it would be wise to use caution.

ETHAN: ...

ETHAN: Understood!

ETHAN: Who would've thought we'd be going after terrorists after taking out the SEED?

LEO: And from that comes frequent racial disputes.

LEO: Our enemies aren't just from outside, they're on the inside, too.

ETHAN: The Parum police don't seem to be helping much...

LEO: This isn't the only problem they have to deal with, ya know?

ETHAN: Alright, I'm taking him down!

LEO: Hey, hey! Don't rush in there by yourself!

ETHAN: Alright, I heard you!

ETHAN: There he is!

LEO: What's the situation?

ETHAN: He seems to be setting a bomb...

ETHAN: Jump him?

LEO: He vanished!!
ETHAN: He's gone!!

ETHAN: Leo!

???: Time to die...

ETHAN: How did he hit me...?

???: HAAAAAA!

ETHAN: Leo, you OK?

LEO: Yeah... just a scratch.

???: HAAAAAAA!

LEO: Ethan!

ETHAN: The bomb! Hurry!

LEO: Oh, yeah!

LEO: Let's see... Bomb, bomb...

LEO: There it is!!

LEO: Now's not the time to be nervous...

ETHAN: Guh!

LEO: Oh, man... which one is it?

ETHAN: Leo! If you don't hurry, it's gonna explode!

LEO: Gotta hurry...

LEO: This one!

LEO: Phew...

LEO: I did it, Ethan!!

ETHAN: Must've pulled the detonator. Good work!

ETHAN: Are you the only one here?

???: Ha ha ha ha ha...

LEO: Why are you laughing...?

???: You lose...

???: Your end is near...

ETHAN: You...

ETHAN: What did you say...?

???: This goes deeper than you think...

???: The civilization of Gurhal will soon crumble!!

ETHAN: Civilization... crumble?

LEO: Ethan! Look out!!

LEO: Suicide bomber...

LEO: Didn't leave a trace of evidence...

ETHAN: ...

Chapter 2: Mysterious Message

DALLGUN: So...

DALLGUN: There were no clues left behind...

ETHAN: Correct, sir. However, something concerns me.

DALLGUN: What's that?

ETHAN: The terrorist said that...

ETHAN: the civilization of Gurhal will soon crumble.

DALLGUN: ...

NAV: They... can't be serious.

DALLGUN: Hmm...

ETHAN: Do you have any idea what he was talking about?

DALLGUN: Yes...

DALLGUN: There is a story that I must tell you.

DALLGUN: The SEED aren't our only enemy.

LEO: Wh... who else is there?
ETHAN: Eh!?

DALLGUN: When we analyzed the recent terrorist incidents,

DALLGUN: their methods and organization resembled a certain group.

DALLGUN: Their name is...

DALLGUN: The Illuminus!

DALLGUN: They are a secret organization of human supremacists

DALLGUN: that formed over 600 years ago.

DALLGUN: Following the 500 year war, they went into hiding.

LEO: I thought... the Illuminus were destroyed.

ETHAN: You know about them?

LEO: Yeah... a little.

DALLGUN: They feigned destruction so they could stay hidden.

DALLGUN: In fact, they were even manipulating the Endrum Collective.

DALLGUN: Just like the Illuminus...

LEO: What do you mean?

ETHAN: If that's the case...
ETHAN: ...then Magashi was a part of the Illuminus?

DALLGUN: To them, CASTs and beasts

DALLGUN: were seen as nothing more than slaves for humans.

DALLGUN: They viewed CASTs solely as cheap labor.

LEO: Damn bastards...

ETHAN: So, where are they hiding now?

DALLGUN: We aren't sure at the moment.

DALLGUN: However, an investigation is currently underway.

DALLGUN: I ask that you help us continue our search.

LEO: Yes, sir!
ETHAN: Yes, sir!

REPORTER: Another explosion shook Holtes City today.

REPORTER: With the assistance of the GUARDIANS, the Parum police have arrested

REPORTER: a suspect in the terrorist bombings.

REPORTER: The offender is 32-year-old Macda Millian.

REPORTER: An interrogation is pending

REPORTER: as the investigation of his involvement in this incident continues.

LEO: What were you trying to do?

MACDA: ...

LEO: Say something!
LEO: Come on, talk!

MACDA: ...

ETHAN: Wow... he still hasn't said a word.

TONNIO: Maybe he has nothing to confess.

TONNIO: Oh... is he giving up?

TONNIO: What's wrong, Leo? Want me to give it a shot?

LEO: He...

LEO: ...said he wants to speak with Ethan.

TONNIO: Eh!?

ETHAN: To me?

MACDA: You're Ethan Waber, right?

ETHAN: Why did you want to speak to me?

MACDA: Because you're my friend.

ETHAN: What?

MACDA: You're human, so you'll understand.
MACDA: This world is ours to control!

ETHAN: What, with people like you!?

MACDA: Your father, Olson, is also a friend of mine.

ETHAN: Liar!

MACDA: No, honest...
MACDA: Go to Bistonia, then you'll understand...

MACDA: Ugh!

MACDA: Gaaah!

TONNIO: What the!?
LEO: What's going on!?

MACDA: Gaaah!

ETHAN: Hey! Calm down!

LEO: What happened?

ETHAN: Hurry, he's in pain!

TONNIO: Someone call a medic!

LOU: His heart and lungs have already ceased functioning.

TONNIO: Ethan! What did you do?
ETHAN: ......

Moatoob

Dagora City

LOU: Ethan!
ETHAN: !?

LOU: Where are you going?

ETHAN: Back off, Lou! None of your business!

LOU: You may be walking into the enemy's trap.

ETHAN: I know, but...
ETHAN: I've got to find something about that terrorist group.

LOU: And about your father?

ETHAN: Wha-!? How did you know!?

LOU: I was able to read your lips from the other side of the glass.

ETHAN: Guess there's nothing you can keep from Lou...

LOU: An autopsy was performed on the terrorist's body

LOU: yielding very interesting results.

ETHAN: Really?

LOU: Allow me to accompany you and I will explain further.

ETHAN: Eh!?

LOU: Inside the terrorist's body
LOU: we discovered many nanomachines.

ETHAN: What!?
ETHAN: Do you think the Endrum Collective might be involved, then?

LOU: I am certain...
LOU: ...that another organization must be manipulating the Endrum Collective.

ETHAN: The Illuminus!
LOU: Correct.

ETHAN: Do you know where Bistonia is?

LOU: Yes.

LOU: Bistonia is located in the abandoned mine just ahead.

ETHAN: Wonder why they chose this place for a hideout?

ETHAN: There's smoke coming out... Are you sure this place is abandoned?

LOU: It is unusual. This mine was supposed to have been abandoned 100 years ago.

ETHAN: Huh?

MAN #1: Hands up!

MAN #2: Who are you?

ETHAN: I'm Ethan Waber of the GUARDIANS.

MAN #3: What are the GUARDIANS doing here!?

ETHAN: I want to see your boss.

MAN #2: Not a chance, bub!

ETHAN: Gah!

???: Well, look at what we have here.

ETHAN: That voice...

ETHAN: Ma... Magashi...!?

???: Welcome to the Illuminus...

???: ...Ethan Waber.

I think it is begun before.. but continues in parallel to the online storymode. At least for the early episodes of the online storymode. But it's only a supposition, based on nothing.

Ethan's still with the GUardians in the comic, and wearing his "goody-too-shoes" white suit. His father has just been mentioned. By the time you start online story mode, he's no longer with the Guardians, is a wanted criminal, and wears black. The comic is a prequel.

WOOOO!! What's the problem with "begun before... but continues in parallel". This one is only the second chapter. Lets the other episodes come out. For me we'll see Ethan in his new black suite.

I finished the comic flash translation. I just need to get Parn to put up the new version but first I have one question. What is that music that plays when they are on moatoob? is it new? never heard it before.

EspioKaos

It's a slowed down version of the intro to the orchestral Moatoob theme. (On the OST, it's simply called "Moatoob.")

Sweet! Odd that it's back to its normal tempo in the base file, though.

Anyway, think you could do that with the comic preview (http://illuminus.phantasystaruniverse.jp/comic/preview.html)? I tried a few guesses using the format above, but I haven't been able to come up with the right address for the BGM used in it.

Are you importing the flv into flash and then translating it? That sounds awesome. should be able to make a prefect english version that way. (with all of the animations and everything) well done! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

in the mean time here is the link to my new version. It contains both chapter 1 and 2. Hope it works. Im trying a different host this time so if there are any problems let me know.

Hrm... You might want to consider keeping each chapter split apart from the whole. It took me a couple of minutes to load just those two, so I can imagine how long it'll take to load all six once everything has been released. (Of course, part of the problem is likely the new host.)

Also, be careful taking liberties the translation. There have been a few sections where the wording seemed off and out of place. I went back to make sure I hadn't written anything that seemed too awkward to realize that I hadn't. Consistent proper capitalization and punctuation are also good things to keep in mind. I know to some this is nitpicky, but I personally strive for professional-quality material.

Yeah, I wasnt expecting the file size to increase as much as it did from last time. The size more than tripled. (not sure why!?!) Next time I will try to stay closer to your translation. I was kinda rushed and in one or two spots merged two bubbles cause it was hard to read for me when they were split up. Ill split it up and fix the translation, I also want to add a bit more time in certain spots where the bubbles move a bit to fast to read. I will release it once the next chapter comes out. (but keep in mind that university has started and Im really busy with homework http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif )

Chapter 3 (http://illuminus.phantasystaruniverse.jp/comic/chapter_03.html) was released today. Very interesting stuff in there. (Carl Freidrihi) Hauzer takes Ethan down to see the big man behind the Illuminus, Lantz. (His first name escapes me. But, I think it was something like Donolph.) Anyway, turns out that Olson was an Illuminus spy who is now being held captive. Ethan is blackmailed into assassinating Dallgun if he wants to save his father. There's lots more, but I've got to get ready for work. I'll have a full translation later.

