AotI: Iluminus Time Share

Thanks to a friend in Japan, I managed to pick up an extra AoI key for dirt cheap. So, for those who want to take a look personally without forking over $50 + shipping. This includes trying out the just attack system, seeing the exp changes first hand, the new enemies, weapons, missions.

I'll provide a tour and mild instruction on different things to those who want it. There will be 1 million meseta on the account for purchasing different AoI weapons and/or casino tokens. I may or may not set up a male and female character with 10 of the basic jobs so players can try out acrofighter/techer, that'll depend on demand.

To avoid any potential problems, anyone who wants to request a time slot (3 hours maximum until I see how many are interested) needs to have at least 1000 posts on the forum, or have a reference from one of the moderators or heavy contributors. This is mainly to prevent anyone from running off with the account.

Time slots will start on the 5th of october (first friday), hopefully that will give enough time for the servers to stabilize and/or become debugged. Wednesday might be a possibility, but not open for signing up for right now.

If anyone can help me set up a torrent (I lack a server) then I can torrent the cd. The offline story isn't really open, but you can spend some or all of the 3 hour slot on it if you want. Offline story requires logging in to Sega's servers unless they change it for illuminus (doubtful). Failing that, I'll upload the cd somewhere and make it available this coming friday for those who have signed up.

Its completely optional. Consider this a free preview, with an optional guide. If you want, you can just do whatever and look around, I just thought I'd offer it so people wouldn't get completely lost, or want to get a sample of everything. Not everyone wants to pay $70 just to see something for a little bit in anticipation. This lets people try it out with all the new changes and get an idea of what to expect firsthand, instead of just from hearsay.

The interesting thing about the Japanese client, is that on PC, to even play the offline story, you need to log in to an account. Not to mention, for PSU, sega themselves allowed the program to be downloaded due to high demand creating a shortage in copies of the PC version, along with a glitch with some of Dell's DVD drives. The link to the file won't be public, and is pretty much just going to change computers every 3 hours or so depending, with only one person signed in at a time.

I've updated the main post with people who have specified times, for day ranges I haven't written you in anywhere yet.

As far as offline goes, PSU requires an account with a network key in order to play the offline story, as it incorperates serverside saving for single player as well (convenient imo), so it'd still be limited to one person at a time. I'm assuming AoI will be the same, but won't know for sure. Story mode can be arranged a bit later, as I assume not everyone wants to play a story in a language that they don't understand.

As long as you're not a person who has to have the best gear, the game is pretty friendly. Most 10 star S ranks are only around 1 mil or so, and synthesis element %s are stabilizing around 20-30%

For now this is mainly just a sampling, I'll consider longer blocks of time depending on how this goes and those who want it. But thanks for the bump at least.

Theres some setup quirks, and I haven't used vista so I wouldn't know what to do very well outside of the instructions provided on the PSUJP website. I wouldn't mind. If you don't mind waiting, it'll probably make more sense to do it sometime later than next weekend in case we run into issues though.

A little off topic, but anyone have a ballpark figure of how much HDD space AoI uses? I don't exactly trust Sega's figures, because they claim psu needs 9g when it only actualy used 4 gigs

Illuminus takes up 4.95 gigs on my computer, but sega also states it requires 9 gigs. However, my illuminus screenshot folder is already nearly 2 gigs, so maybe thats where they're getting the extra gig from (go go bmp files)

I'm trying to figure out a way to torrent it early, but if nothing comes up by wednesday I'll upload it somewhere in 200mb parts (25 parts, eww) After that, I provide account info 5 minutes earlier than the time you signed up (IM is great, otherwise watch your inbox) and let you know when its ok to Log in. From there, you create a character or use a pre-made one, and off it goes for 3 hours or so, then the next person gets a go at it.

If there is only 1 or two seeders and 5 Peers, the speed will go fine. But if you have 1-2 seeders and 10 or more peers? It will go painfully slow.

This isn't an episode of Heroes where there are thousands of seeders. We need as much seeders as we can get right now, or else most of the people can't get the file in time for installation!

