View Full Version : will Vanilla PSU players see what AOI players are wearing?

yeah I think so cause in other online rpgs like ff11, expansions add like new jobs and gear and people without the expansion can see and party with them. they just can't access the new expansion areas.

All I can say is, wait and see.

For PC and Xblock, maybe.

For PS2, it will most likely just show up as the generic starting clothes.

EDIT: WTF? Where's the hamburger?

It would be in Sega's business interests to let everyone see the new stuff to ignite jealous flames causing "vanilla" players (and I hate calling it vanilla) to zerg rush to store to buy AOI.

My personal opinion, of course.

Even if you wouldn't be able to see people wearing AOI clothing, I think seeing the message, "You are not allowed to access this area" when being in a party, then being kicked out because you don't have AOI would be enough to make you rush to the store to pick up a copy http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Im sorry, but i am ignorant and don't know what a "vanilla" player is. Are they different than "chocolate" players? Are the "vanilla" players better than the "chocolate" player? Damn racism

No, no. Chocolate players are better than vanilla players. You've got it all backwards. Perhaps you're the racist?

This raises an interesting point. It'll be rather interesting, I think. For PSU(1) players, will AoI players be so cool that they can't even see them?

im pretty sure when new thigns are relased there will be updates for the old version so that they cna see us with them but cant access them.

Zorafim
Sep 19, 2007, 05:41 PM
That doesn't make any sense for PS2 players, since we can't download things.

Heh, it'd be rather interesting if new clothing styles showed up to PSUers as glowing blue photons or detail-less clothing, like unloaded character models do for us now. Makes me wonder...

Not by downloading things.

Zorafim
Sep 19, 2007, 05:46 PM
Huh? No. That's just silly. Where are you getting these things?

Why can't people just refer to them as "Non-AoI"?
I feel weird calling people flavors.

Levia, you're a grapefruit.

Damn, I'm sour. However, I help remove cholesterol and lose weight.

Still, I'm overshadowed by oranges...

I'm not an orange. I'm a seductive blueberry.

Maybe they'll just run around in their underwear, then the peeps without AoI'll be like "WTF!? Why the hell is everyone in their underwear?!"

i belive they will get tha 'content' in an update when its released (for visual purposes); but you must PURCHASE the content in order to be able to equip/trade/buy any new stuff.

They'll prolly run in default clothes, isn't this how ST did it back when they added new stuff in PSOv2?

I can tell you what they're wearing when AoI is out.

Those ugly, stupid long coats!

well if i remember right back in the version 1 and 2 days on dreamcast you could see what the other people had but that was just weapons and armor. but with all the new content psu has to offer it might be a whole new ball game.

"Vanilla" is for some reason used to indicate plain and mundane, or it seems these days it simply means unmodified. An example of plain: Ever play Morrowind or Oblivion without mods? Those are considered "vanilla" Morrowind or Oblivion because they don't have any mods.

By the way, you're all fruits. XD

Almost everything except the graphics and offline junk is handled on the server, meaning they can change around any data. Haven't you ever wondered how they "rebalanced" missions? The enemy spawns and whatnot are coming from the server.

Almost. A lot of things are handled by the client, as far as collision detection goes, the client gives the yes or no to the server, and for just attack, a small 'note' was downloaded to PS2 servers just telling the game to make note when a button is pressed and send either "Player succeeded in JA" or "Player had wrong timing, normal attack data please"

Weapons, items, droprates, map layouts, enemy stats, player stats, PA stats, PA animations, and so on, can be changed without any file download. Part of the reason weapons need to be 'loaded' is because the program is calling for the weapon stat data from the server, as well as the graphic off the disk/harddrive.

It'll be nice to see some additional optimization for the PC and Xbox360 versions if they go to the effort, because the PS2's limitations also hinder the other two versions in some ways.

For PS2 you'll probably just show up in your underwear to other players, how embarrassing!

ZOMG a Saner thread without http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/burger.gif

I think that players without the expansion would see a type of default model. In pso, v1 players would see v2 items as default models that looked similar to this.

default model?

we can costomize too much to have a 'default' model.

even w/ no clothes; you still gotta pick out tha underclothing stuffies. (w/e)