I think you're right. I looked into the Japanese spelling of the name and came up with a number of articles citing "Friedrich" as the English spelling. As far as his first name, I saw it as both "Carl" and "Karl." I like it with a K better, so I'll stick with that.

ETHAN: That's so cruel...

HOWZER: It's not your place to judge.

HOWZER: Even the government pretends not to see it when given enough money.

HOWZER: To us, their enslavement

HOWZER: is only appropriate to their social status.

ETHAN: How could they just let you do this!?

HOWZER: Heh heh heh... Does that make you angry?

HOWZER: Oh, how the righteous have gone astray.

HOWZER: I think that the GUARDIANS will do the same.

HOWZER: They can't change the world with ideals alone.

ETHAN: Do you really think you can get away with this by yourself?

HOWZER: I have more to show you, Ethan.

HOWZER: Things such as racial equality are no more than a fantasy.

HOWZER: The world is not equal, not honest.

HOWZER: It is only filled with deception.

HOWZER: This is a simple fact that we have no control over.

ETHAN: No, you're wrong!!

HOWZER: What's right and what's wrong change depending on the situation.

HOWZER: So don't preach your righteousness to me.

ETHAN: ......

HOWZER: Is His Excellency ready?

ATTENDANT: You are welcome to enter His office.

HOWZER: Your Excellency.

HOWZER: I have brought Ethan Waber with me.

LANTZ: ...Olson's son?

HOWZER: Yes, Your Excellency.

ETHAN: Why... do you know my father's name...?

LANTZ: I am Rudolph Lantz.

LANTZ: Commander of the Supreme Original Race Liberation Army; a representative of the Illuminus.

LANTZ: Please make no mistake...

LANTZ: We are fighting for the restoration of human rights.

LANTZ: Long ago...

LANTZ: humans migrated to the Gurhal System.

LANTZ: While living among the three planets, humans created their own unique culture.

LANTZ: Beasts were originally slaves to the humans.

LANTZ: The race was created through genetic alteration

LANTZ: allowing them to withstand the harsh environment of Moatoob.

LANTZ: Newmans were born from the dominant human race.

LANTZ: CASTs evolved from basic machinery.

LANTZ: They all have their roots in humans.

LANTZ: However, for a long time each race opposed the other.

LANTZ: Eventually, war broke out.

LANTZ: The war stretched out over 500 years.

LANTZ: People began to desire control by CASTs

LANTZ: who would not be influenced by emotions.

ETHAN: You can stop the history lesson.

LANTZ: Hmph... This is real history, not what you were taught in school.

LANTZ: The true intent of rule by CASTs

LANTZ: was to take humans down as the dominant class.

LANTZ: Newmans, beasts and CASTs

LANTZ: only want to take the rights and property humans have

LANTZ: and redistribute it in the name of equality.

ETHAN: And isn't that the reason we're at peace now?

LANTZ: So, the meaning of peace is having your pride and respect stolen from you?

LANTZ: Exactly what has CAST rule brought us?

LANTZ: Corruption, brought on by humiliating discrimination and greed.

LANTZ: We must take back

LANTZ: our pride and rights for all humans.

LANTZ: We must destroy the framework of their control

LANTZ: and recreate it under a new system.

ETHAN: A new system?

LANTZ: Yes... We are currently in a state of chaos.

LANTZ: Unified by new ideals

LANTZ: we will create a new world for humans.

LANTZ: Will you cooperate with us?

ETHAN: I'm not helping people like you!

ETHAN: I just saw how you made a bunch of beasts into your slaves!

ETHAN: Everyone except humans are slaves to you.

ETHAN: That's all you want; complete control!

ETHAN: All you're doing is moving back an era.

LANTZ: Heh heh heh...

LANTZ: Take a good look at this.

ETHAN: !

ETHAN: It can't be...

ETHAN: ...dad?

LANTZ: Yes, that is Olson Waber.

LANTZ: Your father is being held captive in an isolation cell.

ETHAN: My dad...

ETHAN: I thought he was dead!

HOWZER: Your father did not die.

HOWZER: President Dallgun lied to you about that.

ETHAN: No way...

ETHAN: The president...?

LANTZ: Let me tell you the truth.

LANTZ: You're father...

LANTZ: is a former member of the Illuminus.

ETHAN: What!?

LANTZ: Olson joined the GUARDIANS as a spy.

LANTZ: He was very skilled.

LANTZ: He took down many well-trained Guardians one after another.

LANTZ: As a reward, I promoted him to the position of...

LANTZ: Arkguard.

LANTZ: It means "Bringer of Death."

ETHAN: ...my dad was a spy?

LANTZ: And a skilled killer...

LANTZ: However, Dallgun convinced him

LANTZ: to betray us, so he was imprisoned for his actions.

LANTZ: If you want to help your father...

LANTZ: You will do as we say.

ETHAN: ...tell me what you want.

LANTZ: You will assassinate President Dallgun.

Next time: Presidential Assassination

---

So, papa Waber was the Illuminus' Arkguard, basically what Kireek was to Black Paper. (Good to finally know what "Arkguard" means.) Also, Lantz says that humans migrated to Gurhal. ... News to me; from the time line I'm translating, it says that humans were left behind by the Ancients. Hrm, I'll have to check into that.

"Arkguard" means "Bringer of Death"? How does that work? If anything, it should be the opposite.

And, interesting information. Humans didn't originate in Gurhal. No wonder the Relics are such a mystery. Seems like the story writers were focusing on these things, and just gave us filler information. There has been more story in these than there has been in all of story mode.

I wonder if there'll be a mission in ep 2 or 3 where you fight enslaved nanoblasted beasts at the illuminus hideout. Boy wouldn't that be something.

The timeline from the magazine is what Ethan learned in school. Sonicteam released that to us because they wanted us to only know what the citizens of Gurhal have grown up learning in school. So it can be more of a surprise when we uncover the truth in the story missions.

I still believe that Pioneer 3 settled in Gurhal. And the OPSS incident from PSO episode 3 triggered the 500 year war. I'm happy to see that the story is starting to point that way.

Wow. Awesome translations, the moving comic's story is facinating.
Those human supremacist Illuminas are virtually racist, and are greedy b*stards t (they sure do remind me of a certain Real Life neo political group of con men.. <_< )

I like how there *may* be a link to the PSO universe.

When the comic showed Olsen with a scruffy beard and long hair I thought "It's Jordan Coulier!" due that character's visual resemblance to Jordan in "The 4400" t.v. series. ~sorry huge fan of "The 4400" lol.

I believe I read somewhere that the Ancient Civilization was made up of humans themselves, its cataclysmic fall resulting in a regression/dark age. I thought it was the timeline but... actually, it might have been in the vision phone glossary online.

Immortal, if you don't mind me saying so, I also think it would be a far better idea to split up the videos. As mentioned, the size and length is going to get pretty unnecessary (especially when you can't navigate easily in them). As for the host, I think you should send them Parn's way again. I don't think he really minds putting them up and there are a few advantages. Not only is there a 'dedicated' site for them but it's also ad-less.

Aside from those two things, I think you're doing a great job on them! I'm looking forward to the next one.

Glossary! It speaks of 20 thousand years before. It says also that Parum is a nearly completely artificial planet. At this point, nothing can be excluded. Also that Parum is Palm rebuilt (although is highly improbable).

Do you actually believe the illum crazies?
It's a common tactic to say horrible unprovable things about a loved one to shake a victims' confidence and put them off balance so they're willing to become your pawn.

Illuminus is a smart cookie for sure, not allowing in the wep (lou) and taking him deep into their base of doom, far from rescure or escape just to 'talk'. There's no question he's pretty helpless in there.

Ethan has no proof he's alive at all. That glowing ball could be 5 years old--yet he never questions it because of the bombs just dropped. He's too busy agitating that Dallgun could of lied or his dad was a serial killer.

What if it was the other way around? He was a GUARDIAN spy in the illum, knocked off a bunch of illuminus dudes, and then got captured. It wouldn't be nearly as devastating to Ethan, but it would explain why Dallgun would think/assume Olson is dead---because he was captured.

*Also remember that Dallgun and Olson were best pals for years, right up until Olson vanished. It is already 5x harder to believe that Dallgun couldn't catch on his best bud was an assassin.

It would only be too easy for the head honcho here to twist the story to further manipulate Ethan. My main curiosity is how he gets out of Assassinating the prez.

Perhaps both humans in Gurhal and Algo came from Earthling civilization that went into civil war due to Dark Falz manipulations and killed each other off.

Anyway, I find it interesting that Eathan doesn't that close reasemble his father (at least to me.)
Perhaps Illuminus gentically "grown" him as replacement for Olson from his DNA.

Also I wonder about Ethan's mother. Was she also in Illuminus?

Sinue_v2

Er, Ethan did try to assassinate the President. That's why he's a wanted man in Ep II. Although he failed (likely purposely), which is why Ethan tells Laia that he's not sure whether or not his father is still alive.

As for Algol being a colony of Earthlings, or them descended from the same source, that's not the case. Le Roof tells the party quite clearly that the Great Light created the Algol Solar System as a seal to contain the Profound Darkness after their war. So it's not like PSU where the planets were already in place and a seal was created... he actually formed the Solar System. He also placed protectors on each of the planets - three tribes, the Motavians, Dezolians, and Parmans (humans). A fourth planet, was also created to warn of the time of the seal's weakening once every 1,000 years, onto which he placed the Guardians Le Roof, De-Vars, Sa-Lews, etc. Since Dark Falz is only a manifestation of the Profound Darkness's anger and hatred, Parman humans actually pre-date the creation of Dark Falz. This is compounded by the fact that if you go by the Japanese translation - the Profound Darkness and Great Light weren't so much "gods" as they were a race of spiritual beings that waged a civil war. Over the millions of years of imprisonment, the losing side became evil as it's bitterness, resentment, and lust for revenge seethed and boiled, eventually congealed into a singular consciousness.

