View Full Version : What "type" do you consider the best boss-killer?

All else equal, and in a hypothetical solo environment where you didn't need to clear to said boss, which Type is the fastest/most efficient boss-killer?

Anything that has access to a spear, double-saber, or grenade launcher

Fortegunner for most bosses I guess.

PT or fG. fG's with their rifles and Glaunchers are deadly to any boss. A PT is almost the same, but with heavy melee added if needed.

It's way too dependable on the boss for there to be a clear cut winner.

Most of the time I'd go with Fortefighter just for the pure power it brings with all its weapons. Against Dimma, however, I'd go with Fortegunner. He spends almost all hit time in the air, and takes a bit longer to knock down than Onma. You almost need to keep constant fire on those wings, and a fG is the best at that.

LOLZ the new axe art beats the grenade launcher by far with a decenyt % axe and the skill at a high lvl..I have seen fighters do 2400+ x almost all the points x 2...that's insane o.o

Either way...you still need the good old rifle to shoot down onma/dimma for that to happen :]

If you HAD to pick one to fight all the bosses, go with PT or fG. They are the only classes with a decent range of heavy boss weapons, both ranged and melee. PT has fantastic weapon selection, but weak stats. fG has access to spears, which gives them a pretty strong melee option. I would stay away from everything else. Jabroga on a fighter is great, but unless you plan on throwing that Axe...not going to work out so well.

Depends on the HP level of the boss, as well as the number of contact points it has. If the boss has too much HP, then Fortefighter with Majarra. If it has a smaller level of HP and/or lots of contact points, Fortegunner with that berserker grenade.

i think that it really depends on the pa the "type" has. Jabroga, Majarra, And boma duranga = boss killers

with the boss at Neu this week, I rather enjoy my double saber, then switching to dualies while he flies. It make a figh useful in both situations, hitting him in multiple points on the ground for good damage, while still putting out some good damage while he flies. It really all depends on the boss, but I've always loved the versatility of the figh against bosses.

How many times can you shoot a grenade while waiting for Jabroga?

Rangers or Fortegunner do pretty well against most of the monsters in game.

Probably Fortegunners, rifles let them hit the boss continually, and Duranga does massive damage when the bosses are on the ground.

I'd say Fortefighters are #2 for boss DPS.

A forte fighter with jabroga. D:

I'm not sure but i think a high % ank pikor with jabroga will still beat the grenade pa, if not now then definately expansion.

So for the type that is the best boss killer 'overall' i would say protranser. - I understand that a FF and a FG will outdamage them in certain areas however they can use all of the techniques mentioned that are good for killing bosses - swapping rifles with bows makes them very effective against bosses.

On large bosses like De Ragon and De Ragnus no tech can hit multiple parts...

...which is strange. Techs can affect multiple parts of smaller bosses like Kagi...the Rainbow beast or large Pollovahras. Why can't RABarta or GiDiga hit multiple boss parts the same way a Grenade can?????

Depends on the type of the boss, really.

FG for dragon and robot types, and FF for the demons. Duranga isn't all that spectacular on Onma compared to Ragan.

At first I didn't quite understand FT's lack of a boss-breaking PA, but it really helps them focus on playing more of a supportive role, which is always needed a lot more desperately then as opposed to in mission.

Fortegunner
Boma Duranga

Probably a Fortegunner with Boma Duranga, as much as I hate to admit defeat to a Ranger http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Fortefighter with Jabroga/Majarra is probably close. Jabroga has the potential to be incredible, but especially on a Beast fF, you do see a lot of 0's popping up with it. Add to that the wind-up time, and Majarra probably ends up being a better PA against bosses.

Majarra is broken though, and needs nerfing to hell (and I play fF with Lv30 Majarra), it's far, far too good http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Protranser, especially in AOI, EX traps are crazy on bosses. Plus they can use bows and grenade launchers. They are built to be boss killers.

I think it depends on if you want pure damage, or overall effectiveness/soloability.

If you're not focusing on pure damage, and go for the effectiveness/solo part, I'd vote GT. Bows can hit any boss easily and deal pretty good damage thanks to its defense-ignoring properties, they can heal up and buff themselves. And this will be all the more effective in AoI.

It works on the Svaltus, but I guess that's not really a boss. Actually, I find that Gifoie and Gibarta doesn't do that much damage to the De Ragnus in a boss battle compared to Foie and Barta. Aside from that, it also saves the PP. I don't do free missions with 10 photon charges everytime. However, its good to have photon charges when doing difficult missions.

And about Damfoie, it doesn't even hurt the Dulk Falkis at all, as if the attack misses everytime when tried. I think the Dulk Falkis is weak against Foie and Barta, but then again.. I have never tried Diga, so I don't know.

Like some people have said, it depends on what the player likes to use. Personally, my fortegunner with a level 1 frozen shot can out damage most people(If you glitch shot it) and I can stay on par with damage even against higher leveled people.(doing 200-300 damage a shot faster than a mechgun can hit something I would say is alot of damage, for one target anyways. >_>)

Sure gets 5 shots off before FF uses Jabroga and Ragan runs across to the otherside of the room http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

For my character I need a trimate every 3 shots against monsters with 4 targets and no ranaged special dfp or I risk death. But it only takes a spilt second to use a trimate.
