ya we seem to scrabble for drops and nibble on them if they taste satisfying! But we always search and collect for more drops and spiffies and make us go "meww" and "weeble!" X3

but ya anyone here like so obsessed with collecting drops?

and if not, what drives you in PSU? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/burger.gif

Looking for drops with buddies? Thats even cooler.

Well if you look at it that way, i guess you could say that we are.

Simply put what drives me to PSU, well i guess it would have to be the player relationships just off that first spark meeting, and getting to higher levels is always fun to

Meh... well I've been looking for a Har-Quick 14 hours straight with a friend and only got a Kohuta-Senba[B], Sorri-Senba[B] and a Lidra[B]....

The cheese ain't coming for this moose:)

Yes... I like hunting rars if thats what you mean... but partying is cool to. The problem is the rares on this game are so rare that a lot of people turn into A-holes... an example the other day me and my friend were playing our mains... and anyway we were just done killing Dulk Fakis(S2) and we died.... there were three people there. Two ran straight for the rares rather than 'bring us back'... one started to help us but ran off when they saw the other. Only when they were good and done looking for the rares(which did not drop) did they moon us. My point is a lot of ppl are way too gredy on this game. I like getting drops but would never pull a stunt like that and try not to party with ppl that would/do. Therefore I spend a lot of time with a rather small circle of friends I can REALLY trust. The thing is I cannot remmember it being like that on PSO.

Maybe in AOI it weill change.

I love when i can hunt for an item thats easy to get and sells for a ton! its awesome cuz at first u think "This is so easy its not gonna work" and BAM the junk sells like candy!

lol its awesome when u know stuff otehrs dont XD

like with the 50% trick, at the time we found out no one else knew, but we did it with grinders and my friends would make like 50 grinder B+10's and get rich in a day XD

Most definitely don't play for drops, though I've done it on occasion. What motivates me is the fun I have playing; if the game were not fun it'd be gathering dust in a drawer, like Halo 2 or GoW are.

I've been obsessing over S ranks for too long. Now that I got an S rank of my favorite weapon type and an S rank of my favorite element, I think I'm going to work with other things until ST decides to ease up on the rarity of these.

oh yeah... after they picked up the boxes.Nothing dropped noteworthy.

Sadly, one NICE person in the group rushed over to moon us just before Dulk Falkis(final form) went down.... and as soon as they did and they saw the others running in the dirction of the boxes... they doubled back and made a beeline to the boxes also.

Really... the rarity of items in this game is what is causing so many locked groups... I will only party with ppl I trust on rare runs. Thats why I like my lowbie's so much as nothing I want drops really so I don't care. And what fun the game is to play when you don't really care and do it for the party and online experience. finding good rares is also still pretty cool though! One day all this game will be gone, all the S ranks forgotten. But hopefully those I partyed and trusted with will still be around and we'll be kicking it on the next PS game.

Funny, one could say that rares were the backbone of PSO, what made it live. Now it can be said that it's the game's downfall.

Thing is, there were more common 'rares' in PSO. You had stupidly common things, that ended up being more of a curse, then things like Chain Sawd which may have dropped once every few runs if you were lucky. Then you had the really high-end rare items, things like Psycho Wand, Yasha, Evil Curst, Prophets of Motav. The virtually unobtainable ones everyone hunted for.

When you played PSO though, you wouldn't be surprised to find the odd rare item on the way along your hunts.

On PSU, as soon as it even becomes an A-Rank drop (nevermind S-Ranks) it becomes stupidly rare. There's not even any real point (other than monetary) to A-Rank drops- its far easier to synth/buy your own, rather than hunt it. S-Rank boards are in a league of their own. There is NO middle-ground, nothing that players can shoot for without it being a huge waste of time http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

I think if PSU had more rares to hunt, some with droprates more like PSO's middlerange rares (Chain Sawd, Monkey King Bar etc), people might have enjoyed it more.

I went a 3 month gap between S-Rank drops, playing almost every night. It gets kinda boring when you're not gettin anything except ores/hard materials I guess. Some slightly easier S-Rank drops (or even unique A-Ranks) would balance the game out more, rather than it going from common drops to uber-rare with nothing between.

Is there really anything to do in PSU besides being material?

