I've noticed that when i don't have a weapon equipped i cast techniques a LOT faster. my question is, wouldn't it be just smarter for forces to have no weapon equipped?

In C-mode, yes, and if you're lacking in equipment in the standard game or BA-mode. There are certain weapons that will boost the power of certain spells. For example, a Club of Laconium will boost the power of Foie by roughly 30%. If you do more damage you use less TP since you can kill critters faster. If you use less TP then you can cast more spells before having to down fluids. However, the speed boost only effects the FOnewm as far as I know. I've played FOmarls and FOnewearls and know they actually cast slower without weapons (imo). I can't vouch for a FOmar though, as I haven't played one of them yet.

i have the club of laconium, and i am a FOmar. the speed is there w/o it. but i'd rather be doing 343 damage on VHard against a Evil Shark, instead of around 260. but i meant c-mode kinda too.

On V1 and 2, I never noticed much of a difference from unequipping my weapon with my FOnewearl... With my FOmar on Episode 1&2 however, it's a MAJOR difference, and one large enough for me to even go with using my elemental canes/staves/rods some of the time.
Try goin' nuts with gizonde. ZOWIE! BAM! ZING! Extremely fast and effective.

It never occured to me that it could be a class thing, though. I'll have to try it with my FOnewearl again, but I'm pretty sure she had signicantly faster spells unarmed in C mode the other night...

i usually equip a wep with my force either to boost one type of tech or either to boost me mst. and with my force it doesn't seem to slow him down that much at all.

fomars are way faster without weapons. if i were going to use a weapon that doesnt boost mst or boost a technique, then i am better off without a weapon. i am just wondering if i can keep the attack speed of my techs with an angry fist equiped. it may be a glitch in the animation for fomars. any fomars with 610 atp and and angry fist can try it and see.

if it works thats the ultimate melee fomar exploitation, crazy atp and tech speed! i'm silly like that.

Huh, good idea! I'm gonna try that. Maybe I'll highjack my HUcaseal's mag for a while and equip one of my (many) Angry Fists. That'd be pretty sweet.

And far as MST boosts, most weapons boost MST so slightly that it just doesn't justify lugging around a weapon I don't use. Tech boosts, on the other hand, are extremely important to me and I use them most of the time in Ultimate mode and always while fighting a boss.

Weaponless is my style of choice on VH and lower, during most of Ultimate forest, and generally whenever I don't need an extra boost of horse power.
