I know that they probably get the release date from the same source as everyone else...

But maybe, as it's in 2008(a few months LATER then other sources) maybe they have privy information. I mean obviously they have a working relationship with Sega.

I hear rumours that the cup event is happening now as a way to 'pad' out the game until the release of AoI.... just speculation:) I just thought it was interesting that AFAIK they're the ONLY major source to have this PARTICULAR date and so happen to be the sponsors of the cup.

That's definitely a place-holder date, and nothing to take seriously.

"Official sponsors" don't work for Sega, so I will not be taking 1-up's word for it.

Doubtful. January 1st is often the placeholder date for a title that doesn't have an official date yet. Just check the ebgames site and see how many titles are listed for 1/1/08.

Well, thing is we're going to have this event into November. So as this event ends, AoI should be released(24th November?).

However, the GM's said we were ALSO going to get the Festa event. Now I know theres NO reson as to why this cannot happen on AoI.

But id it does'nt then the extra weeks of the Festa event would pad it out 'nicely'(LOL) for a 2008 release.

I really hope not as well, but I saw this date on the 1up site and given their(now known) business relation with Sega.... my tiny little mind started thinking:)

i took it as the gm's said we would get a"cool event in october, and then another shortly after aoi's launch, i could be mistaken though

It's already been stated by GMs that "vanilla" PSU events can bleed into AoI time. I think we're all but a lock for November in the U.S.

Well, I sure hope it is November. If it is then I also wonder why the official sponsors have that date? I thought they of all people being the sponsors would have (the most accurate) date.

The "official sponsors" haven't even mentioned this event on their own site. That should say something. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Just because they spondered an event or two doesn't give them magical insight to the release date. All they have to do is give some money and suggestions for an item or two. They have nothing tp do w/ AOI's release. Take a closer look at the last date those were added.

I agree. I doubt it means anything.

I've been reading these forums for years and this was the first thread that actually compelled me to make a forums account...

Honestly, before a wave of mass panic starts, did the OP actually even bother to read one of the latest announcements on the OFFICIAL PSU website? In the"Ambitions of Illuminus Battle Systems" announcement, Sega clearly states that AoI will be released "later this year." That doesn't sound like early next year to me.

Go to http://phantasystaruniverse.com/illuminus_battlesystems.php in order to view the article.

i read the first post and am now jumping to conclusions...

if it is 1/1/2008, i will probably lose interest because of all the hype and speculation and waiting till 11/21/07' was hard enough i think i will die, it's just too much.

.............. please erase this thread, i wanna go into denial.

I've been off PSU long enough to not care if AoI is delayed until 2008. Besides, with 1-UP Cup and my small, yet growing library of Xbox 360 games I think i'll make it for the expansions release.

Absolutely.

However, I'm more interested in the reason for ones return rather than their reason for leaving. Those are always fun to read.

January 1 is too generic of a placeholder date. It's also a fairly weird time to release a game, I don't recall many popular games being released on New Years...

New Years is probably the worst time of year to release a game, or anything for that matter. Everyones money has already been used up on beer, presents for themselves, and a few cards for their family and friends. I wouldn't know about any of those things though, I don't care much for holidays. I didn't even know it was my birthday earlier this month until a family member called me and told me Happy Birthday. Heh.

no one listens to my post about the newest Xbox magazine stating the release for nov. 20th?
