im wondering why the npc is 5 levels lower than the party leader. aren't they always 3 levels higher?

Not really. Lou and Maya are always 2 levels lower than your avatar character or Ethan Waber. And they are also the only characters aside from Lumia to ever reach the max. level cap.

Maybe SEGA is trying to emphasize the point that Lumia is a n00b. Wot kind of guntecher uses rods? And dont give me that shit about the elite kind of guntecher.
