Im thinking about buying this Gateway 24" at Best Buy that supports a resolution of 1900x1200

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8550588&type=product&id=1188560797577

I currently have a Sony 19" LCD but this Gateway sports a HDMI connection so I can also finally use my PS3 in 1080p

Good question Indica. I just bought a 22" wide screen and was also wondering if wide screen will be Supported by AOI.

Yeah, it's supported. I've seen screenshots in the screens threads from AotI users using widescreen. And also... it's not wide already on PS2/PC...? Whoa.

PSU AoI only supports 1280x720 as the highest widescreen resolution, so same as 720p on Xbox360

For a 1680x1050 monitor, it'll be a very small window and even smaller on a 1920x1200.

Of course you can resize but I find that stretching the window makes it really blury :/

nope can not use wide screen on PC in this version. It is kinda a pain lol. Thats why I was hoping that it would be supported. Well thats good news. T-Minus 12 days and counting http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif not counting the 16th when we get some upgrades woot.

You can't go into the system registry and change some values for PSU to force widescreen?

Like Techershee Stated it gets blurry. I went into my video card settings and put up some black bars on the sides so my desktop is not visible. This helps but not the same when you have all this extra screen real estate going to waste. But its all ok couple more days then AOI lol

I dont see how your eyes can take those big ass screens. If I go any higher, I can't read jack :/.

It is not bad really. At first the shock of the size of it compared to my old 15" was yea pretty amazing. But now after 2 months it is no problem. But now I can never go back to a smaller screen lol

Yeah, I don't think I could play PSU without widscreen. The on-screen static images are just so crowded!

If its ps2, it will probably be the same as now in PSU.

Wait, wait...

I'm currently building a new PC (old one quit and couldn't handle PSU anyway), and I'm looking forward to going from PS2 version to PC version. But, as I have always had a really old, kinda crappy monitor, I know little in this area. So... if I were to buy, say, this (http://www.amazon.com/W2207-Widescreen-Flat-Panel-Monitor/dp/B000OK6T9W/ref=dp_return_1?ie=UTF8&n=172282&s=electronics) one (which is the one I've been looking strongly at; 1680x1050 resolution), what I want to know is: The problems that have been mentioned, of having either a really small window when playing PSU, or a really blurry image if you make it bigger, would I encounter that no matter what? Or would I encounter it ONLY if I tried to run the game in widescreen?
Just to clarify: I want this monitor for various reasons, and though it is a widescreen monitor, I don't care about running PSU itself in widescreen, I just care about it looking nice (and not having to be in a tiny window). Thanks for any info http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Hihi, first time poster but long time lurker, and I thought I'd chime in on this subject. While I'd love AoI to have a high resolution for a monitor like that (which, coincidentally, is the same resolution monitor I currently own), it doesn't look that bad, even stretched out in vsync mode. You character looks a bit fatter and that's about it really, at least to me.

Luckily for you, early today while deciding on whether or not to do a hairstyle change, I look a screenshot of my character. The resolution I run PSU on my monitor is 1280x1024 (but stretched to fit the screen). So when I paste the pic, it looks normal, like this: http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/227/normalws2.th.jpg (http://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=normalws2.jpg)
When stretched, it looks like this:http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/408/stretchedfh2.th.jpg (http://img250.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stretchedfh2.jpg)

From my perspective, besides being stretched a bit, the image looks fine. You really get used to it and don't even notice it after a few minutes of playtime.

Hope this helped!

1280x720 will be the only new resolution added. It is only being added to the PC version. The PS2 version will remain the same.

Basically it is going to be 1280x1024 with the top and bottom cropped and a further back camera.

imo, 1280x1024 is still going to be the more demanding and better looking resolution, but if you have to have widescreen on the PC version, that resolution will be available.

Also, to the posters looking at buying a newer higher resolution monitor, just keep in mind that if you plan on doing any other gaming at those resolutions, you'll need a fairly strong GPU to play with decent settings.

The resolution setting is stored in the PSU.ini file in the game's folder in Program Files, but the individual settings are hard-coded into the game. That is to say, there are a set number of options that are selectable from a drop-down menu, but instead of providing the actual resolution values in the INI file, the value is instead an integer representing the number of the option. 0 for 640x480, 1 for 800x600, 2 for 1024x768, 3 for 1280x960 and 4 for 1280x1024.