If anything, Gurhalian humans are likely descended from those who came from either Coral or Ragol, if you're going to make the claim that PSO and PSU are connected. It does seem to be the way things are going, after all, what with Ragol being in AoI and the SEED's extreme resemblance to the D-Factor and GERM.

As for Earth humans, it's possible that they themselves were a split from Algol - since Algolian humans far predate Earth humans. Although you do raise a good point in that we have now... what... four different races of human. Algolian, Gurhalian, Coralian, Earthling. There may be a connection between them.

1. What are D-factor and Germ? im guessing Dark monsters in PSO?

2. Why are the Nei weapons called Nei? Lutz says Nei means power, so if the name pre dates her birth why did the loopy palman scientists use that name? I dont think there is an official answer to this question but I thought id ask.

3. What are the connections between Flowen and Rico?

4. What exactly is a Mag?

5. What are those PB creatures; Pilla, Golla, Leilla etc?

Nei Project was created by Mother Brain as a sort of Bio-wepon: Genetically created soliders that would fight for Earthlings- perhaps out of some unexplained plot device, or rather our tendency to make bad things more omnious and sinister than they actually are it was named Nei.

As for humans (my previous post +) Indeed, the humans may be remnants of each of those "spirtual beigns" that waged civil war (Holy Light and Profound Darkness). Because of such huge genocide they could somehow go technologically backwards, thought they have some misty idea about that struggle. Hence we have multiple human races (as Sinue mentioned: Algolians, Gurhalians,Coralian and Earthlings) that while identical in looks ect., have several hard to notice (at lest to me) characteristics and traits that separate them.

argh i had a link with a translated version of the Nei 1st and 2nd scene in the remake where 1st explains a lot, but the sites been taken down.

Basically from what i remember, Nei 1st says the reason for the project was the same as Rika creation a race to live alongside and help the Palmans prosper. For some reason, the scientists deemed the project a failure and tried to murder Nei 1st she in turn slaughtered them and then allowed the bio systems lab to go crazy releasing all those bio monsters to cause misery and pain on the Palmans that Nei 1st now despised. If they were planned soldiers i dont see why they would have terminated Nei 1st as she is cleary a killing machine.

It still doesnt explain why the scientists or mother brain used an esper word for the project.

Maybe Nei First discovered that the scientists wanted her to be a mage only race so she went on a bloody killing spree to reclaim her bio monster heritage.

Perhaps they thought that Nei first was too unstable (and had too big blood lust) to listen to their orders - You don't have much advantage from wepon that does not respond to commands. So they decided to eliminate her before her instablilty posed a threat. However they underestimated her - rest is history.

That's just mine theory, that matches some of the facts, thought it doesn't give all the answers.

Agreed, I wish wish wish i had saved the translation page. >__< Apparently the remakes offered a lot of new information that interestingly coincided with a lot of fanon.

The problem with Numans being bread as a killing race is that firstly Palma had a freakin mecha army by this point at its disposal and secondly all the palmans had gone soft with lack of war fare what with the absolute control Mother Brain exibited over Algo. (which was the plan all along)

The only enemy i can think of that warrants them making a killing Numan race would be the Espers that Mother Brain wished to eliminate. That would have been soooo awesome, an army of Numans/Bio Monster raiding the Esper Mansion.

The proof is there though, Nei 1st and 2nd were both natural born killers. You know the more i think of how awesome some of the concepts the original phant series portrayed the more i feel PSU has gone in the wrong direction. Hopefully it is building into something cool what with this latest comic release finally adding some decent plot to everything.

1. What are D-factor and Germ? im guessing Dark monsters in PSO?

As far as I've heard, D-Factor is a sort of infection that has highly mutagenic and behavioral modifying properties. I'm not highly familiar with Ep III's storyline as I hate cardgames and haven't played it through more than once on each story arc. But from what I recall it's a variant of the D-Factor or an evolution of it. It is also infectious, and deadly, but it doesn't have the mutagenic properties of D-Cellular infections. However, it can "memorize" the shape and composition of materials it consumes and with even a small amount, can reform that item or creature. Though I'm sure someone will be able to help correct me on this.

2. Why are the Nei weapons called Nei? Lutz says Nei means power, so if the name pre dates her birth why did the loopy palman scientists use that name? I dont think there is an official answer to this question but I thought id ask.

You're right, in that I don't think there is an answer.

What are the connections between Flowen and Rico?

Heathcliff Flowen was Rico's mentor and instructor. When she had finished her training, it was Flowen that gave her the Red Ring and her red weapons. That's why the inscriptions on the weapons spell out his name. I've heard that they might have been romantically involved, but I'm not sure. I haven't come across anything like that.

What exactly is a Mag?

The MAGs were created by Dr. Montegue and Osto Hoyle to serve as a companion to Hunters. They evolve and can strengthen the Hunter because they incorperate D-Cellular technology.

What are those PB creatures; Pilla, Golla, Leilla etc

That I don't know either. I would assume that they are a manifestation of Photonic power, considering how strongly photons react to D-Cellular activity.

I think someone really needs to do a thorough translation of some of the PSO art and info books, so for now, Espio would probably be the one to ask.

Indeed, the humans may be remnants of each of those "spirtual beigns" that waged civil war (Holy Light and Profound Darkness). Because of such huge genocide they could somehow go technologically backwards, thought they have some misty idea about that struggle.

Well, I've always considered beings like Le Roof to be the remnants of this race. And to a further extent, the photons themselves that are used throughout PSO and PSU are either remnants of the Great Light - or the Great Light itself.

have several hard to notice (at lest to me) characteristics and traits that separate them.

Hmm... I haven't really noticed to much of a difference in the temperaments and the traits of the races of humans. All of them have the capability for all of our best traits, and worst vices. Earthling humans were seen as greedy, malevolent, and evil - but then, what would you consider the humans who ran Coral into the ground with constant warring and pollution? Or perpetuated eons worth of bloody feudalism in the era before Aures campaign which unified all of Palma? And then, there's the human fundamentalists who wish to return Gurhal to human control and enslave the races again. Humans, as per the usual stereotype, have always represented the "neutral" - strongly polarized in no particular skill, attitude, or stereotype. And I think that's mostly a design issue, in that to differenciate different fantasy races, we tend to use ourselves as a base (since we're the only intelligent and sentient race we know) and then exaggerate our own traits. Rarely do you a see a game in which humans are seen as the most spiritual, the most intelligent, the strongest or most belligerent.

If they were planned soldiers i dont see why they would have terminated Nei 1st as she is cleary a killing machine.

But, Neifirst is also clearly uncontrollable and suffered from severe mental disorders. Her mind was fractured, and one of those fractures ended up being Neisecond.

The problem with Numans being bread as a killing race is that firstly Palma had a freakin mecha army by this point at its disposal and secondly all the palmans had gone soft with lack of war fare what with the absolute control Mother Brain exibited over Algo.

That's true, but Palma was also the epicenter of all human political and military power. Palmans put a lot of trust in Mother Brain, but she did not overtly control them. If she did.. then why have a government and military at all? Why not just let Mother Brain handle everything? I think a lot of the control Mother Brain exerted was granted to her, rather than taken from Palmans. After all, Palma was the planet that the Earthlings chose to destroy. She cut off the head, to watch the body die so to speak. Motavia was a farming planet, and Dezolis was a mining planet until a gas leak left it deserted by humans. Both were easy pickings in comparison to Palma.

The purpose of the Numans as soldiers is a concept that's conceived from the Phantasy Star Memorial Drama CD. I don't recall off-hand if the original PSII and it's materials explicitly list the Numan Project as bio-soldiers or just as a way to create a new race. However, GENE states that he took over the Numan project after the Great Collapse in an attempt to create a new race that could survive the harsh environments on Motavia and with the goal of destroying all human life because he viewed humans as an inferior species incapable of managing the planet. Thus, he cloned Nei and new model - NM-2011.

Although it is debatable whether this was the original goal of the Numan project, or just GENE's goal, I have to ask - if Mother Brain controlled the Biosystems, and she was controlled by Earthlings, why would they want to create a new human race while attempting to destroy the current races? And why with such accelerated growth and increased combat capabilities? Then again, that's perhaps also part of why the project was discarded.

Regardless, SEED reversed the goal of the Numan project from one of death back to one of giving life by creating Rika who was built as a bio-soldier, but was benevolent to humans and carried beneficial genes in her body that would be passed into the human population.

You know the more i think of how awesome some of the concepts the original phant series portrayed the more i feel PSU has gone in the wrong direction.

I think the problem is partly that the original series tended to draw it's inspiration from classic and new-age classic literature and sci-fi/fantasy concepts. It drew from sources like Star Wars, H.G. Wells, and H.P. Lovecraft. PSU seems, so far, to draw it's inspiration from generic anime concepts and the previous PS/PSO games... and many of those underlying inspirations of the original series aren't translating over well.

Regardless, I still believe it's far too early to judge PSU's storyline - because we've only gotten 1/3'd of it at best. Unlike PS who's storylines were largely independent of each other, or PSO's which were continual additions to a finished story - PSU's storyline is already formalized from start to finish. We just haven't been given all of it yet. It's a situation very similar to .//hack or Xenosaga.

After reading Lantz says that Humans came to Gurhal, I figured a pretty reasonable (but by no means am I claiming it is most likely true) That links PSU to the Classic PS storyline.
A world ship from Palma made it to the Gurhal system and they inhabited the planets, which they named in remembrance of their former home, ie. Something like New Palma, New Motavia, etc... And the names we currently have for the planets are just the evolution of those names over the years(New Deloiz becoming the compound Neudaiz), I mean after all each planet has its own alphabet so theoretically pronunciation could change.
Again, just something I thought of while bored in class.

