From a long-time fan...

Fire them. Fire them all, and fire them now. Fire everyone responsible: the "designers" who concocted this ugliness, and the management that allowed the project to move forward. Also, fire whomever didn't cut the budget when they saw this thing in development, and knew that they should, but were too afraid.

Ouch! I agree, this one's feeling much less inspired than before. And somehow, in the meantime, I'm starting to dig the airplane intake grille.

I have one other complaint about Subaru: they always make their cars too small. I can't fit comfortably in an Outback or a Legacy, let alone an Impreza... It's quite sad, because I find the Subaru cars fantastic otherwise.

Yeah, I'll admit to not being a "car person," per se, but I agree with Adam. What's so much uglier about the car you linked to than, say, 90% of the other cars you see drive by every day? Just looks like an other typical modern sedan to me.

Well, that's why I titled my open letter, "Dear Subaru" and not, "Dear Automotive Industry". At least for the last 10 years or so, Subaru isn't supposed to be about making the "typical modern sedan".

Well done Subaru, for killing the Impreza.

Now it just looks like a boring sedan, rather than the mean-looking sports saloon (except the 2001 (or 2002, I forget) model, that thing was just ugly)..

That 2008 model just looks like the designers really couldn't be arsed with making a car that'd stand out- which is what the older Imprezas were all about.

For the truth! The Scion line is the bastard child line of Toyota. Especially the Bx. Looks like a freaking shoebox with windows.

I will say that the new Subaru is far more boring than the old WRX. The WRX didn't have class, but it certainly was easily recognizable and had a certain style to it. The new one is, indeed, yet another sedan.

And I also agree. Scion are so... Ugly. Now, other auto designers have copied that "boxy" style and improved upon it, making nice car designs (unless it's the Honda Element, then it's ugly).

The first concept car looks like a cartoon vehicle smiling at me O_o
