View Full Version : Adventures deep in the moon.

So I found some moonrunes and decided to translate them. I got some other moon explorers to join in Sord and Shligger.

Anyway Sord was back at the moonbase sleeping. While Shligger and I decided to find more things at this place.

We needed to take a space shuttle to a new world.

Thought this star pic was cool
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i54/Envy_06/C21/Takeoff2.png

Upon arrival we landed far away from our original starting planet Poyeen
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i54/Envy_06/C21/Gernia.png

The native life was too hostile to take on by ourselves but two or more people can take them.

(Thats Shligg in the back beating it with a mace)

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i54/Envy_06/C21/Stab.png
Stab!

What awaits us next on this mysterious planet Gernia? And will we be able to translate the moonspeak into moonspeak instead of question marks?

I started using my bee mecha again, I gave it a mechgun and a sword. uses more energy, but I can deal, more useful than the knife, since it moves too fast to melee in the air that well. Got jumped by some boss, so me and some random dood killed it, I kept flying past and firing potshots so I wouldn't die, since every time it hit me, it'd take off a large chunk of my health.

Figured out the f1-4 keys use the items on the top left, useful for healing.

Sgt_Shligger
Oct 21, 2007, 05:20 PM
I'll give a rundown of all the weapons I have personally used so far.

=Melee=

A nifty thing about melee weapons is that you can dual wield. Say you equip two knives. You right click three times. The first two swings are from your current blade, the third swing is from the second. You can mix and match melee weapons to do this, it's good to have a fast one and then a strong one (possibly sword + mace.)

-Knife-
Ground: Two fast swings, occasional knock back.
Dash: Two fast strikes, occasional knock back.
Air: Two quick slashes, low knockdown rate. First strike let's your cruise down, second does not.
Speed: Fast

-Sword-
Ground: One strike, you cock the sword back and lunge forward. 50/50 chance for knockback.
Dash: Fast strike, no lunge. Slightly lowered chance of knockback versus lunge.
Air: You cruise downward and swing. 50/50 chance on knock back/down.
Speed: Average

-Mace-
Ground: One strike, you cock the mace back and lunge forward. Very high knock back rate, can hit multiple targets.
Dash: Ones strike, you cock the mace back and lunge forward. No matter what direction you dash, it will always propel you forward. Very high knock back rate and hits multiple targets.
Air: You cock the mace back and hammer down on the foe. If the target is hit, there is a good chance they will fall out of the sky. You drop down farther then most other melees do.
Speed: Slow

=Ranged=

Oddly enough, there are few ranged weapons that are GOOD at hitting flying targets. Don't get mad at the weaponry if you have trouble with them. Also, damage is chosen on a per-shot basis.

-Machinegun-
Range: Short/Medium
Fire Rate: Fast
Damage: Low
Note: A nice, all around weapon. It can do fair damage even without lock-on if you're too close.

-Handgun-
Range: Medium
Fire Rate: Average
Damage: Low/Medium
Note: Higher damage per shot then machinegun but still fairly weak. Replace ASAP.

-Bazooka-
Range: Medium/Long
Fire Rate: Slow
Damage: High
Note: High damage per shot and pushes lighter foes back. The force of the shot has kick, knocking you back (if only slightly) and it can also do some splash damage.

-Beamgun-
Range: Medium/Long
Fire Rate: Average
Damage: Medium/High
Notes: A longer rage, more powerful handgun. It's better if you keep your distance from foes, otherwise the machinegun's a better choice.

-Rifle-
Range: Long
Fire Rate: Slow/Average
Damage: Medium
Notes: Difficult to aim at close range. It locks on from a great distance and the shots arc upwards when fired (so you must aim down shots closer then medium range.)

________

I'll add a parts list later.

Got stuck in some Zelda like endless forest in the Southwest corner. Big mushroom guys were cluster bombing me when I got close, they gave 33 EXP when they died. Other guys there were giving 13 and 7 exp. Trees were the item boxes there and took a lot of hits to break, 3 exp too instead of 1 from boxes. Had to find the highest ledge to jetpack up to the next area gates.

And how do you get those green denomination money?! Everything in those forest towns charged those, or something like 38000 yellow coins for a laser. Large sized robots were on sale too. Figured out the see more text and scroll text buttons but it impedes the path of other menus.

How to get the green cash. You have two options.

1: Buy it with real green cash
2. Save up 10K and you get 1 green dollar >_>

I still believe 10K for 1 is an outrage but I recently found a mission in the starting planet that you can basically make 1.5K in one minute just do that 10 times I guess >_>.

So what happens if you die?

VanHalen
Oct 22, 2007, 08:15 PM
If you die normally you just pay to repair your mechs. Its an higher fee than if your were just to repair it while its still alive. You keep all the stuff you found and exp. Die in a cave style map the items you collected on the map and exp gets reset. All the items and stuff you had before that are still kept. So the death penalty is not too bad.

Anyway this is a little thing I did for the garage. The 3rd button I never clicked.