Feh, the conversation is drifting into Off-Topic land.

I hadn't seen the last two translated episodes; now that I have, I like the effort you guys put into them, but I did notice some quibbles:

- On Episode 2, the word "interrogation" is misspelled on the newscast, or thereabouts.

- At the end of Episode 2 the next chapter is called Name of Death, but Episode 3 calls itself "Name of Evil" at the start. Was the original Japanese version like this?

- On Episode 3, during the talk with Lantz, "Your father was a member of the Illuminus" is written "You're father...".

Apart from those, everything looks great.

Nei 1st mind did not fracture until after she massacred the Scientists, which is what caused Nei 2nd's birth.

Possibly the Nei project was to breed with palmans and remove the palman blood line altogether.

There is tons of evidence that Mother Brain had absolute control of Algo. She banned space travel, eliminated the royal family, removed human colonies from Dezolis. She had complete control over the judicial system and was able to instantly judge Rolf and party guilty without trial, brand them terrorists and dispatch the palman Mecha army to hunt him down. I like your analogy of the destruction of Palma being the severing of the head of Algo, now it seems pretty obvious as Motavia and Dezolis were pretty much defenceless. Its debatable if the Earthlings where even fully in control at all or if they were merely doing Falz's will as the planet's destruction was to permanently damage the seal.

Sorry going off topic, it had such great concepts its hard not to talk about them.

We need either the Illuminus to open a Mother Brain project, or the Casts to create her to ensure their survival. Either way i would love this totalitarian villain to come back along with her badass Mecha Army.

I don't think opening a "Mother Brain" type project in Gurhal would be a good idea. It'd turn into another cheap reference, like Rutsu or Karen & Mirei. Rather, they already have the infrastructure set up for a series of similar events, in that Gurhalian society is now almost completely dependent on Photons and A-Photons. If you were to consider that Photons are the remnants or the present form of the Great Light's (Holy Light) power, then it may come to a point where the only way to defeat the continually resurrecting darkness is to kill the Great Light. (Remember PSO, "Light and Darkness... A pair exist.. reincarnation is the rule...) However, if you destroy the Great Light, then all photon technology in Gurhal will cease to function. Much like the Algolian collapse after the destruction of Mother Brain (without the planetary bombardments). It would send Gurhal back to the dark ages, and give a very hefty price to their victory. Remember Ethan's words to Lumia - that her job is not to fight this war, but to help rebuild what's left of this world when the fighting is over.

As for Neifirst - her mind didn't necessarily need to be fractured before hand, but only show signs of inherent instability for her to be considered a failure. And as for Mother Brain - she did wield supreme control over all of Algol - but only because it was entrusted to her. The government didn't question her actions because she was seen as benevolent and had done so much good for Algol. It's remenicent of the line "All that is needed for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing". She had already made some questionable moves, what with ignoring the Bio-Monster outbreak, damning the rivers, banning space travel, etc. Anti-Mother Brain movements were gaining strength, and people were starting to slowly wake up to the possibility that something might be wrong. Her destruction of the Royal Family was guised as an accident, she didn't outright abolish the monarchy - and she didn't dissolve the Senate. I still think they had the power to turn away from Mother Brain and resist her even if they had wanted, but that they were too weak to live without her aid and so just went along with her whims.

Last post on the subject here. Lets discuss it in the PS forum further if you want.

Wow....

Sonic Team actually managed to find a character more annoying than Ethan for us to party with... Lumia. What the fuck... I'll have to see how it turns out, but for right now I don't see any reason why she should be involved in the fighting. She doesn't need to be a Guardian... and I think her role would be much better served as Ethan said, to help "rebuild this world after the war". Bah... and what the shit is up with that new planet? I guess we have our new Rykros - but oh, it's a SEED planet now! Ugh... and the design on it is just... dumb. I didn't think they could make the "Ultimate Evil" look any less threatening and comical than they made the HIVE, but I guess I was wrong. I guess it could just be a satellite or a transformed Moatoob - but somehow I doubt that. Seriously.. are they going to dress the next Dark Falz up as a fucking clown or something? He's gonna come out with big floppy shoes and a red honking nose and shit. No wait... that's no good... Clowns can actually BE frightening (See: Pennywise/Gacy/etc).

I was somewhat surprised myself. AotI is arriving in a week and there are 3 of them left and an episode 3 page to post still. But we could still be several weeks away from when they start releasing new story missions so it might be leading into those instead of the game's release.

Unless it wasn't ready and we'll see it sometime soon.

I'd already made plans for right after I get off work this evening, and because of those, I won't be home until pretty late tonight. I've got a little time before I leave the office, so I'll do a little translating now (as long as I don't get sidetracked again), but I probably won't have a full translation until tomorrow. Plus, I'd like to have my kanji dictionary (which I meant to bring to work with me, but ended up forgetting) so I can double-check a few things I'm not completely certain about.

Chapter 4: Presidential Assassination

LOU: Ethan, are you alright?

ETHAN: Yeah...

LOU: What was discussed inside?

ETHAN: I can't say...

ETHAN: Let's get back to the G Colony; I need to talk to the president.

LOU: ......

DALLGUN: Why did you do something as selfish as that?

ETHAN: I'm sorry...

DALLGUN: We didn't know if you were still alive or not.

DALLGUN: Leo and Tonnio were worried.

DALLGUN: But moving on...

DALLGUN: Did you meet the Illuminus?

ETHAN: Yes...

TONNIO: Hey! Lou!

TONNIO: Where did you run off to?

TONNIO: We looked all over the place.

TONNIO: We completely lost all contact!

LOU: I am sorry.

TONNIO: What's wrong?

TONNIO: You're not acting like your normal self.

LOU: There is something I must tell you.

TONNIO: Huh, I guess even you can have problems from time to time.

LOU: Ethan is acting strange.

TONNIO: He's always acted strange!

---

I'm going to stop here, as I'd rather give you guys an accurate translation over one that might be flawed. I need to reference my kanji dictionary on a few things to verify them, but I won't be able to do that until I get home much later tonight. However, I'll give you a brief synopsis of what else happens after this.

Tonnio continues to joke at Lou, going on about how he doesn't worry so much; says he's a pretty carefree guy. Anyway, Tonnio eventually asks where Ethan is. Lou tells him that he's with the president. Tonnio brushes this off, but Lou continues by saying that she believes Ethan is there to kill him. Tonnio flips.

Moving to Dallgun's office, Ethan demands that Dallgun tell him the truth about his father. Long story short, Dallgun doesn't, Ethan draws his saber to attack. Ethan says that he saw Olson with his own two eyes, and that he's still alive. Dallgun acts surprised. Guard lady walks in to catch Ethan attempting to kill Dallgun... well you can see what happens. Only text is Dallgun telling Ethan to not attack the guard lady.

Shortly after Ethan leaves, an alert goes out across Clyez ordering anyone who sees Ethan to turn him in as he is now wanted for the attempted assassination. He runs, only to find Lou. She's offers to help him escape. (I'll have to verify her exact reasoning, however.) With her parting words, Lou tells Ethan to not worry about Lumia; she will look after his little sister. (Aww, Lou! I really want to hug her so much!) Ethan thanks her, and jumps down the hatch.

Next time: The Escape

LOU: Ethan is acting strange.

TONNIO: He's always acted strange!

TONNIO: I live my life without worrying about other folks' problems.

TONNIO: That's how we're different.

TONNIO: I'm a mover, not a thinker.

LOU: I understand that...

TONNIO: So, where's Ethan now?

LOU: He is in the president's office.

TONNIO: I'll bet he's getting an earful right now!

LOU: I... am concerned.

TONNIO: Everything's fine!

TONNIO: He'll be angry for a bit, but he'll get over it!

LOU: That is not what I meant...

TONNIO: Then what are you worried about?

LOU: Ethan...

LOU: ...may murder the president.

TONNIO: WHAT!?

DALLGUN: What? Is there something you want to ask me...?

ETHAN: Sir, you were close friends with my father, right?

DALLGUN: Yes, we used to be partners.

ETHAN: Is my father really dead?

DALLGUN: Yes... He died 13 years ago during a military operation on Moatoob.

DALLGUN: He was a very dear friend to me.

HOWZER: If you speak about what we've discussed, Olson will die.

HOWZER: Remember, we'll be watching you.

LANTZ: Dallgun will die.

LANTZ: You have no choice in the matter.

DALLGUN: !

DALLGUN: Ethan! What are you doing!?

ETHAN: I saw him with my own eyes...

ETHAN: My father's still alive!

DALLGUN: What!?

ETHAN: You lied to me... you lied to Lumia...

ETHAN: WHY!? Why did you feed us those lies!?

DALLGUN: No! Olson...

GUARD: !

GUARD: What are you doing!?

GUARD: AAAH!!

DALLGUN: Ethan! Wait!

ETHAN: I couldn't do it... I couldn't kill him...

INTERCOM: Emergency alert! A violent assault has just occurred.

INTERCOM: The suspect in this incident is Ethan Waber.

INTERCOM: Apprehend him upon sight!

ETHAN: Lou!

ETHAN: I've gotta get out of here!

LOU: It would be dangerous to go this way.

ETHAN: Huh!?

LOU: Please go this way.

ETHAN: Lou...

LOU: Assisting a criminal is illegal, however

LOU: it is necessary in this case.

ETHAN: You trust me?

LOU: Based upon your criminal motives, I understand approximately 70% of the situation.

ETHAN: O, oh... Thanks.

LOU: Do not worry about Lumia.

LOU: I will protect her.

ETHAN: I guess I have a lot more to worry about, huh?

ETHAN: I'm relying on you, Lou.