I could understand if the population were larger and you could just freely hunt wherever and whenever you want, but there's not really that much in PSU besides rare hunting right now. Story missions are single player only, and what do you do when you hit the level max? There's not really a large number of new areas to explore, and like I said, it's hard to be social outside of talking on the 4th floor of Guardians or repeating HSM (at least on PC/PS2). Of course then the game starts to drag because the big deal is rare hunting, and yet no rares ever drop. It's like Uriko said, there aren't really common rare drops, so instead of going out with friends for fun trying to find that special item, it's more the same grind over and over for the sake of grinding, and just maybe you'll get something out of it on the side someday. Friends makes hunting better, but you can only ask people to do the same handful of missions a few thousand times before you get bored of it. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Hopefully AoI will introduce some new purpose in this game, I'm just not able to get back into it right now.

I need to make more friends.

Why did I choose the internet? Because those who wish to hurt you can't-they're too stupid. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Drops are cool and all, but only if I need them or they have gold stars.

PSU can help you make friends easy, but it's good friends on PSU that are hard to find. (Thank God I've found a few here and there)

EDIT: I realized that post was FKL material. Made it more PSU-generated and built off the topic.

my main is always poor cuz all i do is S rank hunt since mad beasts first came out. how about NOT EVEN SEEING ONE till de ragnus S2 came out!? do u know how frusterating it is to do probably hundreds of runs for months and get NOTHING? T_T

Like i said before many times now 6 weeks with my friend at groove of the fanatics every single day and not getting a single board is insane.

When u make a game that when u progress through it that the rares are basically what make the game, HOW DO U MAKE THEM THAT RARE!?

oh and then u get the people who find like 1 a week and its just sick.(end rant)

indeed Sega needs to increase the drop reates so that it is actualy posible to get the rares. It's like every time you go rare hunting its like trying to hunt for a sealed J sword on pso for almost every rare. (and that even goes for some A rank weapons)

And for rare hunting in PSO you were actualy able to find common rares like the DB's saber, the Vartista, or Custome Ray. Like by lv 80 in PSO you could have at least 5 to 6 rares in your wepons/armor pallet and like 10-20 other random rares in your bank. In PSO you'd actuality find something about 2 to 3 times a week even if it was just a photon drop, enemy part, or just a common rare, and if you were grinding a map for that certain special rare you'd know you would be able to get it within a couple weeks of hard grinding and not 3 months.

Mouse? Ha, as if!

Some boys kiss me, some boys hug me
I think they're O.K.
If they don't give me proper credit
I just walk away

They can beg and they can plead
But they can't see the light, that's right
'Cause the boy with the cold hard cash
Is always Mister Right, 'cause we are

Living in a material world
And I am a material girl
You know that we are living in a material world
And I am a material girl

Um, anyways... I am interested in getting a rare, but I'm not going to bust my butt trying to get one. Like someone told me yesterday, friends are the real rares. That's what drives me to play PSU. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

There are mid-range rare items, rare units mostly... kubara stuff like Vahra Claws, Degahna Cannon, Crea weapons. They've got stupidly low drop rates too, but you can do the missions a lot faster lol. Of course, then you don't earn much for money and end up swamped with crap materials you can't make A-rank weapons with, and when something interesting DOES drop you can take the time and think what that armor board would have been in an S2 mission :/

EDIT: recently I've made a project out of grinding various cheap weapons to +10, to beat the "cant even find stupid B-rank rares" blues. Did Gigushes, did Brahohs, did B-rank Yohmei knuckle and rifle, got a 9* axe just on pure luck... I'm doing a shop Rapier next. At least it feels like you're going somewhere with it sometimes.

Yeah, but even those are real rare. There's still no middleground. Crea weapons are kinda common I guess, but are all only usable by Human/Newman. It's still not enough. The rare units are just as hard to find as S-Ranks half the time too.

I don't care- i'll still play PSU until I cap at 200 and get bored, or until my friends stop playing, whichever comes first. It'd just be nice to find something noteworthy now and again, instead of sitting on a goldmine of Kerseline. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Every time I get Kubara Wood it's like finding a tiny piece of a rare weapon

EDIT: that's just a color swap of some regular weapon
EDIT2: and will probably synth as a monomate
EDIT3: and then I've gotta make like 20 before I might possibly get one grinded to +10 so its worth something
