View Full Version : Fashion Show...pt4 (Event has begun)

DurakkenX
Oct 10, 2007, 09:49 AM
Host: Crono (aka Durakken)
When: Thurdays the 18th, 6pm EST.
Where: Universe 15, Neudaiz, Kugo Hot Springs after Demons Above
Judges: Ryuki, Ami, Deedlet, Reese, Sasami
Taxi: Icespike (aka Einhart aka Victor aka something else)

Categories:
Witch/Warlock
ghoul/ghost
princess/prince
catgirl/boy (no halloween is complete without the sluts ^.^)
And a best overall

The winner of each category will receive at least 500,000 meseta and a deljaban blade at the very least as of this time. There may be more prizes or more money given out, but that relies on donations or me finding equal-ish prizes for all. (Also if this kitten doesn't stop biting my hand and getting in the way of my typing it may be a prize)

Rules:
#1. Respect the Host, Judges, and contestants.
#2. Speech/actions do count towards the overall Costume
#3. If you are a contestant the Host reserves the right to skip you when you do not pay attention.
#4. Judgments are all finals once the host announces them, but until that point they can still be altered. (This in a round-about way means that I have final say so if I feel a judge is being unfair their vote may be cast out as well as them...)
#5. Any bribes, coercion, or unfairness are grounds for removal from either being a judge or a participant.
#6. You will respect my banana >.>

Those of you that may wish to run side events such as gambling or picture taking or generally just partying. I ask that while the fashion show part is going on that you speak in party chat and not in public so everything stays organized, but when the fashion part ends or during intermission feel free.

This can also be looked at as a pre-1up cup or Halloween party/get together and as such will prolly last for about 4hours for the fashion part... after that it would be great to discuss and form parties for 1up cup ^.^

AND REMEMBER there is almost always a surprise or change of some sort so be prepared...

Is there a "looks like a refrigerator" category? That's the only one I've got a shot at.

DurakkenX
Oct 10, 2007, 12:08 PM
Ok...for the first 4 it's pretty obvious how they will work...but the last one is a sort of non-category where you must state what you are dressed up like... for example you can come dressed as a character and we will judge who is the "best" in our opinion... you could also come as a refrigerator... and if your the best then your the best ^.^

Or you could do an award for each gender / race combination.

Female cast : best loli
Female Newman : cutest midget
Female Beast : least coordonated
Female Human : I've never encountered a female human in PSU <i hope you get the duality of this)

Male human : looks like dressed by mom
Male Newman : most fruity
Male Beast : got dressed in the dark
Male Cast : most attracive power ranger

A Halloween party and I'm not sure Castr will make it. I would either have to close down the shop for a while or delete my brother's character. If I can make it, sign me up for ghoul and catgirl.

Yeah, because every short female character is automatically a loli.

*sigh* this has become as bad as that "anyone who wears black is EMOGOTHSLASHWRIST" thing. There's a pretty huge difference between people that like cute things and fucked-up pedophile sickos.

Sorry if you meant it as a joke, it's just becoming another one of those blown-out-of-proportion things and I get falsely labelled just because I'm a sucker for cuteness too often. Few things piss me off more than child molesters and pornographers, so, I can get a little touchy when put in the same category.

It's when they label themselves as loli, which does NOT mean small and female.

with the parts available to them; female casts have not option but to be loli's. the only real option to choose is whether to be a maid or wear a short skirt.

and newman females are not neccesarily loli's but they definately are midget's. with the clothes available to them, there is the possibility of looking mature and appealing. there's just no newman female over three feet tall...

I'll join the fashion competition.

I was hoping to do a co-organized Masquarade- Event w/a contest with you, or RyukiZero etc; for after AoI is out in the US. (far better clothing selection)

A "Legends of Phantasy Star Masquarade" in which there would be a classic Phantasy Star character (Ps 1 - 4) look-a-like contest. Example: Best "Alis Landale" Best "Rolf (Yusis) ", best Wren, etc..

