After about 7 years of referring to games with 3-letter acronyms, it's hard to accept a 4th letter http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I've always wondered why that is....

Actually, the "t" in "AotI" is inaccurate according to how people create acronyms for the most part and "AoI" was the term that was created first, as far as I know here due to this site talking about it long before any other site had. So since it's more common to leave out "the" and it was first stated "AoI" as the acronym it is more accurate to call it AoI than it is AotI in my opinion. "AotI" either came from the GMs or the someone over at the official forums and most likely if it came from some random person it is most likely a slight at everyone that had already been calling it AoI. Unless it was called either by developers neither are official so it really doesn't matter, except for what you prefer.

You want to omit lead letters from words like "of, the", and such where possible in an initialism so you do not confuse readers while providing a short label for a long subject. If a-o-i gets the point of an initialism across just fine then a-o-t-i is just an inefficient extra. Think of "The Parents and Freinds of Lesbians and Gays", literally speaking the lead letters would make it TPAFOLAG but the better acronym, "PFLAG", gets the message across easier and stronger.

We are not forgetting the "the" in "The Ambitions of the Illuminus" when we use "AoI", we are using a better initialism than "tAotI".

EDIT for Definition: An acronym is where you say the letters like a word, for example "nato, "pow-mia", and "scuba". An initialism is where you say the letters as is, for example "CIA", "FBI", and "AoI".

AoI does not mean IoA. Tough they may seem similar, they are not one in the same. Please, remember this. It will help you in the near future... I am almost certain of it.
