Okay, everytime I ask people what classes get the whips, I get mixed answers. Some say only WT and GT, some say AT and fT... Can someone tell me the sure answer, please? (I'm referring to online mode only.)

For clarification, this is because the classes that can equip it have changed over time.

Right now, in the final version of the game, its Wartecher, Fortecher, Acrotecher ONLY.

But in the beta version of the game, Guntecher could equip them aswell. But guntecher ended up losing whips and gaining shadoogs. They also reworked shadoogs quite a bit, and overhauled Acrotechers and Acrofighters. Its caused quite a bit of confusion http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

Sadly, no Belmont or Indiana Jones jobs have been introduced, so the addition of whips is pointless.

I have a quick question about Whips. They inflict SEs right? Every video I seen shows Whip inflicting some other type of SE on enemies. Does it vary on type or on PA?

lol huh o.0
Sounds strange to me.. but kinda, it wouldn't be actually that bad to virus mobs.lol

It varies from whip to whip actually, regardless of element.
Pretty weird if you ask me but... eh, that's how they did it...
Then again, it is kinda like Jogiri... so I guess it's not all that
different... but it's welcome all the same. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Oh! I'm fairly sure this is up to date, should answer any
other class questions.

The status varies from whip to whip, the same way the status on each S rank varies from weapon to weapon. Each whip tends to be a particular element, though, from what I've seen.

The 7* whip is forced Earth or Lightning. Earth = Silence, Lightning = Shock
The 8* whip is forced Dark or Light. Dark = Confuse, Light = Sleep
The Kubara 8* is any element I believe, but inflicts the same status regardless (not sure which one http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif)
I think the S-Rank works similar but I have no experience with it.

Offline is different, and it seems all the whips in offline inflict confusion, or something.

Just confirmed the Kubara and S-Rank information with another player. The Kubara is fixed Confusion, any element. The S-Rank is fixed Stun, any element.

Needs more clarification:

The video of the ice whip inflicting infection is my video, and the whip was hacked to be that element so that the monsters didn't die too fast.

Online, when synthing whips, they can only be 2 elements, but you are effectively synthing TWO DIFFERENT whips that both happen to have the same name. It sort of like adding kubara wood instead of normal wood. Only instead of the "k" sound at the end, they both just have the same name.

For example, the 7* whip can be either earth or plasma. The earth version inflicts silence, the plasma inflicts paralysis.

This is where it gets fuzzy, because kubara versions can be any element, but they will always only inflict 1 status effect.

So it ends up like this:
7* Paralysis (Plasma)
7* Silence (Earth)
8* Sleep (Light)
8* Confusion (Dark) <-- (guess currently, I have one, but have been too lazy to try it out. I'll do that today)
8* Kubara/Confusion (Any element)

EDIT: Damn, trix beat me to it.

The slicer might be a fun weapon for GT, let's not be so greedy. ;]
AoI GT has 14 weapons, with 10 of them being ranged weapons. (fG has only 12, 9 are ranged.) I think a slicer is a bit redundant for GT in that aspect.

Yeah, Just Attack so didn't give Melees a boost at all.

Face it, pure melee will never get reliable, high-level, or mass-inflicted SEs, ever.

So WT is the best (most powerful) whip user?

WT is the most powerful with whips since they are able to lvl Skills to lvl 30 and they are for melee, too.
I say AT is however the best for Whips since they can S rank Whips. :3
Whips for fT is the coolest since they can replace them with Gi-techs if they want to and they kinda can support the team by AOE damage. n_n

In this chart, PT can no longer use shotguns, and GT have S grade shadoogs, are those mistakes?

;_; - for my GT i'd trade the Shadoog for a whip anyday ;_;

Just cause whips are cool. I can't think of giving up a crossbow for an auto-turret but meh we'll see.