I have no idea how to organize or set-up such an event so I'll need some help with that soon. But it's at least 1 week after AoI is released in the US is when I'd like to hold the event.

Many classic Ps characters will be able to be emulated with a bit less difficulty with AoI's selection of clothes and Parts.

Durraken, btw.. can you include male Witches in the "Witch" catagory?,
becuase a "warlock" is actually an oathbreaker as in they broke the oaths of the witches coven and is viewed as a detestable person with no honor. Witches/Shamans/Curandera can be male as well as female... fyi.

DurakkenX
Oct 12, 2007, 12:03 PM
warlock to most people means male witch and is prolly the more proper name now a days.

ShadowDragon28
Oct 12, 2007, 01:10 PM
Durraken. No it doesn't. It means oathbreaker, and is considered a very not-good thing to be labeled to modern day Practioners of real life esoteric practices, Neo Pagans and Wiccans.
A male witch is just a witch nothing more nothing less.

I'm not going to argue with you because I nor most other people care with what term actually means and to MOST PEOPLE it means a male witch. This I already stated and I don't see why I need to repeat it....

"modern practitioners" for the most part have no idea what their talking about either so going off what they say is pretty laughable. Further more to criticize the usage of the word warlock and say to just call them witches is ridiculous as the term witch in itself is an insult so you would trade one misused word for another when in modern language it would have someone calling a male a witch and having been called a witch in general be wrong... Trading up understanding for being twice over wrong is just stupid v.v

if you have a beef with people calling male witches warlocks go complain to the TV companies that produced Bewitched and Sabrina, not to me who has to communicate the idea to people the easiest way possible v.v

Oh brother... *rolls eyes* PSU was a fantasy game last time I checked and I have no idea why you would want to bring RL religious terms into a GAME. In Warhammer would you tell the devs to ban the use of the templars referred to as "Witch Hunters" because in that setting they hunt everything from vampires to necromancers? No... because it's not REAL LIFE, period.

Religious Tolerance covers all religions. Clarfiying the actual meaning of a term is important. Why? Because it helps spread understanding and tolerance for religions that are very misunderstood.
Just because "most people" think a term means one thing doesn't mean it's the *correct* meaning.

I and many other knowledgable and experieced Modern Practioners of their particular Neo-Pagan relgions (of which there are serveral) *DO* know what they are talking about,

It is a bit presumptious and rude to say "it's laughable. " It's not an "insult" for one that practices real life witchcraft to call themselves a Witch. It's the same as Shaman, Medicine Man, Curandera, or Priest. It's the fundimentalist christians and bullshit media stereotypes that use the term very improperly.

Once, on a role playing server on another fantasy MMO I wrote a storyline about a bunch of crazed paladins hunting down in-game witches and had someone threaten to report me because it "insulted" their religion. Yes, I'm a bit touchy about bringing ANY religion into a fantasy game because of the previously mentioned type of situation. That's why these are fantasy games, right?

I don't see how a costume event or role playing event that has nothing to do with reality can offend someone's religion... Now, if I were to bring a real-life religious figure's name into a fantasy game, that's an entirely different situation. But if I'm using general terms used in fantasy lore, well, I just don't see how that relates to real world religions.

Again.
I know PSU is not RL, but real people are interacting with the game. I wasn't asking the developers or anyone to "ban the use of" any term.

I was clarifying the actual meaning of a particular term and that it is thought to be a *not-so-nice* term to some people of certain often misunderstood religions.
Excuse me for even attempting to broaden anybodies perspective or understanding

Stop... I'm not changing the term and stop going off topic v.v i don't care what you think the term means or what you think it insinuates. i am using current american english which is based on popular understanding for the most and in that a warlock is a male witch.

Don't drag this topic off topic anymore. I don't care what you're religious beliefs are and I really think you need to learn the meaning of tolerance before you go throwing it around.

And once again STOP GOING OFF TOPIC This is not about lolis or pedos or religion...

Best overall sounds like fun. Does you need to have something pertaining to one of the catagories in order to get that?

