As well as being illegal, it's also against the forum rules. Forgive me for saying so, but you should search elsewhere.

Why is it illegal to listen to a game's theme song? Sorry if I sound ignorant, but I've never heard of this being a problem before. I guess I'll try on IGN. The staff/mods don't see it a problem at all and I've been posting there for a long time. Is there any way to lock this thread?

It's called Piracy. You're illegally downloading something you don't own, or at least that's assumed. It may be possible to get the music directly from your game disk, though.
