Do you need PSU in order to play PSU:AOI?

Only if you're on the 360

PC/PS2 is standalone. Xbox360 requires the original PSU and 20$ to pay for AOI on Xbox Live.

Many MMOs would require you have the base copy to play, but luckily, PSU isnt one of them except 360. But PSU only cost 20$ now and days.

Wait, what? It's bullshit than an EXPANSION to a game requires you to have the original game in the first place? When did this turn about happen, or are you simply mis-informed on the purpose and very definition of what an EXPANSION is? Now, I could see someone crying foul if a newly released expansion required you to have all the previous expansions as well (most, if not all, don't), but to complain about an expansion needing the very game that it's expanding upon is just stupid.

Luckily for you, though, you do not need the original for the PS2/PC platform as others have already stated. This is actually a abberation from the norm.

The answer to the first question depends whether you care about Episode 1 or not. And as for the reference to "bullsh*t", I totally don't have a clue. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_confused.gif

To add to that you also need to have a hdd. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

Yeah, bad for those who bough Core systems and haven't upgraded them; everyone else has no worries in the HDD department unless they have it chock full of Robot Chicken episodes.

I think PSU/AOI use the same account, so you wouldn't need to create a new AOI account.

Once an account goes over to AoI, it can't go back. But its the same account (unless you make a new one).

So if you make a new account for AoI, then you may still be able to use your PSU account. But whats the point? AoI has everything PSU has with more.

Console gamers typically don't understand the concept of an expansion pack. On the 360, AoI is an expansion pack requiring the full version of PSU to play. On PS2/PC the game is a standalone purchase.

I didn't see this anywhere, but can AOI players play with PSU players on the old missions? I know the new items and looks might cause problems, but how would that work assuming it does (aside from the yellow names and such)?

I still wonder how it will work for xbox 360. I am a pc user, but what happens when you boot the expansion on the 360? Do you need to switch disks or something? Or like install it to the original psu? And would that require you to have the expansion disk in 24/7 or can you use the psu disk?

What expansion disc? The expansion is a download for the 360. Sounds like PC/PS2 players in their own little world....

It's been mentioned in the Sticky, lots of times. In missions from original PSU, AotI players can play with people who only have PSU. However, their expansion-only items will not show up.

Funny thing that the 360 is not considered a console, when it is one. Wait... If the 360 is not a game console, then what is it???

That's just bullshit, and i see. No disk for 360? That sucks in my opinion. But i guess that's normal for 360 then.

Heh! You want to start a poll asking how many PC players don't have/never purchased a PSU disc?

The thing is though, even though they dont get an expansion disk, 360 Aoi players will need the original copy of psu to install aoi.

You obviously misunderstood my comment. Console owners, be it 360 or otherwise, have a hard time understanding the concept of expansion packs. I didn't mean to put the 360 on a pedestal.

Not really, but I apologize. I do admit that there are numerous people who don't understand the concept of expansion packs. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
