I see a lot of ppl "disapprove" of certain NPCs while soloing. so I want to finally put this to rest. who's the best? (Ethan and any other NPC that cannot be normally played with does not count.)

All NPCs are way too passive IMO, the best NPC would be a Rogue (Jasse) and/or Spec Ops (Kanone). From the ones you can take along with you, I usually choose Leo or Maya. Maya does not do much but if she heals its about 1k HP and the Retier and is also useful in some missions. Leo can deal some nice melee damage if he notices mobs that is. Might even be lucky and he survives until nanoblast.

Oxymoron?

Tonnio seems reasonably aggressive. I'd suggest he's got a variant of the AI used in the 420 series which is certainly one of the more active PM types. Laia can be pretty good too. I'll be taking my PM out a lot more now that they put in the death patch on the 360 version (BOOO!!!!! SHOULD HAVE ONLY APPLIED TO NPCS)

I just hate how the early NPCs don't improve much in the way of stats or equipment, even at max level. Tonnio can dish out good damage, and is aggressive, but Leo and Laia both do rather pitiful damage with their weapons.

I like to take my PM (442) and Tonnio, Leo, or Laia.

And not only because they're beasts. >_>

Tonnio + w/e PM you have.

they are good distractions.

its better then having all enemies focusing all attacks on you.

Anytime I take a NPC with me besides my PM I take Lou. I know she isn't particularly useful, but I don't really care becuase I love seeing her little hat.
In my opinion the only NPC that is worth anything is Ethan, he actually does decent damage and is fairly aggressive, but since we can't regularly use him I am saddened by the waste.

I can't agree with you more NPC's are great distractions they get hit while you do the hitting.

PM, Tonnio, Laia, and Lou

Would love to have Karen as a normal NPC, but I dunno if that'll happen or not.

Tonnio/Laia, but whenever I use NPCs it's for a meat shield, nothing more.

The one who takes more hits before dying, and if he's a midget who doesn't block your sight the better!! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Leo's isn't great, but it's at least acceptable, and at least he makes up for it in his Nanoblast. I can outdamage Laia's Axe using Gravity Strike level 1 on an 8* Saber as a Fortetecher. Laia is just an extremely awful NPC.

If I could have any NPC's Partner Card, it'd be Bruce. He only has one attack weapon, so he's not going to be switching back and forth between a 1* weapon and a 7* one a la Leo. The only PA he uses is extremely strong (Spinning Strike 1-99, Gravity Break 100+), and he uses it fairly often. Also, he's just an awesome character. If not Bruce, then Ethan...his Spinning Strike does pretty decent damage, and he uses the whole combo.

Out of the NPCs we have, I loved my GH 410/412, but remade it to a 454 a while ago, so I can't say much about the 41X series' usefulness now. I just use Leo and Tonnio when I play...Tonnio is strong and attacks fairly often, and Leo does some decent damage with a nice area of effect. Plus, both of them have Adaka Val, which speeds things up a bit.

Lou and Nav are a good combination for mobs, I suppose. ><

I usually take Hyuga along with me, if for nothing more than to set him up in situations where he's caught on fire and then laugh as he screams "Oh, god no! My beautiful face!!"

Oh BTW I had SUV Lag when I was doing Ragan S2 (just had it full, I know SUV is pointless at most bosses), didn't deal any damage b4 that and Leo and PM only needed like 3 hours to kill him; that's not too bad , I think; dunno how often they died but hey they took away his idk 140k+ HP
