Quick question, I used the search function and only turned up semi-related threads, but just out of curiosity, how many people play PSU? As in total player population.

on PC probably less than 1000

on 360 most likely close to 3500-4000

o-o;. I wonder if they actually make money from keeping the English servers up.

Yeah, I only have 110 hours logged and have been paying for PSU a little over a year <_<. Just started seriously playing this week.

I dunno. I've seen ID #s at around 80 thousand now, and also I find it hard to believe that only 5000 people have earned 3 million platinum points so far... unless were all raving meth addicts that is.

well its 8-10 points to 5000 people lets say every 25 min.

1 our thats almost 20,000 points... thats about right...

well maybe more for the busy hours of the day but for right now 20,000 points an hour seems about right.

Yeah, hard to tell due to people playing at different times and taking "breaks."

I imagine, we will see a surge in players, when AOI comes out, but after a few months, it will probably dwindle again.

I'm guessing the same.

Unless they advertise a bit more or something. I do think however we will have more players that will "stay" or be more "active" rather than not play/quit/whatever due to tons of changes.

It's really depressing how badly the game does in the US, especially thinking about the numbers I saw when I still played it vs the numbers on the JP server. At peak time on a weekend I've seen five full universes, and every other universe(JP has 40) with at least one full star, if not two. Non-weekend peak is down to three or so full + full stars on almost all to all of the rest. Hell, even DEAD middle-of-the-morning time there's more than the US version.

...And Japan has a small population than America.

Yeah, they need to advertise that fucking version or something. It's just *sad*.

Didn't/doesn't help that the PC version doesn't get a free trial like the 360 does. Most MMORPGs for the PC do, if not all of them. There was really no incentive to get new players if they hadn't already played PSO, and then I'm sure we lost a bunch of people to 360 for controller/microphone reasons. But yeah, terrible advertising all around, 1-Up was definitely not helpful as the ones who collaborated with us - how many people actually went there for patch notes and update info when the game first came out? I certainly didn't. And the reviews on the game were terrible because people kept comparing the game to Warcraft, even though the gameplay is nothing alike.