To use build you'll need a body or a head first. I'm not sure which part it is. After that it will show you what part to add next. Shliggles is better at that.

I haven't really felt a grind in exp mainly cause I'm just having fun killing the mechs. Though I do feel a grind for money and parts if you decide to hunt the same enemy over and over again.

Buy the blue cube thing with the star on it in the first city item shop that costs 5000.

I managed to figure out multiple guns, so now I have a ranged mecha, it's fairly fast and has a bazooka/rifle combo, it has pincher head for its melee.

Also, I figured out that your mecha's level is tied to its head, so if you change heads, you change your level.

Sgt_Shligger
Oct 23, 2007, 04:33 PM
The tank treads are small though. The nice part is they hold a lot of weight and move at a fair speed.

Also, whenever you chance the legs, head, and arms on your robot, it's going to lose levels. You occasionally lose them with boosters and torsos though.

Should I make a tutorial about how to make a mech from scratch?

Also, @Tact, my primary mecha is actually a fast flying one, but I need the treads so my launcher mecha can actually move without overheating.

Me and van went parts hunting, he was after tree parts and I was after scorpion legs, they dropped, but it gave them to van, we didn't find van's item.

On my way back to the main town, I fought a ton of scorps, some chopper dood came and bombed the hell out of them, three legs dropped, but it wouldn't let me pick them up. ;_;

From Ronin's googlemobile translaation of the status screen page:

EXP is basically the devil and Lobo MONSUTAROBO military overthrow that can be achieved.

Basically, the DEVIL!

Swear I was lv 9 and gained three levels last night but was lv 10 when I checked later. Saw the equip/change parts makes lvs change but not with any consistency. Removing a part made the exp to next lv go down sometimes while also removing total exp.

At least my fatbot torso has more HPs. Now I need to give Ronin the map and also have the game inform you where the other doods are, and not with info page that shows x,y,z coordinates and the location in ??????'s. Why not numbers or Directions like S7, NW 5?!

Made a sandwich, slow baked some fries, ate both, Ronin was still not finito! this ain't no waiting for party more than playing FFXI lame games!

Japanese must be deprived of table top awesomeness Battleship and thus grid based systems. So they made their confusing crap map system.

Ronin you oughta try to solo the cave if you want scorp parts. Its pretty easy if you stock up on healing items and just don't stay in one spot for long.

Hay guise!

You don't have to go to the PvP server to do PvP. In the starting city there is an area by a waterfall(I'll get the direction later). Go in there and right click a color portal and shoot anyone with an opposing color on. Items here are usuable. Also you can switch mechs during the battle if one gets damaged. When the damaged one comes back out it will have full HP again. Though if it dies it dies. When you leave the area all your mechs will be repaired so no worries on the paying at the garage.

The dreaded PvP arena! Luckily us moon explorers teamed up to take down big huge bot. Also you can see Linkin, we met him the 2nd day of playing C21. He speaks limited English but he's pretty cool.

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i54/Envy_06/C21/KFCbot.png
No description just laugh!

For this next group of pictures I have to say something. If anyone remembers me saying ingame that the JP players are attracted to English, well here's proof.

Diz and I say a couple of words out loud and then everyone surrounds us. We start typing in emotes like http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif, http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif, :3, ^_^, and http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif and they join in a copy us.

The yellow circles on the map are us. They really dropped the whole fight just to say hi and talk about videogames and food. It was awesome.

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i54/Envy_06/C21/Moonconvo3.png
Not in this picture though, but Dizzy was trying to help them better their English. Shligger also found away to speak in moonspeak in the 30mins we were with them. Ronin came in and started talking with them too. We got some C21 information out of them and alot of friend request.

Last we got a dungeon party with this guy!

Soloing the 1st planet cave twice with as much 250 heals as I could carry while leaving room for keys, got tons of parts by killing everything, died at the boss when running out of heals, lost all the items and parts when resurrected back at the garage.

Tried to exit out the cave by the way I came, no dice. ESC to exit out, you lose your exp, and also all your items and found parts. CTRL ALT DEL and reboot, they put you back in the cave and kill your robot. WTFUX

Poyeen caves are South of the main city there. Then just take a right and you'll find a hole in the wall. Right click the portal and there you are ;o. Remember all exp, money, parts you find there you can only keep unless you defeat the boss at the end. Or if you have a purple teleporter. If you die you go back to the way you were before you entered.

I think when everyone is ready we should have a PvP tournament against each other. Though somewhere where the XL mechs cant find us.

There was a update on yesterday. Had some goods and bads.

Goods:
1. New event mission at planet Poyeen Mission Center. They are on page 3 and give 2K C$ and a random part.
2. Garage mech storage went up from 3 pages to 5 pages.
3. A gift was given when you log on. Not sure what it is.

Bad:
C$ to Mt converter cost has increased from 10K to 100K http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
Garage slot increaser was removed. Then again, this isn't so bad since you can get the maximum garage storage now.

I better find some good parts and something that gives 200K per mission >:U