I am most likely going to enter two or three catagories.

Will you give contestants time to switch to another character that they want to enter?

Reeses
Oct 14, 2007, 09:26 AM
I wouldn't see why not. I would assume right when your done 'showing yourself' that you would get the other character and come back to see the end of that particular segment.

#1... the only rigged event I know of is one that took place before i did this and any of my events are not rigged... It's pretty hard to rig my events as anyone that has attended should know this. Also, as far as I know Ryuki hasn't bribed anyone to win anything and if he had that is one of the previous judges fault and if I remember right the only 2 returning ones are Ami and Deedlet thus meaning if anyone did and it had something to do with this particular event it'd be your friends. Please refrain from speculating on things that you don't know about and have no proof of.

P.S. No offense to Ami or Deedlet as that is pure logic. As far as I know neither of you did that and if you did better keep it a secret cuz I must stab you then...

2. The best overall category was explained a bitl ower in the post... It is not best looking, it is the best costume and when you come up you must say what you are dressed like... and you will be graded on the basis of how close you get to thing you are going for in comparison to everyone else.

and on a final note Banana...

Pikachu won for being awesome. XP Coordinating the pants with the underwear instead of a top was a nice touch. It's not just about having a bunch of expensive clothing, y'know, it's about being able to creatively combine things and pull together a look that isn't the same thing I've seen seven billion times before. The beret was a case of good accessorizing as well.

Now, see, I actually usually hate those pants, they're too frilly for my tastes, but with something understated like the female underwear shirt, it's balanced out and doesn't end up overdone. XP

And for the record, I had no idea who the hell Pikachu even was at the time and volunteered to judge at the last minute because there weren't enough of them, so I sure as hell wasn't bribed. XP I just, gasp, really liked the outfit. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

I'd come, but most of my ideas in the categories involve the new colours for the old clothing in AoI or AoI outfits. That and I'd have to actually get on the US version and go out to the hot springs. DX

I can understand the whole "matching a bold piece with something subtle". After all, its better to dress down and outfit then to dress it up, it usually comes out a lot better (especially with accesories, in this case headwear).

But I guess what I personally will be looking for isn't so much the outfit, but the entire style of the character. More than likely, between Deedlet, Ami, and myself, we have pretty much put togather all known outfits on this game so creativity will be hard for me to judge. So what I know i'm going to see in a lack of creativity, im going to look for in overall presence of the character.

Lip color, eye color, hair color, skin tone all have a part in the overall "construction" of someone character, so I think thats what I'm going to think about when it comes to judging people (as well as their actual outfit).

updated all this info on first page v

Host: Crono (aka Durakken)
Taxi: Icespike (aka Einhart aka Victor aka something else)

Hi DurakkenX,
I have a HUGE favor to ask... Since Reese is not going to be off work till 7 EST and the show starts at 6 EST... I was wondering if you could possibly start the show at 7:30 EST? So she can get there in time? That would be the most wonderful thing ever, and the three of us (Ami, Reese and I) would SO appreciate it if you could do that.
Waiting on your response
Thanks

That's a no for 2 reasons

#1 I wont get much sleep tonight and I don't know how tired I'll be so pushing back further won't help me >.>
#2 Everyone already has seen that it will start at 6pm est so unless a large majority of people don't show up and I end up having to start later due to people not being there i really don't think it would be right to push back on account of 1 person. Last time I pushed it back several times to let people get there and people were getting upset so I'm gonna say no can do. However, depending on how things go she should only miss like the first one... and maybe the 2nd so no biggy

I really can't think of any good costumes for the given categories using the clothes currently available, which is a shame because I look at AoI clothes and I see TONS of potential. So I think I'll just show up as a spectator.

Hope to see another event like this in AoI when we have a few clothing sets released to us, I think the potential for costumes will be near-endless. Can't wait to see what people come up with for this round.

I just hope that big potentially-tornadic storm holds off until AFTER the event tonight o_O Freaking midwest.
