i got a deck for my birthday from a friend that has played it most of his life.

that said, I can barely play. I've had to learn it twice already, and would probably have to learn it again to play.

I tried to play that when it first came out. It confused me.

With saying that I have about 5 decks worth of cards, I have no fucking idea how I got that many.

I play both Magic AND Yugioh, though I like Yugioh more. I never can keep up with all the new stuff Magic comes out with, and the fact that they rotate older sets out of certain formats...

Btw, I play Yugioh World Championship 2007 on the DS every once in a while. My Friend Code's in the stickied thread here.

I had a black/swamp deck.

When my friend had tons of decks. I used a green/black deck. It was a WallDeck. Cuz i liked to just piss people off and do no damage.

That person didn't make the game, only plays it. Chill your beans.

Well, being as how I played the game for just about 8 years, I'd say I know a thing or two.

Only thing is, I stopped playing, as all the new abilities started to get rediculous. The last set I was a part of was Fifth Dawn, and very little of Kamigawa. However, I have a very good feel for the game, I played online and real cards. Online, I was one of the top emperor players around, almost evryone emperor game style players knew my name.

I mean... MTG WTF IS THT?!

I used to be one of the best players in the world on -

Tony hawks American Wasteland
Socom
Burnout
Call of duty

and many more.

Right now on Socom I have 38 ranked match game wins to 0 loses.

after looking at the deck i was given, it's a swamp/mountain hybrid. glance through effects and attack and defense stuff seems to revolve around using orcs and Oni guy on swamp portion, while mountain seems to be mostly the spells and what not, with main creature being one that casts haste and other mountain creatures being ones that have effects to give you mountain land to keep the haste monster out on the field (sacrifice 2 mountain each upkeep or something)

I use to play with two decks back in the day.
One was a Fire/Dark Instant Deck and the other was a Holy Deck.

This was my favorite card that I had:
http://www.mtgomintcard.com/images/card/MirageRare/PhyrexianDreadnought.jpg

I usually stored up on mana pool cards and then summoned an X/X creature to 12. Then I would bring this guy in just for the trample. It's a great way to finish someone off. *evil grin*

I used to play blue, back when the most complicated cards were straight counters and deck discards and the like. Though I did end up with that one Leviathan card.

I had stopped card games for the long while after Pokemon and DBZ and such, but as of a few months ago had picked up on Yugioh. Now I'm sporting a fantastic Crystal Beast deck with a first edition ghost holo Rainbow Dragon.

I have alot of yugioh cards. I used to be a crazy fanboy for it. Now I hate it. My rarest cards are my Chaos Emperor Dragon and Black Luster Soldier- Envoy thing.

Not counting my God cards.

I have a shit load of older rare cards.

I lasted up until the god card thing, then I stopped.

If you like Yugioh go to this site http://www.setokaiba.com/KCVDS/

and download that thing. I just heard about that site. Never have used it/tried it.

I found some of my Magic cards. The shiny ones I have are Dragon Blood and Hoden of Cleansing Fire. No idea what they do or if they are rare. But they are shiny.

I play it time to time. I've got a nice old-school / new-school Dominion (That's all color to ya) deck, with Urza's Saga stuff tossed together with nice hybrids from the Ravnica block. It takes a little while to get started due to the unwieldy mana curve, but it's equipped for every situation when it gets rolling.

I've also got a very irritating Sliver / Spirit deck. Slivers just get together and Hivemind their way to victory, while my big spirits simply refuse to die through constant use of Soulshift. Not to mention, throwing down uber instants through splicing Arcanes and only wasting a single card on it.

Oh, and while I'm sitting under your post, Dragon Blood and Honden of Cleansing Fire aren't particularly rare, but they are fairly useful cards for a variety of decks.

is there any way to tell a card's actual rarity besides looking it up? like some marker on the card?

Ashkahn
Oct 9, 2007, 08:02 PM
There's the card's Expansion Symbol located underneath the bottom-right corner of the artwork. If it's filled in Black, it's Common. Silver is Uncommon, and Gold is Rare.

In addition, the cards have other classes of Rarities. Some cards are labeled Legend, and are Gold. However, they are far rarer than regular Rare cards.

The card's layout also dictates rarity. Cards with the Old layout (That is, before Ninth Edition.) are generally rarer than cards with the Post Ninth-Edition layout, due to the fact that certain sets are no longer in sale - Urza's Legacy, for instance.

Finally, a card printed in Foil is generally considered Rare, with the exception of Land. Foil Land is commonly included with Tournament Packs, with one Foil Land for every Tournament Pack box.

and my foil is:

not a damn clue how to use these effectively of course (and I'm not asking how, I don't really play. As I said, they were just a gift from a friend who does play)

and for me, it's probably one of the simplest to undersand. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

though in all honesty, I generally have a good idea what effects are saying. What always gets me in card games are the phases. Knowing when to activate things, when do I play what and in what order. Generally once I get the phases of a card game down, I'm a decent enough novice. However, I've only played Magic a handful of times and scattered throughout, so I always have to relearn them. Also, I've never played with a deck long enough to master it. I used to be able to build one, but that was years ago, at least 4.