It should be better now that I've started cleaning out the extra people on the torrent, so all my bandwidth goes to those who gave me the necessary info.

Had over 13 addtional people on the list that were leeching (more than who are even signed up) so the speed went to crap. Problem is solved, so things should go a bit smoother now.

I can either keep in touch via IM if people prefer (and for some I will already) or I'll send a PM on the forums 5-10 minutes before starting time with the necessary info. Then it will be a matter of not logging in until the clock hits the time, as it wouldn't be too nice to kick someone off if they're asking questions at the end or just wrapping up. As far as preperations, check through the options, I assume most of you have played PSU on the computer, so you have some idea of what the settings are. The only new things added are shadow maps (Realistic shadow shapes instead of circles), which can be somewhat taxing on lower end systems. If you're unsure, I'd say change the resolution, increase the color to max, and that should be it.

The game will install without a key, and no fancy copyright protection. Its pretty much a standard setup, next next next, insert disk 2, next next done. If you run into problems (Setting up IME is occasionally required, and thats in the control panel , language options) feel free to send me a PM and I'll give some better instructions.

Offline mode requires the account anyway, and based on the way its setup, you'll just spend most of your time trudging through the episode 2 story missions, as the majority of stuff isn't unlocked out of the bag.

I'd like to add, that your joystick/keyboard layout needs to be redone before you log in. I ran into this issue during the beta when I did a similar sort of time share thing. like 80% of people forgot to do this. You can simply go to your PC version and copy all the buttons down and then recreate them on the JP version. Its the same order for everything (atleast for joystick, for keyboard theres a few things added that may throw it off).

Utorrent makes a "Downloads" folder in My Documents.

Don't forget, you need to burn the two ISOs onto TWO blank DVDs.

Once that's done, place the DVD back in, install, then insert DVD 2, install.

Alright, everythng seems about ready. Heres the basic rundown of how things will go if they were to go smoothly.
If you'd rather recieve an IM instead of refreshing the PSOW PM inbox near your time, let me know (assuming I haven't added you already) and I'll send the info that way instead.
10-15 minutes before your time slot, I'll send username and password. When your time slot starts, go ahead and log in, using world 1 as the option. (Its the top one when you come to two choices with numbers 1 and 2)
There is a wartecher made available (Trying to get him up to whip using level after this post) for those who requested it. He's in the top slot with the name "shoshinsha san"
If you want to create your own character choose any of the other 3 slots, and choose the bottom option. It will then go through the assumably familiar character creation screen. Please try not to take more than 20 minutes with the character creation as it'll start cutting into tour time (Unless you're only interested in seeing very specific things)
Once you've logged in with the character, head to beginner 1 (The very first universe) at the central table. From there I'll send out a party invite.

Tour will go like this:
Clyez City clothes/parts and lumilass shops (15-20 minutes)
Pick up any PAs you might want (5-10 minutes)
We will head to Neudaiz's new mission first, where the lobby system will be explained a bit.
Will do the mission, letting you get a feel for monsters, just attack, but still moving along at a decent pace.
Next planet will be Parum, starting with metro linear and eventually ending at the beach.
After a break at the beach (for any questions, etc) its then to moatoob, where the tour will end in a grand figth with de ro le and some fun at the casino. (10 copper spending limit so others can try out things too, please)
If the My Room servers remain somewhat useable, then there will be an additional show of how the new systems work
If you're interested in using slicers and whips, currently the only option is the premade character (requires level 25ish to have the ATP) but shadoogs, madoogs both have C versions that can be equipped early on.

Other than that, feel free to ask questions along the way or whatnot.

Personally I use Azerus as it gives me a lot more useability, but utorrent is probably the best for people who just download a torrent and wait.

Remind me at the tour time that you only want to see those things and thats what we'll do.

Seeding is sending it to other users, downloading it is all you need to do. Download the Mount as an image, or burn to DVD and install.

I use Azureus as well, I recommend it to anyone.
