I've got a long repetetive task to do at work that involves a lot of downtime. What should I do to avoid suicidal thoughts?

carry out thoughts of suicide so you won't have anymore thoughts of suicide to think about!

You'll find lots of things have cheese in there. Don't be afraid. It ain't easy being cheezy, but you certainly see enough around here to get accustomed to it.

Either talk to a shrink or throw a medium size rock in the air and let it hit you in the head. Afterwards see if you feel better.