One thing that gets me now is the Lous. I use to keep good track of them until I stopped playing PSU for a while. Now Im all confused which Lou is which.

From what I remember, the Lou you first meet that kept tabs on you throughout the story. Then theres the 2 Lous you meet on the Colony and Parum which I dont think has another other use than to hint to you that there is more than one Lou. Then there is there is Tomrain's Lou who accompanys you for a while. Then there is the Lou got lost in EP2 (not sure if its one that occured). Then there is the host Lou you meet and group with EP2 Ch10....oh screw it, I just going to play through Story again. XD

Anyway, about Chapter 4 itself, I couldn't believe Ethan even tried to assassinate President Dallgun. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif Everything Howzer and Lantz had said must have been too much for him. Even so, he's too good to murder, it seems. (Online Episode 2 spoiler ahead) The President must have figured out Ethan's situation later, though. He isn't angry at all in all of Episode 2.

Just when I was about to go to bed, Chapter 5 happens. XD

It's even more exciting than Chapter 4. (Phew...) Have you noticed both chapters play the music at a lower speed and pitch?

Below are my thoughts on the new chapter.

(Spoilers ahead)

I thought Lou helping criminal Ethan was strange enough. Now, Tonnio's helping out, too?! (He's even smiling cheerfully through it all.) That means they knew all along in Episode 2, Chapters 1 and 2. Wow.

We also learn Ethan got his new duds from Tylor and the Vol Brothers. I think the Brothers were having too much fun playing dress-up. XD It almost looked like this was their way of exacting revenge...or something.

Come to think of it, wasn't Ethan wearing his regular clothes in Episode 2, Chapter 1? I wonder why he'd changed back. :/

The giant, ethereal-looking woman later in the show sure reminded me of Mother Brain in PSII. Emo-girl kissing her...uh...say no more? (Ahem.) I didn't expect the freaky reaction after, though. What was that all about?

Then, she and Howzer had the nerve to step brazenly into GUARDIANS HQ! They even held poor Mina at gunpoint! If I had been there, I'd have cut them in half!

What will become of dear, sweet Mina?
Who was that mysterious giant woman?
Will Ethan finally adjust to his new clothes?
Tune in next week!

SAME GURHAL TIME!
SAME GURHAL CHANNEL!

Man, I'm totally stoked for Chapter 6 now! Of course, I'm even more excited for AotI!

Next one will be the last? and that guy, Houzer will never appear until episode 3? it is like Episode 2 was totally useless..

If you look at it like that, sure EP2 was useless. But I disagree, EP2 gave insight on the rising situation and explaining motives behind each involved party (Ethan, GRM, Communion of Gurhal, Endrum Colllective, Illuminus etc.).

But Chapter 5 was really interested. Loved the end when Howzer and that chick just straight up held Mina a gun point. He indeed has balls to do that. XD

I really should brush up on my japanese so I could understand it more than what I got. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Ha, Chapter 5... out of nowhere! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif I'll work on my translation after I get home this evening. I should have it ready before the end of the day, as long as nothing comes up.

So... Mother Brain resides at AMF HQ in Holtes? Then creepy chick tongues her to infect her with the SEED-Virus. Interesting method of transmission, to say the least. I was immediately reminded of Poison Ivy from Batman. Anyway, I'll have to verify this tonight, but it seems that the infection of Mother Brain was the first step in the machine uprising we fought in chapter 10.

Thats exactly what I thought when I saw that!

So, is Howzer just using Illuminus for something more? I just remembered something from Chapter 10 towards the end when you fight the Magashi clones. One of them said something about human supremacy only being a cover for destruction of the Gurhal System. After seeing Chapter 5 of the comic, Howzer does indeed seem to have everyone wrapped around his finger.

Also, which Lou is that in the comic relative to the Story Mode? I'm still trying to figure out.

Likely the Moatoob Guardians Branch Lou for the scenes on Moatoob, and the Guardians HeadQuarters Lou unit for the scenes on the colony. It doesn't really matter though, since Lou is a singular personality and consciousness spread throughout multiple differing Lou units. There are over two hundred Lou units, so it's hard telling which is which unless they specifically state their seriel number or their purpose (combat, information, control, etc). The only Lou that means anything is the Central Control Lou you meet in Ep 2 Chapter 10... and she's never (aside from that one instance) been put in harms way.

Y-you serious? She's also called Mother Brain?? That's one of the most direct (or even blatant) classic Phantasy Star references I've seen. Next thing we know, Laia will start calling herself the GUARDIANS Commander when she becomes President. XD

We already knew she was called that. There's a mission, I don't remember if it's online or not, that has Mother Brain as a boss. She looks a lot different in game though. There used to be a video and screenshot of her, but they've been deleted. :/

Now this is just speculation, but what *if* the humans of Gurahl came from Coral {Copto?} or maybe a world ship from Palma before it was blown up?
And they are repeating history that they forgot or know not of, and created a new Mother Brain? Maybe the "ancients" of the Relics made this other version of Mother Brain?

Now why would ST include so many references to the previous Ps games if they are supposedly "not connected"? There are far too many "coicendental" simularities...

Here's a List off the top of my mind:

1) Tyler (Tylor?) the Rogue with his own ship (like Tylor the space pirate in Ps II )
2) Tyler's ship is called the Landeel. In Ps IV Tylor's ship was the "Landale"/"Landeel".
3) The Alis-like stone relief on the walls of G-Colony.
4) Planets with names that sound like mutations of " Palma" " Motabia " and "New Dezo"
5) A special ancient technolgy on all three planets that can dimensionally shift/teleport SEED forms and maybe "seal" them away when active and they all link together.
6) A three-point star-like symbol in each of the Relics site resemble the three-point star symbol of Algol.
7) A spiritual leader and master of Technics (Techniques) named Rutsu (the literal translation of the name LUTZ)

8} A self-aware AI Computer-Entity named "Mother Brain " that resembles Mother Brain from Ps II.
9) The belief in "light" as a spiritual divine force called "Holy Light" resembles the original Ps concept of "The Great Light."

Now these all cannot be "just for nostalgia" or "just for fanservice". *Within* the "universe" of PSU those names have got to come from some where.
Tyler never said "oh a 'Landeel' is a fluffy two-headed Koltova I had as a pet so I named my ship after him" What would it have to happen to confirm PSU is tied to the original Ps series in some way?

So this is the Mother Brain controlling Parum. Ethan and the party are overcome by the presence of the Mother Brain. But the future of Gurhal depends on them! Will they have to fight to pry Gurhal from the grasp of Mother Brain?
NO - The Mother Brain laughed loudly and said, "Just as I thought, you cannot harm me. I am like a mother protecting her child. And now I will take my child, Parum, by the hand and lead it down the path of destruction. On your way, then, because there is nothing you can do."
YES- The Mother Brain begins to grin. "You are such fools. If you damage me, the world will be thrown into a panic. Without me, the people of Parum are helpless. They have become too soft and used to comfort. If I were to malfunction, the people would die cursing their fate. If that is your aim, disable me! If not return now!"
YES- On your way, then, because there is nothing you can do."
NO - "I will show no mercy. Die!"

(Trial Start)
(Defeat Mother Brain)
(End Trial)

Ethan and the rest of the company stood in amazement where the Mother Brain once was. Parum had been suddenly released from the Mother Brain's control. The networks of Parum's control systems suddenly became useless. The people of Parum awaited the start of their hard and difficult life without the Mother Brain. But Ethan and the others could feel a sence of hope.

Ethan: Let's get back to Moatoob. This is only the beginning!

Lord Rutsu: "Ethan wait!" Rutsu's voice filled everybody's heart. "There's still somebody in the ship! You can't return again!"

Chapter 5: The Escape

ETHAN: Ow...

TONNIO: Guess you were just in the mood for a ride down the trash chute, huh?

ETHAN: TONNIO!!

TONNIO: The Colony's in a pretty big uproar right now.

TONNIO: But don't worry; we'll get you somewhere safe.

ETHAN: Yeah, sorry about that...

TONNIO: No worries!

TONNIO:
We'll deal with that later!

ETHAN: So, where are we going?

TONNIO: That's a secret!

TYLOR: I heard about your situation from Tonnio.

ETHAN: I'm sorry... for getting you wrapped up in this.

TONNIO: I'm heading back to HQ. See you guys later!

LIINA: Alright!

ETHAN: Thanks, Tonnio!

LIINA: Ethan... you kind of stink.

LIINA: You really should change clothes.

ETHAN: Oh, heh... really?

LIINA: Bring Ethan a change of clothes!!

ETHAN: What the...!?

HIRU: Hehehe...

HIRU: We've brought you your clothes...

HIRU: Now you're gonna look more like a pirate.

DO: Put 'em on, put 'em on!

ETHAN: Y... you!

ETHAN: Aaah!! Stop it!!

HIRU: Hurry, hurry! Take this off!

ETHAN: Aaah!! That tickles!

NO: Stop whining!

ETHAN: Ow! That hurts!!

DO: Put 'em on, put 'em on!

ETHAN: ......

TYLOR: Hmm, that suits you well!

TYLOR: Now you really look the part of a pirate.

LIINA: Of course he does!

LIINA: I put that outfit together, after all!

ETHAN: Th... thanks.

CAPTION: AMF Central HQ

HOWZER: It's been a while, Mother Brain.

MOTHER BRAIN: Howzer... what are you doing here?

MOTHER BRAIN: We have no further business with you.

HOWZER: Yes, I understand.

HOWZER: If the world were to ever find out that we've been working with the AMF in secret,

HOWZER: we'd have quite a sizable scandal on our hands.

MOTHER BRAIN: Need I remind you that we

MOTHER BRAIN: continue to cover up

MOTHER BRAIN: Magashi's recklessness for you?

MOTHER BRAIN: As such, we have no desire to associate any further with you.

