You can't 'sniper' someone.
No, he did not just get snipered.
And you are NOT good at snipering.
The next person that I see or hear using sniper as a verb is getting grenaded in the face.

For that it's worth Dizzy, I submit that "sniper" is as much a verb as "FKL", yet, telling someone they've been "FKL'd" is accepted practice.

To be fair, if you've been FKL'd, it's usually stated like "You got FKL'd," where "got" would be the verb. Not sure what the "FKL'd" would be though.

Well, no, in the case of "You got FKL'd", FKL is the verb, and "got" is an auxiliary verb. The primary action of the statement is embodied in "FKL'd" and the word "got" transfers possession of the action from the subject ("You") to an assumed, and unspecified party.

Meh, I mostly hear the weapons name as a verb. I don't think I've ever heard sniper as a verb.

Honestly, who came up with the idea of "FKL'd"??

Snipe is the accepted verb form of Sniper.
I just sniped that sucker from halfway across the map.
Man someone has to stop that camper from sniping everyone one.
A sniper snipes, get it?
A sniper does not sniper.

On a slightly related note: You ever repeat a word so much that it suddenly loses meaning to you? Theres a scientific word for that but it just happened to me.

Also: Moo originally started the FKL'd macro thing.

You can't really take anything that goes down in FKL seriously.

I was going to post more words, but I will post this instead:
http://ldc.upenn.edu/myl/llog/CalvinVerbing.jpg

Also, plenty of good stuff on denominal verbs etc at Language Log (http://itre.cis.upenn.edu/~myl/languagelog/archives/003968.html).

Making verbs out of nouns is a normal process in English (and other languages), but it does seem odd to make a verb out of a noun which, I assume (but am too lazy to actually confirm) originates with a verb.

But while we are on the subject of pet peeves, I mourn the rampant replacement of the noble e with an apostrophe. Where have you gone, Ed?
