I'm sad, I fought this thing last night and lasted for about 10 minutes, then he split... WHY!? Anywho, I'm a level 24 FOmar with only about 140 HP... This thing weak against anything? And what level should I be at before attempting this again?
I hate that thing... >.o

When it has low HP it splits into two... In ultimate mode it splits into 3... It doesn't seem to have any realy weakness to techs - I just use whatever keeps me at the most safe distance (usually zonde & barta).

Personally, I think you should be at level 30 or so; however, it is beatable at your current level.

It's weak against Foie on ultimate mode, IIRC.

I'd wait 'til about level 30, and if you have any items that can help protect you from shock or elemental attacks, make sure you have them equipped.

Heh, the first time he split when I was fighting him the fake one just stood against the wall. Made my fight a little bit easier. ^^;

One's fake?! :: dies ::
Arg... how can I tell which one's real? ;_;

LamerPanda

One of them has much less HP than the other, and will die if you attack it enough. You can't really tell which one's fake, though, unless it dies... o.o;

Great... I've changed my goal level to 40 now. =/
Well that's what hard mode is for. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

40? 30-35 should work...

Then again, I wasn't playing as a FOmar, so I guess it could be a bit harder. x.o

On Vhard and above, there are 2 clones.

I've heard... and I'm terrified. If I could transfer my DC character over I'd be fine, but nooo, Nintendo couldn't be sympathetic.

Don't worry, they're not that hard. I beat it at level 80, and it was kinda easy.

I just got massacred on V-hard Gol dragon at lvl 60 with my HUmar in offline. Split into three. Beat the crap out of me because the Ice breathing one kept freezing me

It doesn't matter which one you hit. They all do damage to the Gol Dragon. He's cake. Just keep hitting him until he dies.

My first time... I couldn't tell what happened and just kept attacking. I was on the real one and it died, but right before I did I noticed the double.
But then it was over, so I just assumed...

The worst part is when they both do the same attacks at the same time, like crashing down on the ground together or shooting ice and lightning out their mouths. That usually spells death for me.

HA! I remember when I fought it for the first time. I got owned beyond compehension. He started off by stomping me to 1 hp, then I healed, then he went up in the air, shocked me, froze me, then blew me UP!

Then I fight it wth my friend. He got the same treatment I did before, then I lasted a few SECONDS longer, and he just landed on me. While it was really pretty damned funny to see my guy do a backflip and not get back up, it hurt me, because I now had a mission to take the Gol Dragon's head. {It ought to be an enemy weapon, make Gol Slayer (Sword type weapon)}

Later, I went back and fought it solo at around lvl. 25 or so. When it split I nearly pissed myself. I said "uhh..duhh...durr..."I beat it, turned off the gamecube, then I watched the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

LOL I remember fighting Gol Dragon for the first time when I started a Skyly HUmar (this was the very first character I made when I got it. I never knew about this site and first impressions: I hate that extra step in his sword animation and no s/d LOL I cried when I started playing). I went thru Ep.2 first cuz I might as well get used to their attack patterns like how I am for ep.1 but dammit took me almost a damn whole hour to beat Gol Dragon at lvl 19 with my puny sword and brand and no s/d doing very little damage chippin' him away inch by inch. I felt happy that I beat him after a frustrating battle (then I had to go to work which made me more frustrated LOL). It was the worst experience in my life.

You see, I WOULD, but there's a problem with that. I need Grants. =/ Since I have very bad luck (In game, and out) I won't find a disk any time soon.

It's not that I need to learn exactly... I just have to get used to FOmars... Back on Dreamcast, I never would've touched forces... No real advantages... I'll try it again at 30... or whenever I have 200 HP.

Heh,
Speaking of Gol Dragon I don't even try to avoid him anymore. Everytime he dives on me in Ult now i just rush in and take the hit.

I do it more for a laugh but it's now finally to the point that I don't even get knocked down anymore and just a knockback hit if anything.

Gol Dragon was one of those bosses I liked a lot.

The Temple boss was boring. Beautiful background but a seriously boring boss. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

My advice for Gol Dragon:

If you're a force, Grants is your best friend.

If you have a nice rifle, smacking it at a distance is also nice. I prefer that my ranger uses Shot types but that's just me.

Whenever it splits, the best thing to do is stay right inbetween all of them. If you can survive the shockwave damage then you're fine. When you're right in the middle of all of them, their breath attacks don't hit you. I've gone whole matches like this and never gotten hit with its elemental attacks.
