GC: Salvation Army: check first post for info. (5/10/03)

Do you have weapons you've worn out? Do you have weapons your characters can't use? Have tons of 9* weapons you never use? As a good gesture, would you be willing to give up your useless weapons to other players for nothing in return? Are you a new player that needs some basic, solid rares? If so, this is your thread.

In this thread, players can list items they are willing to hand out for nothing in return, mainly to help out new players. It's up to the person offering the items to decide who gets what. Please, no bickering about who posted deserves the item. Please, don't be greedy either.

So list what you'd be willing hand out, and we'll start setting up meeting times. Anything with a line through it has been reserved.

I would prefer it if people worked with each other to exchange items. I wouldn't be terribly comfortable holding all the items for this, and I'm not sure how comfortable people would be with giving me items for this. But if people are trusting enough, I do have an open character slot on my memory card to hold up to 200 items.

I ran into Darcon and 9er tonight and they received what they asked for. I'm still holding things for FH_PhoenixFlame, Smash, and Angelz0r.

I was surprised at how many people stopped in my game tonight to donate items. Although I'm not very comfortable with holding items for everyone, the amount of donations I received tonight forced me to make a character specifically for holding items. Before anyone donated, I made sure they knew whatever they gave me has a very small chance of being returned to them. After I said that, people were still willing to help out by donating.

I will be updating the list in the first post to match what I currently have on my holding character, (pixelate), whenever I give out items or receive items. I will also be separating the items based on who donated what; that way the generous donators can get credit. The names will be by character names I met in the game, not PSOW ones.

Seriously, you all rock!

[One quick note. I appreciate the generosity everyone's showing, but please keep donations to rares. I don't mind Materials, Grinders, or Amps; things like ???? Dagger +1 or Stick +3 are pretty easy for players to find on their own.]

I have a suggestion about the Salvation Army thing. Why don't you set up an official date/time for people to come and share stuff like the Challenge Mode/Battle Mode/Soccer Game. It wouldn't have to be once a week, but more like once a month when people have stocked up on rares and are willing to donate what they don't want.

Sorry, not during the weekday morning (at work). I'm Central time, could make it difficult for me and you meet late or early. My best times are from 4:00pm PST to 8:00pm PST (weekdays) and 9:00am to 10:00pm PST (weekends). I prefer you to pick the time because I play the game sporadically within my times listed. If you name the time then I can do my 99.99% best to be there.

I was thinking about that, too. Sometime Saturday nights seems reasonable. The chair race/soccer game is at 9, so 8 or 10 PM PST?

If you do it before the soccer/chair races, people might just go off and play instead of Soccer/Chair races, so you might have less people to play.

You could always take one item and use it as a "Trophy" (Some Rare Item) that the team can use until next week's game. If they lose, they have to fork over the rare to the new winning team. Just something to do with the extra rares...

You might do the same thing for the chair races. Inviting new players to participate in these events, so that winners get a rare might garner more people at the events.

Of course this would have to be on items which no one has claimed. And I got 5 Flowen's Swords, so I could donate a couple to the Prize gallery.

I'm glad you're giving ideas. I'm open to any suggestions people have.

The Salvation Army thing is pretty new here. I'd like to get it settled in with a routine before adding anything a little complicated to it. Once I have an idea of the amount of donations that come in and the amount of items I give out after a few weeks, I'll see what we can come up with for prizes and such.

As i don't trade because of the whole duping thing my store rooms are over-flowing i have already filled up 2 storage characters as well as my main character and i don't want it to slip to a fourth character so i'm willing to let some of it go. I have amassed a great number of some of these i don't just have 1 of each unless noted. Can also get the slicers but as i'm plagued with these i don't bother to store them as i can get them so readily.

eRUPT is in the process of coding an entry form for the Salvation Army so I don't have to hand type and format all the donations and recieved items. Once that's done, I'll think about your suggestion. The reason I need the entry form completed first is because whoever ends up helping me out with EST times, will need access to it in order to update the list.

I'm not so much worried about holding characters; I'm worried about meeting times. My Spring semester of college started last week, so meeting with EST people is going to be even harder for me from now on. I'll love any help with EST people, but I need everything to be in order first.

Please read the other posts in this thread. Sometimes people will try to reserve items that other people already reserved in previous posts. I reserve items based on the first post I see.
