A friend of mine and me had a little clash when we met Mirei in the Ex-Mission. I said "Karen! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif"
but she negated it. She thinks it is Mirei.
Of course I said that that Mirei has blue eyes..
Which means it is Karen.
Soe does not believe it.

Didn't Karen simply take over the name "Mirei" in Offline Story Mode? It IS Karen (blue eyes and facial structure), no doubt about that, but when she's the Divine Maiden I do believe she adopts the name "Mirei."

Edit: Just remembered, Karen took over the role of the Divine Maiden with the intention that the people of Gurhal never knew that anything happened to Mirei, thus, she went by Mirei. That explains it.

It's incredibly easy to tell from her expressions which is which. I haven't seen Merei online yet, so I'll have to get back to you on which it is, but from screenshots it looks like Karen.

Good lord. If you really cared to not be spoiled, you'd play the offline story. Take max 20 hours out of your life.

I figured it was Mirei, since it's VR, but I had never looked at her face (As she has never joined my party). I could tell the difference if I saw.

Mirei or Karen? Well... Considering that Mirei died in Episode 1, why would she be revived in the 1up Cup? More over, Karen had replaced Mirei as the new Divine Maiden midway in Episode 1 and thus, whoever that joined you during the mission has to be Karen, no doubt about it. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Edited: Karen is a twin dagger user, while Mirei is a staff user in Episode 1. However, sometimes near the end of Episode 1, it is said that Karen learned to use technics since she became the substitute Divine Maiden and thus, it isn't surprising that Karen can also use staffs as well. I will put it like this: Its been a whole year since PSU has been out. Episode 2 is finished and I am willing to bet majority of the people online finished Episode 2 and those same people will never bother to play offline because "they see no point."

Why do I say this? Dozens upon dozens of polls in the past were made saying that "Will you play Offline Story?" and in this polls, an overwhelming amount said that they will never touch offline. Funny thing is, I believe alot of those people complaining about being spoiled are those same ones who voiced they would never play offline.

People have clocked well over 2000 hrs online. If they haven't played offline after this much time online, then they don't have plans on playing Episode 1 ever.

So to me, with all due respect, majority of the knowledge about Episode Story is fair game. You chose not to play offline, therefore you only allowed yourself to be spoiled. Its not fair to those who actually took the 12 hrs or so to complete EP1 to hold their tongue.

About the whole Karen/Mirei thing, you really should have figure out through Episode 2 that it was Karen. Dead give away is that fact that the NPC is using daggers. Mirei use Staves. So to answer your question, its Karen.

Edited: Considering that so many people had played 2000+ hours online, yet to skip Episode 1...the prequel indicates that most online PSU players don't gave a damn about Ethan's storyline or whatsoever.

2000 hours in an online game isn't surprising.. and considering the game has been out for a full year now, well.. 2000 hours is about 84 days, that's a lot but not exactly overwhelming. (For the math impaired, that's under 3 months of playtime stretched out over a year. Also for a lot of people, those times are grossly inaccurate anyway due to a lot of idle behavior ingame, so eh.)

In any case.. Regardless of online playtime, I agree with Rizen. After a year, there is really no excuse for not having played PSU offline.. Even if you're a relatively new player, there still isn't much of an excuse, the offline mode is a prequel to everything in online mode.. they're suppose to be played in a certain order to begin with. And don't anyone tell me you don't give a damn about the story or about offline, because if that's the case, you have no business complaining about spoilers at this point then.

I've had the game since day 1, played offline, don't remember it at all, 1400 hours online, never finished an online story mission and only attempted the first one. I honestly don't care about the story, at all.

The Mirei NPC uses GIZONDE. I never played story mode much but they say Karen can't use TECH. But this Mirei can.

Wait wait this is VIRTUAL REALITY People. I can program Laia to be a ForteTecher or Maya to be a ForteFighter npc or program Bruce to be killed in one shot by the Deragnus. Its VR. IF they wanted to do the actual Maiden and not Karen they could.

Offline story. Karen gained the use of TECHNICs after Mirei died.

Basically, Mirei was unknowingly siphoning off Karen's TECHNIC abilities in order to boost her own abilities and ensure her place as the Divine Maiden. This was done though a photon seal their father etched into their hands when they were young.

Once Mirei died, Karen regained the ability to use Techs.

Karen couldn't use technics because of the seal thing Dohgi put on her and Mirei that channeled most of Karen's psychic energy or whatever into Mirei so she could be stronger as the divine maiden. Mirei had no knowledge of this until Dohgi (their father) tried to sacrifice Karen to further enhance Mirei's powers. When Mirei tried to stop him, he accidently killed her.

At least that's how I understood it to be. I doubt they'd have the Divine Maiden helping out with some piddly VR play thing, so it's probably a representation of her put into the VR simulation by a programmer, same as the others. And since all he had to go on was the current "Mirei", she looks like Karen.

Do Story Mode, and you're understand why it's Karen. We all know Mirei died early in the story, and at this current point of time, the only Divine Maiden is Karen. The blue eyes also give it away.

And it's lolOBVIOUS that Ethan is only 'claiming' to be Hyuga because of being wanted in Gurhal. He even almost reveals his name with "I'm Eth.. errr.." And it says "ETHAN WABER" in the party. Come on now.