HOWZER: If that's how you truly feel,

HOWZER: then we have a gift to show our appreciation.

HOWZER: Take this!!

MOTHER BRAIN: !

MOTHER BRAIN: !

HOWZER: Hehehe... How do you like it? It's a taste of the SEED-Virus.

HOWZER: We studied the SEED in order to develop

HOWZER: this strain which is capable of infecting CASTs.

HOWZER: From now on, the AMF will work for us.

MOTHER BRAIN: H... Howzer! You've de... deceived us!!

CAPTION: Moatoob's Asteroid Belt

TYLOR: I heard that even after the Illuminus had been destroyed,

TYLOR: they continued their work in secret.

ETHAN: It seems they carried out their plans

ETHAN: by controlling the Endrum Collective.

TYLOR: Still hiding, even after the 500 year war...

TYLOR: I hear they've already set their plans in motion.

TYLOR: Guess we'll have to do something to put an end to it all.

ETHAN: Yeah...

ETHAN: But what can I do to stop them?

TYLOR: Heh, you won't be able to do much by yourself!

ETHAN: Er... yeah, I know that!

TYLOR: Hahaha... I didn't mean to offend you.

TYLOR: You can count on our cooperation.

ETHAN: Huh!?

TYLOR: Besides, they kidnapped a friend of mine.

TYLOR: It wouldn't be like me to leave them behind!

ETHAN: Tylor... thank you.

CAPTION: Outside of the GUARDIANS Colony

CAPTION: AMF Fleet

LEO: What's going on?

LEO: AMF battleships are surrounding the Colony.

LOU: I have a bad feeling about this.

LEO: What do you mean!?

CAPTION: GUARDIANS HQ

MINA: Welcome to the GUARDIANS, defenders of the future of Gurhal!

MINA: How can I help you today?

GUARD: This is how you'll help us.

All the characters are a lot more charming in the comic than they were in the game. Tonnio's million dollar smile is great. It's actually out of character though, considering how he came off as trying to be a hardass, being stuck-up and unfriendly based on episode 1's dialogue. In the comic, he's portrayed as carefree and really child-like. Which is the real Tonnio?

Comic is uploaded and ready to be viewed (http://psucomic.synbios.net/chapter5.html).

Probably not a retcon. It's not photon clothing; after all, we still go into a dressing room to buy/change clothes/parts. Ethan's clothes were linked to his nano transformer.

They probably unlinked the clothes from the nano transformer and removed it, changed his wardrobe and then put the nano transformer back on.

With the growing amount of details/aspects of PSU's story (especially taking into account the Arkguard comic and elements of AoI) practically mirroring several things from the classic Ps games a connection to them sure seems to be strongly inferred.
I don't see how a connection could not be inferred.

It's too blatant to just be "nostalgia" or "fanservice."
What the frak has to happen in PSU's story to convince some of you skeptics and
nay-sayers to believe PSU has an strongly implied or strongly inferred connection to the classic Ps games & PSO?

I bet if the original JP dialogue of the entirety of EP 1 was re-translated into English, staying much closer to the original spirit and intent; I think Ep 1 characters would be of been a lot more enjoyable...

Maybe SoA translators altered the characters personalities a little?... Seems like they may have.

Probably most players didn't pay much attention to other NPC in Episode 1. On Parum, one of them first talked about the existence of Illuminus. Episode 2 Chap 1 reminds the player about suicide terrorist that was used in Ep1 Chap 5 where a suicide CAST attempt to kill Mirei.

I found Episod 1 very intriguing once you take time to fully play the game instead of rushing. But that is just me.

I liked Ep1 too. It was introducing, surely. But still pleasant.

Besides... with the introduction of Mother Brain I begin to think that PSU is only a remade "medley" of PS series, rather than a connected sequel.

However very good this chapter. And the story goes on in the right direction.

I see that Mother Brain more like an important CAST than the classic MB (maybe like the Lou that controls all the Colony but with a bigger body)

What I don't understand is how Houzer was able to access the Mother Brain location and even why she doesn't call the security staff

Sinue_v2
Oct 6, 2007, 06:13 AM
I don't see how a connection could not be inferred.

The thing of it is, that PSU doesn't play off of events that happened in the classic series... it borrows directly from it. In fact, anymore the series are pretty much now contains TOO much similar to make a believable connection. It's not like in the supposed PS/PSO connections where it's set up to play off of the events of PSIII by referencing worldships, a sealed darkness, a planet which resembles the planet the Alisa III landed on, etc. Rather, you have characters and events being directly represented - such as Lutz/Rutsu, Tylor, Mother Brain, the crashing of a sattelite into the planet, and so on. You can't really make a connection because doing so with such blatant character/event placing would make a sort of "mirror" world or bizzaro world.

So unless Sonic Team was going for that angle intitially, it would end up just cheapening the whole endevor.

Rizen

Think of it like the Final Fantasy games: All of them are different but borrow elements that is passed down from game to game (Cid, Mogs, Chocobos, Magic, Summons, plot of the world's destruction, etc etc...) and altered.

One minor thing I noticed that really isn't a big deal. In EP2 Chapter 1, Ethan didn't have the pirate outfit yet. Unless Ethan changed back into his old clothes for the kidnapping, that could be an overlooked detail. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif We will see if Comic 6 says anything about it.

That doesn't quite work in this case - because Final Fantasy as a series has never had a singular mythos or a common history to define it. Some items, names, and monsters have carried over but everything else changes from game to game. Phantasy Star started off as exactly the opposite - each game, while being quite different, independant, and innovative to the series (thanks to the 1,000 year gap between games) all shared a common history that influenced (whether directly or indirectly) events later in the series.

It wasn't until PSO that Phantasy Star started becoming more "FF-like", in that it was a totally new series who's only connection to the previous games were a few dropped names, weapons, enemies, and terminologies.

And now, Phantasy Star Universe is doing the same thing - except that they are taking direct characters and plotlines from both PSO and PS, and jumbling them all up, and (basically) copypasting them together out of order in an attempt to make something contemporary.

OK so I'll give Sinue the benefit of a doubt that maybe Cortana's design was based off the original Mother Brain, however, if that is the case, than we have something pretty ironic: the new Mother Brain's design is based off a charecter's design based off the original Mother Brain. Either that, or I'm just not used to seeing her without the medusa dreadlocks.

ZOMG Halo copied Phantasy Star

SEED = The Flood
Profound Darkness = Gravemind
Great Light = Forerunners
Dimensional Prison/Confinement System = Halo
Ryucross = The Ark/Onyx (shield world)
Mother Brain = Mendicant Bias

Mendicant Bias is a Forerunner AI that is hidden in Halo 3 campaign that turned on its masters after being corrupted by the flood.

As speculated, there seems to be many connections between the original Phantasy Star games with PSU/AOI, yet it was stated by ST that the two set of games are irrelevant, but this is unconfirmed.

I believe that Phantasy Star 4 is the future of AOI, because it had mentioned that a space pirate that goes by the name Tylor had passed away, leaving behind his spaceship, the Landale beneath his grave in the town of Tylor in Dezolis. In AOI, there happens to be a Tylor, a rogue leader who owns the Landeel ship and is alive and kicking, so..

Also in the moving comic, President Dallgun's pink-haired female guard looked like Alis from Phantasy Star 2. However, her role in the Phantom of Arkguard seems to be no more than just another NPC.

The names of the planets are also very similar: Palma, Dezolis, Motavia, Rykros, as opposed to the AOI's Parum, Neudaiz, Moatoob, and Ryucross. Aside from that, the Mother Brain of Phantasy Star 2 has return to AOI and looks pretty much the same too. PSU/AOI isn't just similar to the original PS series, but to PSO as well. Red Ring Rico from PSO is back to AOI as Laia, while President Dallgun looks like the principal of the Pioneer 2. Regardless of all this, AOI is actually irrelevant to the original PS series, which makes the Phantom of Arkguard more interesting!

Actually, the Dezoris town you're describing is a direct reference to a character in Phantasy Star II. Alfort Tylor of PSU, as well as his ship, is more or less a homage to him.

That guard DOES look a lot like Alis Landale though, I agree, even though it can't be her. Unless she reincarnated.

Probably a lot older though; wasn't Alis 15 in PS1?

Damn, always more connection between old PS games, PSO and PSU!!

And I'm still as good as sure, that Gurhal is Algol!!! There are a lots of signs, some of them almost proofs... There are so many mysteries... I love how Sega made that, but sometimes it could be nice to get to know about some connection...

Also anyone noticed that Headmaster Nav, in episode 2, said, that Moatoob was once a green planet controllet by Humans... and now all the things with Mother Brain showing up in AoI... For me it's clearly Motavia, and Parum a rebuilt Palma...
Also "The Great Light"... "The Holy Light"!!
The names:
Parum - Palma/Palm/Parma
Moatoob - Motavia/Mota/Motabia
Neudaiz - Dezolis/Dezo/Dezoris (New Dezo)

There are so many clues
But still we can only call it theories...
But I'm so damn sure of it!!

Also maybe the the PSU Tylor is just the ancestor of Tyler. And the Landale/Landeel was passed through the Generations.

And maybe the new Mother Brain in PSU is made from plans of the original MB, but who knows.

I'm really sorry if the content I posted has already been posted...

And I don't believe in the "Remake-theory"...
1. I don't believe that good old Sega (although many mistakes in my opinion) would do such a crappy job

2. Can be that many details are being Reused, but it's after my opinion a completely different story.

More of a belief, I think. Regardless, I understand your statements. I simply believe there to be too many similarities to be anything but fan service. I somewhat agree with "Z". Well, there seems to be many indirect connections between the old PS/PSO games with the new PSU series, but this could also be like the similarities between Final Fantasy games, whereas there is almost always a character named "Cid", "Chocobo", or "Moogle", yet none of them seem to be related at all. Although I have never really played and completed the old PS series, while the fact that I just completed episode 1 of PSO, but I still believe that there are great many similarities between the different series of game. Regardless of that, I don't think ST will ever make any direct connections between the old PS/PSO games with the new PSU/AOI games.

