How long do you think PSU will last?

The Japanese version: 4-5 years
The US version: 2 years (one for each year of new content)

Assuming they don't do any more expansions.

I'll give it two more years before it gets deserted.

I think, with the expansion and the 1UP Cup, the player base will be boosted for at least a year or so. Then the population will thin out, and stay about the same for 4-5 more years. After that, I think many people who are either hard-core fans or just nestalga seeking indivituals will play.

Sega has a five year plan for it. So, call me crazy, but I think it's going to last five years.

It wont truly be dead until the servers are shut down, and even then... People like their Phantasy Star.

If ST wants to drag it out 5 years, they probably will, even if the community does not.

It's like PSOBB - the 4th/5th year stuff will likely prove the game more resilient than some might expect.

It'll last as long as Sonic Team is interested in keeping the game running. Until another game like PSU comes around, I'll be playing PSU. Futuristic anime-ish online multiplayer/mmos (whatever the hell you want to classify PSU as) are hard to come by. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Phantasy Star Galaxy (PSG). It's one up from a solar system, but the name is one down. Still, galaxy sounds cooler than universe slightly.

The PSOBB US community lasted about 1 year before they mostly abandoned the game. Private servers don't count.

My theories on it's abandonment was the whining playerbase. I hope I'm right http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Only the hard core fans are still playing now, and they'll be playing until the servers are shut down. Whenever that is.

If PSU brings back more things from PSO and PS, it will definitely live longer. I think it would be AMAZING to like, visit old Phantasy Star maps. Not go back in the past or anything, but visit all the places in the CURRENT time, finding old artifacts from back when, stuff like that. That would be amazing :>

If they keep adding things, I think it can last atleast 5 years. Besides, I don't think they would release a new game if their current is still doing decent.

I do remember it being mentioned somewhere that SEGA called PSU a project that will span "several years". I think the longevity of the game here in the US will hinge on the success of the game in Japan. Where J-PSU goes, US-PSU follows.

I hope a long time. I restarted back up a month ago. I had it when it was released and got bored very quickly. Not having that problem now:)

Personally, I'm guessing 4-5, but I voted 3-4 for convenience.

I'm not voting; simply because I don't care. If I get bored of PSU one day, then I'll find something else to play or do, so it doesn't really matter to me when it's going to die.
