(PSUJP) 20th anniversary of the Phantasy Star series event

The Japanese PC/PS2 servers have kicked off their 20th anniversary illustration contest. Just like with the Thanks Festa this summer, illustrations inspired by the entire Pahantasy Star series are being accepted, and winners will be chosen to receive special prizes (both in-game and real, tangible goods) as well as have their works of art shown in the game lobbies (in both PSU and PSOBB).

Artwork submissions are being accepted from now until December 06. Winners will be announced mid-December. Winning artwork will go on display after the announcement, but a specific date has not been set at this moment.

There will be one first prize winner, three second prize winners and three third prize winners. Winners who have a PSU account will receive a Gold Trophy (1st place), Silver Trophy (2nd place) or Kolbe Trophy (3rd place) depending on how they placed. PSOBB account holders will be awarded certain items from this list (http://psobb.jp/about/ep4_item1.html). First prize will get three items, second prize gets two items and third prize gets one item.

EDIT: also for the US they may jsut combine the Phantasy star anniversary with the PSU anniversary instead of thanks festa.

This isn't the first art contest that the Japanese have done for the Phantasy Star series, we didn't get those either, so I'm definitely not holding my breath for this.

It is a class of all the PS games where the evil planet from one of the original games (idk what it was but my dad would know ^.^) comes and on that planet is all the PSO levels. Along with this event comes the PSO clothes. The story line of this event leads into all thsi so we basically HAVE to get this or we'll be missing a major part of the game.

There is absolutely no confirmation that Rykros/Ryucross/however we're spelling it this week is where the PSO areas will be, nor does PS have any solid links to or presence in PSU. Also, the place in question was not 'evil'. There's no indication that this will have any sort of storyline to it, either, outside of 'lawl here's an event isn't this fun'? All that's known about it is that the PSO areas will be available during it, and that the PSO clothing will also be out around that time.

So can we please stop spreading baseless rumours? I'm getting really tired of it.

ok this is what i know. There is a big evil planet think named rycoss which was the same name as one of the PS game's palnets. the discription of it is "An evil planet with familiar surroundings" they also said that in this event they would be releasing th PSO stuff.

Familiar surroundings could mean it looks almost, but not quite, exactly like HIVE, rofl. It's possible that they're bringing Rykros out then, but I doubt it. It's not even confirmed that it is, in fact, where the PSO areas are.

And as for storyline, storyline for events tends to get to about Firebreak level "zomg seeeeed purify them gaiz kthx" and that's about it. XD It cannot, by its very nature, be very important at all, else people who missed the event would be missing important parts of the story.

Rykros/Ryucross was the fourth planet of the Algol Solar System you visited in PSIV. It was where the Great Light had left a few of its minions. You got the rings you used to protect yourself from the PD's power there from a couple of them, another one tells you about the PD and Chaz can learn Megid from the fourth. Very much so not a 'dark' planet.

And I know you didn't mean anything bad, but on these boards, it's best not to state anything there isn't 100% confirmation on, since 'this is probably going to be like this' tends to turn into 'this will be like this + a bunch of ludicrous crap' and spread like wildfire. XD

It's unfortunate SoA's crappy transliteration of PsIV has resulted in so much hate for Rudi Ashurey (Chaz) from US & UK Phans. He didn't come off an annoying or unlikable at all in the original Japanese version. Truely unfortunate.