Actually Rykros is called Ryucross in the Japanese Phantasy Star IV.

However that doesnt mean that Algol and Gurhal are the same star systems. I think that Algol and Gurhal are seperate star systems but in the same universe. I am a supporter of PS/PSO/PSU/RPZ linkage.

Heres my theory...

PS -> PSO
In Crys' ending of PSIII, Alisa III lands on a planet with 2 moons that is believed by me to be planet Ragol from PSO. The people on board Alisa III bury the ship and put a magic seal on it in an attempt to keep Dark Force sealed inside when it arises again. (Alisa III is the ruins). They then build a hidden city inside a misty valley (which is discovered later by Pioneer 2 in PSO episode 3).

I assume that the civilization dissapeared at the same time as Pioneer 1 when Dark Falz caused the explosion at the beginning of PSO. The civilization was never discovered by the pioneer project because the Alisa III civilization hadn't developed photon technology while the Coralian civilization used photon technology to communicate.

I think that the Coralians descended from the NeoPalm. In both Adan's and Crys' stories that both end at planet Ragol the NeoPalm is never seen.

Anyways, the other Dark Forces and the Profound Darkness are destroyed back in Algol by Chaz and his party. Dark Falz on Ragol realizes this and attempts to "evolve" into a new Profound Darkness to replace the last. Dark Falz fails to evolve into a Profound Darkness and instead becomes Amplam Umbla. Amplam Umbla produces Germ in an attempt to regenerate a Dark Falz but Pioneer 2 finds The Germ and harvests it for its own use.

When Pioneer 2 finally finds Amplam Umbla and it is destroyed the public realise what CARD technology (Germ Technology) actually is and they dispose of it in the nearby black hole. (the black hole near Ragol is seen in Adan and Aron's ending in PSIII and because of Aron's ending we know it leads to Earth and allows backwards time travel.)

After being dumped into the black hole The Germ collect together and generate into a Dark Force. After exiting the black hole at the pre-PS2 Earth the Dark Force reestablishes telepathic communication with the original Profound Darkness and no longer has the need to evolve.

Dark Force then corrupts the earthmen and enters the Algol system on board the spaceship Noah where he is eventually defeated by Rolf and his party in PSII.

PSO -> PSU
PSO episode 3 timeline
http://www.espiokaos.com/misc/ep3_timeline.html

"Communication is received (on Coral) from another planetary search vessel of the successful discovery of another hospitable planet. Multiple immigration plans are discreetly put into action."

(My interpretation)
The inhabitable planet they discovered was actually the Gurhal Star System. That means that people in PSU are descendants from Pioneer 3.

"Han Walt begins the OPSS incident (a large-scale android massacre) believing it is necessary to control the population." "The androids who fled the massacre by escaping to the surface of Ragol report back to the Security Bureau."

(What I think happened next)
The information about the massacre reaches the Coral government (now immagrated to Gurhal) and starts a CAST civil rights movement that eventually triggers the 500 year war in Gurhal between Humans and CASTs.

Sometime during the 500 year war the communication between Coral and Ragol is lost and never is reestablished.

Also During the 500 year war records of history before immigration are lost and eventually forgotten.

At the end of the 500 year war the Tripartite Alliance Treaty is signed and the date system is changed from A.U.W. to BA (Before Alliance) and AC (Allied Century)

Now for what I think the SEED are.

In the Japanese version of Phantasy Star IV it says:
Several Hundred Million Years Ago - In an unspecified solar system, a civilization of spirit-life forms divides, and an interplanetary war breaks out.

2,000,000 Years Ago - The war is settled. As a result of the victorious side sealing the defeated side away, one fixed star and four planets are created, "Protectors of the Seal" are made on the four planets, and one kind of sentient life form is allocated to each.

300,000 Years Ago - The entire race of victors was wiped out. Except on the fourth planet, Ryucross, the beings of the other three planets, with the passing of each successive generation, begin to forget the mission of those made Protectors. Meanwhile, in their inter-dimensional prison, the sealed-away spirit-life forms transform into a wicked being, the accumulation of spirits of hatred and vengeance, and, at its core, a profound darkness is formed.

I believe that is a symbolic way of explaining this:

Before the confinement war the Great Light civilization had settled in two star systems, Algol and Gurhal.

The civilization in Gurhal had discovered planet Ragol and had sent an investigation team to study the planet. On Ragol the investigation team ran into the subterranean creatures Saint Million, Shambertin and Kondreiu. The creatures infected the team with a virus (SEED Virus). The infected research team returned to Gurhal and the virus spread then had an outbreak. The first confinement war had begun.

The Great Light invented the confinement system to get rid of the SEED. The confinement system in Gurhal was never fully activated and the SEED took over the civilization.
The SEED then chased the retreating survivors toward Algol. When the SEED arrived in Algol there was a huge battle, many of the Great Light died. There was only a few Great Light left when they successfuly confined the SEED in Algol's "Dimensional Prison".

While inside the dimensional prison the SEED combined into a single lifeform, the Profound Darkness.

The SEED in PSU are just SEED that remained in Gurhal, they didnt follow the other SEED to Algol and were never sealed.

In PSO episode 4, Saint Million, Shambertin, and Kondreiu are never explained as creatures that came from the Ruins, Altered Beasts, or escaped experiments. It also doesn't say that they came from the meteor that hits Ragol. They were just there. This theory actually gives them a purpose other than them just being a random final boss that is attracted by photon.

Dr. Osto's experiment, "Beta 772" was created by accelerating the growth of "D cells", the cells that carry the virus. His experiment became De Rol Le, what I believe is a larval form of Saint Million, Shambertin, and Kondreiu.

And now what I think about Dark Planet Ryucross and The Ryucross in Algol (Rykros in english).

"Dark Planet Ryucross" in PSU is where the last surviving SEED from the last confinement war made their base.

The Ryucross in classic PS is where the last remaining members of the Great Light reside. It could be considered "Light planet Ryucross".

After all "Ryuka" in palmalatin means "to return"
http://users.skynet.be/fa258499/beyondalgo/info/dictionary.html
and "cross" could refer to an X marker on a map, as in a designated meeting point. So "Ryucross" could mean something like "place to return to" sort of like a fall back point. possibly a safe zone to avoid containment when a dimentional seal is activated.

Do I hold the record for largest post on this forum yet?

Sounds interesting but i don't believe in it.

Wouldn't there be lots of ruins or something all over Ragol if Ragol was Earth? The Earthmen had a highly advanced civilization, and said that they destroyed themselves/their world, cause they had "joy in controlling nature". I believe they had made cities all over, with not much nature left.

But Ragol was a planet with lots of recourses. And exept the "Ruins" there where no ruins at all.

Also i would think, that the "Profound Darkness" can't be "destroyed", and the same with the "Great Light". They would both have to be destroyed, because light can't exist without darkness, nor can darkness exist without light.

The source is http://www.camineet.net/camineet/theories/ragolnotearth.asp (http://here).

But hey, why don't make a topic about that and discuss there. Would make more sense http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Yeah, I see all these similaries as nothing but a homage to the old games. Trying to directly connect them all is too much of a stretch. About the only comparisons you can make are between PSO and PSU, and only because AoI will (eventually) include PSO stages. Again, may be just fanservice, but it's really the only think you can make a direct connection with.

Dark Falz was trying to escape from Ragol and evolve. But before he could gather enough energy to do it, Rico and Flowen prevented him from doing it and as a result he turned into amplam umbra. amplam umbra was generating germ in order to regenerate falz because, like you said, it was his cocoon for regeneration.

Ult:

I never said that ragol is earth. Earth is in Aron's ending of PSIII. I think that Crys' ending is canonical, in Crys' ending Alisa III lands on a planet with 2 moons. Definately not earth.

Ragol isn't Earth, because Earth does not have 2 moons. However, the background of Ragol in PSO does have many similarities as Earth, but then again.. I never played PSIII, so I wouldn't know. I mean after playing PSU and seeing AOI, the graphics and audio of the original PS series is discouraging (to play).

Edit: About Rico, you don't mean Red Ring Rico, do you? I never knew that Dark Falz is Rico herself, but since I just begun Episode 2 in PSO, I guess I don't know.

Falz tried to get Flowen but flowen escaped, injured. Rico had followed Flowen's squad but had become lost in the Ruins. Falz found Rico and took her instead.

I don't think that's the case. I think Flowen and his squad forced their way into the spaceship ruins after several research teams had been lost. They went in to secure the area, and ended up getting their asses handed to them. Falz didn't try to merge with Flowen, he tried to destroy him - or at least infect him. Flowen doesn't seem the type to abandon his men, and since I believe he was the sole survivor of that raid - I don't really see where Dark Falz would have had much trouble merging with him had he wanted to. So it seems, to me at least, that Falz had a purpose for Flowen's injured escape. This all happened at least three months before the explosion and arrival of Pioneer 2.

When Pioneer 2 entered orbit, Falz - still in his ethereal form - caused the explosion which "consumed" the populace of Pioneer 1. The only survivor left, was Red Ring Rico. She was drawn into investigating the explosion - which led her to the ruins and to her fate as the corporeal core of the evolving Dark Falz. She, explicitly, was chosen.

In so far as Ult, I don't think Dark Falz had intended her as a replacement for Rico - but had another purpose in mind for her. Something to do with the mag cell implanted in her and the way it reacted to the photons in the Ruins. Montegue eludes to the power contained within Ult as being capable of doing something catastrophic to Ragol, and I think it was Dark Falz's intent to bring as much destruction and pain to Ragol as possible - perhaps even to ruin the world to the point where Pioneer 2 was forced to return to Coral, on which Dark Falz could stow passage and continue his evolution as he consumed the souls and pain of those on the homeworld.

Red Photon Zillion.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=N7FMinLBEYU

Red Photon Zillion, is an anime series that ran from April 12, 1987 to December 13, 1987 on Nippon Television in Japan and was produced by Tatsunoko Productions and Sega.

The story takes place on the planet Maris in the year 2387. Around this time, the Nozas started to genocidally kill all humans in order to lay eggs and reproduce on the planet. Three mysterious guns are found by the colonists and dubbed the "Zillion Weapon System" after the ancient civilization that created them and the substance "Zillium" that powers them. These guns are the only thing strong enough to destroy the Noza and are given to a team of three young colonists called "the White Knights" whose members include J.J., Champ and Apple. They have been specially trained to use these weapons and are the last hope for survival for the Colonists.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/32/Zillion_Anime.jpg
Yes, that is Opa-Opa in the top left of that picture.
http://www.pso-world.com/images/magguide/opaopa.gif
Opa-opa, one of the minor characters of this anime, later had its own line of games, the Fantasy Zone series.

Well anyways heres how I think Red Photon Zillion is linked with PSO.

The humans in PSO, Humar, Ramar, Fomarl, Ramarl, and Fomar all end with mar and marl. I think Mar is an abbreviation for Marisian. Red Photon Zillion takes place on planet Maris. After defeating the Noza on planet Maris alot of the planet was made unfertile from the scars of the war. Some of the marisians left Maris and went deeper into space where they settled along with the NeoPalmans from Algol on Coral. The Marisians brought the Zillion technology with them that was eventually adapted into early photon technology.

Its a stretch but it explains what mar and marl means at the end of human class names. Also photon technology was never explained as being developed as part of project mother (except for D-Photon technology).

Chapter 6 is up! Watch it. Now. (http://illuminus.phantasystaruniverse.jp/comic/chapter_06.html) (I mean that in the nicest way possible, of course. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif)

Maybe it's just me, but Chapter 6 (and the end of Chapter 5) seems to skip to the time of Episode 2, Chapter 10. I mean, how else can Ethan go straight from just getting his new clothes to battling emo-SEED-girl in a burning GUARDIANS Colony? Regardless, Chapter 6 is a blast. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

My favorite part is Ethan reuniting with Lumia. After all that running and hiding in Episode 2, I'm glad he gets to see her at least one more time. =^.^=

Strangely enough, the end credits are in English. I wonder why. :/

And yes, the comic does skip from from when Ethan escapes to the Colony's destruction.

And does that scene with Lumia using that gun remind you of when Ethan first got his start? Him grabbing Leo's gun and shooting the Seed-Vance? I guess it runs in the family. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I'm a bit confused

There must be a timeskip from when Ethan escaped in the last chapter, to when Howzer and the girl forced their way to see Dallgun. Cause right after that, the SEED women with Ethan happens, then Guardians Colony crashes into Parum.

But if Ethan escaped, and got new clothes, all of episode 2 had to happen between chapter 5 and 6.

But I was under the whole comic was between episode 1 and 2.

Blaaargh confusing

Is white and blue the official GUARDIANS combat colors? Those three Guardsmen were wearing variations of white and blue ... AND THEY ALL HAD MECHGUNS! Machinegun, Beam Vulcan, and Muzzlefever specifically ... Too bad the three of them didn't stand a chance against an entire squad of AMF soldiers, though I find it funny the guy who didn't get shot up immediately is the one with the pea shooter for a gun ... and wow, is it big on him.

Those AMF dropships are pretty cool, too.

A little unexpected... Well, up to the end of chapter 5, I believe the moving comic is a prologue to Episode 2, but... Considering that Chapter 6 (last) is the Guardian's Colony drop, which is supposed to be near the end of Episode 2 and also that the end credits was English. I guess... The Moving Comic was merely an Episode 3 booster and also a prologue to Episode 2. Kinda confusing, but I still believe the "Phantom of Arkguard" moving comic is great!!!

The moving comic time line starts with the end of Episode 1 and then starts running concurrently to Episode 2(or "behind" Ep2 would be a literal translation.)

Then again, there might have been a time skip before that scene as well.

I think that everything after ethan getting his new clothes takes place after episode 2. because he seems to go straight to the landeel in the gaurdians colony after trying to kill Dallgun. In ep 2 ch 1 he has already attempted to kill Dalgun.
so it goes like this:

PSU --> PoA(1-5.5) --> EP2(1-9)/AOI --> EP2(10)/AOI/PoA(5.5-6) --> EP3?

(remind me some one, what was the point of episode 2 besides adding a new character. It all seemed like filler to me [except the last chapter of course])

Chapter 6: Prologue of Destruction

LEO: What is this?

LOU: There are so many of them...

DALLGUN: Howzer...

HOWZER: It's been a while... President Dallgun.

DALLGUN: Why did you bring the AMF with you?

HOWZER: I come bearing a message from

HOWZER: representative Rudolph Lantz of the Illuminus.

DALLGUN: Lantz?

HOWZER: We realized long ago that

HOWZER: these lies you preach as "racial equality"

HOWZER: to the public are doing nothing more than

HOWZER: bringing harm to the GUARDIANS.

DALLGUN: Is that a warning?

HOWZER: No...

HOWZER: It's a declaration of war!!

HOWZER: Hahaha...

HOWZER: As we speak, AMF troops are boarding the Colony

HOWZER: to annihilate the GUARDIANS.

HOWZER: Just a little something we like to call "progress."

DALLGUN: You control the AMF now?

HOWZER: Not only that...

DALLGUN: !

DALLGUN: Nav?

DALLGUN: Aaaah!!

HOWZER: Hahaha... Oh, Dallgun.

HOWZER: How sad to be betrayed by an old friend...

GUARDS: !

LOU: They have already begun to attack this location.

LUMIA: Where should be go?

LOU: We shall go this way.

LOU: !

LUMIA: Aah!!

LUMIA: Lou!! Lou!!

LOU: ...hurry... run away...

LUMIA: !

LUMIA: Aaaaah!!

LUMIA: !

LUMIA: Brother!

ETHAN: It's dangerous here; you've got to get out!

LUMIA: I know... but, what about Lou...?

ETHAN: Lou... thank you.

LUMIA: Lou...

ETHAN: !

ILLUMINUS GUARD: Ethan...

ILLUMINUS GUARD: I've been looking for you.

ETHAN: What do you want with me?

ILLUMINUS GUARD: Hahaha...

ILLUMINUS GUARD: I figured you'd come to your sister's rescue.

ETHAN: You're here for Lumia, aren't you?

ILLUMINUS GUARD: If we take that girl hostage

ILLUMINUS GUARD: even Olson will do as we say.

ILLUMINUS GUARD: Ethan...

ILLUMINUS GUARD: You failed to assassinate Dallgun.

ILLUMINUS GUARD: You are not fit to be the successor of the Arkguard.

ILLUMINUS GUARD: For defying the Illuminus...

ILLUMINUS GUARD: You will die!!

ETHAN: Gah! ... Are you... SEED...!?

SEED-LADY: Hahaha...

SEED-LADY: Yes. I sacrificed my body and mind to Howzer

SEED-LADY: to have the SEED fused within myself.

SEED-LADY: I did it for Howzer, so I have no regrets.

ETHAN: You gave up your life... to become part of the SEED...?

ETHAN: That's... that ridiculous!

ETHAN: What is Howzer trying to do...?

SEED-LADY: Even your father knew Howzer's secrets. But look where that go him.

SEED-LADY: Imprisoned! Do you really want to end up like that?

ETHAN: I'm not gonna be one of your lackeys!

SEED-LADY: Well, then, how long can you keep that kind of courage up?

ETHAN: Ugh...!

SEED-LADY: You should join us.

ETHAN: What!?

SEED-LADY: It's simple... Just let me give you something.

ETHAN: No, stop!!

SEED-LADY: !

LUMIA: Get away from my brother!

ETHAN: Haaa!!

SEED-LADY: Gaaah!!

SEED-LADY: H... How... zer...

LUMIA: Brother!

ETHAN: Lumia!

ETHAN: Thank you.

ETHAN: I came to save you, but you ended up saving me...

LUMIA: I thought I'd never see you again...

ETHAN: Where did you learn to use a gun?

LUMIA: Leo said only to use one in an emergency...

ETHAN: Ah... Well, come on. It's dangerous; let's get out of here.

LUMIA: OK.

SHIP CAPTAIN: The Colony's power sources are failing.

SHIP CAPTAIN: Soon it will leave its orbit

SHIP CAPTAIN: and begin to fall toward Parum.

SHIP CAPTAIN: The residential block has separated from the Colony.

SHIP CAPTAIN: Shall we attack, sir?

HOWZER: They're harmless to us; let them go.

HOWZER: This is the end of the GUARDIANS.

HOWZER: Dallgun...

HOWZER: Going down with your ship...

HOWZER: Hahahahahaha...

ETHAN: The Colony's falling...

ETHAN: The Illuminus... I'll take them down, no matter what.

LUMIA: I'm going to fight, too...

That girl (the one wich tried to kiss Ethan in one of final scenes) reminds me of Rei Anayami from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Thought they had VASTLY different personalities (this girl is sort of... malicious) they look very similar- Blue hair, sort of red eyes and fact that they aren't 100% human.

If that blue haired cyber-punk-ish gothic lolita Illuminas agent's clothing was available in AoI Id so make my alternate character Nei Fourth a full-fledged kick-ass Gothic-Punk Vigilante against the Illuminas (kind of like a BatGirl). Beacuase I really want those boots for my alternate character Nei Fourth. I pray* they get added in as buyable clothing in the near future.

The final chapter was awesome, major inference to the Gaira Space Station crashing in Palma in Ps II... except Parum didn't blow up...
